We are now at 400 Sargent Drive, where we see a number of New Haven Fire Department units as they arrive at and operate at Box 407 for a smoke condition at the La Quinta Hotel. Engine 4 and Truck 1 were 1st due and reported the alarm going off on the first floor fire panel and light smoke in the hallways. It turns out that a mop in a utility closet outside the restaurant on the first floor got ignited, most likely by a carelessly discarded lit cigarette, and it spread from the mop head into the HVAC system, so the smoke went into the hotel. A Signal 21 was called for All Hands, followed by a Signal 30 for fire investigation. In addition to Engine 4, and Truck 1, Car 33, Engine 11, Engine 5, Truck 2, Squad 1, Emergency 2, Car 32 (Deputy Chief), and Car 31 (Chief of Department) all responded, as did the police and the Fire Investigation Unit. Enjoy the view of the responding/arriving units as well as the operation itself. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome.
