i think the reason why the most new gods become obsolete is because they do it for shallow reasons only mortals would have. The old gods didn't choose to be gods or ascend through achievable means, they embody concepts present in the world. People prayed to them with the goals and desires. Without people calling upon the old gods or giving them worship, they become obsolete or leave only traces of themselves and the power they held. Clearly worship is integral to a god and nobody worships the swarms of new gods that have arisen because if anyone can sit upon a throne and ascend then who would bother worshipping another mortals ideals. The old gods and their traces are still worshipped because they didn't ascend for their own ideals, they are the physical embodiments of concepts in that world and the new gods can only bend the rules placed by old gods. It doesn't feel like coincidence that only 4, technically 5, soul types there are and there are only 4, technically 5, gods seen in fear and hunger.

Le'garde might be a paradox in that the new gods are giving him and his existence different meaning through a form a belief that he will bring change. The new gods already have the ability to individually bend reality to a point and if every new god that ascended as their soul type believes in a prophecy wouldn't that cause the prophecy to come true. The only thing that is different about Le'garde is that his soul displays traits of every soul type. We don't know when the prophecy began but regardless of soul type, every new god since then sits in the hall of the gods and waits for the prophecy. The prophecy and the new gods belief in it might've caused Le'garde's soul to be unique causing him to be the prophecy to begin with.

The one thing about New Gods always being destined to fail never set right with me after doing the D ending for my first playthrough. Depending on your choices after seeing your new God form you can end up becoming the only god in human culture, rivaling the old gods in influence ( though not in power ), and helping the general populus through your religion. It believe it is more a fault of the new gods themselves why they fail, chambara using his time to torture people instead of helping, valtiel keeping all godly knowledge in a library instead of sharing it with the world, the endless just keeping to her dreams etc. If they actually used their power for good like you can in the D ending, I feel like the New gods could have broken the cycle long ago.

I think this is also explained in the situations you see with Betel and Nas'hrah or Le'garde and the Girl. Basically, not only are the New Gods pawns in the Old Gods' schemes and often being burdened & consumed by their own powers, but they're often also _sabotaging_ each other (and their would-be successors). Le'garde's plan apparently failed partially because Nilvan used him to birth the God of Fear and Hunger, who became more powerful and popular than Le'garde himself.

Bear from Ragnvaldr new god form comes from word "Berserk" which can means "Bear Shirt".

Ragnvaldr's form is in reference to vikings who wore the skin if bears be ause they believed it granted them power and strength. The term "berserk" stems from "bearserk" the uncontrolled rage the vikings weaponized.

I think becoming a New God amplifies the WORST aspects of their souls and the concepts behind them, much like how becoming a Godhand in Berserk robs you of your humanity. -Both Chambara and Ragnvaldr become tormented, deformed sadomasochists obsessed with suffering and death. Every other aspect of Ragnvaldr's personality is forsaken for the sake of focusing on feeling and spreading pain. -Cahara and Nilvan are interesting, because I think that they embody the absolute "savage freedom" of their profession taken to their most extreme. Nilvan was probably some kind of courtesan or shamaness, and Cahara was a thief and mercenary, so she's basically an "ethereal nubile witch" whereas Cahara becomes a shirtless wandering cutthroat warrior that will go back to his wife and child, nor find any peace (much like Jecht himself, especially when you remember his Dissidia version is basically forced to serve alongside the Warriors of Chaos). He's completely free, but also completely detached from humanity. -D'arce and François are even more simple and straightforward than the last 4, because their whole shtick is the typical medieval European ideal of conquest, evangelization and domination over all others in the name of their personal politics or ideals. François is the embodiment of a Spanish Conquistador a la Hernan Cortes (down to his ultimate form being gold), while D'arce is a knight who you can easily see becoming a Knight Templar (in fact, the Cave Dwellers tried to kill her because she BRILLIANTLY decided to try "civilizing" them). Aside from the obvious Cenobite reference for D'arce, I would also compare them to Makima from Chainsaw Man, Marika/Radagon & Miquella from Elden Ring or Sauron from Lord of the Rings, specifically a line from Shelob in Shadow of War: she describes Sauron as having chosen to become "a shell of cold, dark steel. He became a machine. A hollow man". That perfectly describes both François and D'arce at her worst: all morality and complexity forsaken in the name of obsession with order through absolute domination, medieval imperialism/fascism personified. D'arce getting a "muscle armor" and codpiece in particular makes that metaphor clear: she's no longer a maiden knight, but an ironclad deity purged of anything that could make people consider her "feminine and fragile". D'arce's apparent submission, ironically, is also tied to the concept of Domination: she doesn't necessarily want to dominate people herself, but rather promote and enforce a ideal or virtue (i.e. chivalric honor, religious dogma, corruption-free & moral nobility) upon all people, including herself, which is still a form of domination. Think Lorgar Aurelian & the Word Bearers; much like them, D'arce doesn't just want to BELIEVE, but to make her beliefs and ideologies all-dominating. -Enki and Vatiel are both plays into the "Gone Mad From Revelation" trope typical in Cosmic Horror stories. Betel is a giant head with his brain exposed AKA a "stillborn brain", whose mind couldn't handle the knowledge he acquired. Enki shutting his head in some kind of helmet or box is akin to Micolash's head-cage, meaning he's "attuned" to the Eldritch Truth, but has also jailed his own mind to that obsession, unable to derive any sort of benefit, wisdom or useful ideas and truths from it, becoming yet another self-obsessed and deranged mad scientist/alchemist/sorcerer, hyper-focusing on nonsensical goals. Think of Father, Dante and Show Tucker from Fullmetal Alchemist, or that old wizard from Netflix's Castlevania that Isaac kills. Vatiel, in particular, became deranged in his obsession with creating life, creating those mannequins and impregnating them.

Can you make a video about how sulfur god ascended I didnt know he was an ascended god and thought henwas a forgotten old god
@floppr87152 ай бұрын
There are some very interesting and in depth videos although they are long… sulfur god is alll mer’s left behind parts after the god ascended. Some dialog with black kalev in game gives some suggestion that it’s possible the sulfur god is actually alll mer himself after losing to his evil half while ascending

I think the weakest part of this game was the design of the final bosses. Yellow King is underwhelming. He spends turn creating asterisks that do almost nothing. GoFaH's first 3 forms are weak and boring design-wise. Overall she is way too easy for a final boss. They should have implemented a real fight between the player and their New God form, instead of a glorified cutscene. Gro-Goroth, on the other hand, was fantastic. Cool, terrifying design, extremely difficult, he gets an A÷
@aokyoutsuki77442 ай бұрын
Fighting your new god form doesnt... Make sense tho, like why, its not like you are trying to dispose of your inner ego and whatnot, its literally you, and considering how S endings work, the reward is getting there while doing the gruesome tasks
