Mt. Osceola and it's neighboring peak, East Osceola are two 4,000+ foot New Hampshire mountains that are named in honor of Chief Osceola (1804 - 1838). Osceola was a Native American Seminole Tribe leader of Florida during the early 1800s.
The route taken in this episode of Getts Wild begins at the Tripoli Road Trailhead, just off of Exit 31 along Interstate 93. This is the southern approach via the Mt. Osceola trail (only trail and it links both peaks). Dexter and I summit Osceola, traverse along the connecting ridge to East Osceola, then backtrack over the summit of Osceola on our way to the car. The northern approach begins at the Greeley Pond trailhead off of Route 112 (Kancamagus highway). This approach is much steeper, and hikers will summit East Osceola first.
