I’ve had a Mk7 Golf R for six years, it’s a great all-round car. Fast, grippy yet practical. But £38k for the new one? And that’s before adding the options. And no manual? And as for the touchscreen nonsense… I’ll stick with my Mk7 thanks (and my 2001 Elise - now that’s a drivers car). Loving the channel

My 2019 7.5 Golf R stick of course, is great, quick, stable, comfortable, reliable, 40,000 miles not a burp, and super quick, and is glued to the road, STICK here in U.S. is coming in Mk 8, gotta have stick

Good review, I ve had 10 vw's, not a fan of touch screens, really hard to use on our crumbling roads. You can't beat proper controls. The price of this R is bonkers, and that's before any options are ticked. Vics, I love yr presenting style, yr fun, enthusiastic and give good honest sensible reviews. And I ve still got a bit of a crush on you after all these years. 😃

I think the 7.5 was the sweet spot with the Golf GTI /R. Always hankered for a Mk2 Golf GTI 16valve in olive green with big bumper kit ❤️❤️ was the GTI that was about when I was old enough to drive

Great review! The 'will it jump?' question should be standard in any car review. :) I do hope they change those sliders in the interior to regular buttons on the facelift model because those are just a rubbish idea.
