Dear Bigtractorpower, lying in our couch in Berlin, Germany with my almost 2-year old son who is sick with high fever watching your videos one after the other. The little guy is a huge fan of yours and although he doesn’t yet says so many things that make sense he do say “tractor” all the time. Your videos is the only thing he is allowed to watch on tv/yt. I also think we have to plan a US-trip and visit a farm! Just wanted to give a huge thank you for your excellent work and making my sons sick-day a lot better. Best regards from Germany,

It's great to see a New Holland self-propelled forage harvester in action! This was the last series before the all-new FRs. The FX50 definitely came along later. Excellent footage once again, especially the beautiful panoramas from the drone and also the quick-hitch. Those would save an enormous amount of work and time, and I strongly suspect the operators can feel the difference at the end of the day from not manhandling those wagon tongues or climbing on and off the tractors so much. That pickup head is huge. You'd need pretty flat ground to use both it and that auto-hitch. Again, excellent video. You need to show some more New Hollands chopping!!

One issue with chopping alfalfa in a dry condition is the spontaneous combustion problem that can happen in silos if there is not enough moisture in the haylage. This happened to a neighbor years ago in a silo and it, as far as I can remember, ruined the silo. Not to mention the loss of the feed too. The NH FX40 is a great chopper!! Really like your videos BTP!! Thank you...

Bergmen Manufacturing. Agri-Speed Hitch. The company has a video on their webpage. The are a definite back saver over getting out and wrestling the tongue on a loaded wagon. There are quirks : Namely choosing flat ground when dropping the empty or you will get a roll away like what happened the first time they tried to hook up to the empty. And the tongue needs to be down on the ground for the hitch to work through its hitching action. The piece on the tractor needs to lift the tongue for it to work right. Usually not an issue unless you have a wagon tongue with heavier that usual springs or a tongue vertical pivot bushings that are worn or dry.

Beautiful area, one thing that blow my mind is how is it possible for the blower to blow that capacity of forage up the relative small pipe to the top without blocking, if it works like I think that blower must be extremely powerful and still blow my mind, great video BTP
@bigtractorpower5 жыл бұрын
It is a powerful blower. It can fill 90-120 ft tall silos.
@captaindee61304 жыл бұрын
It appears they're using the Case IH model 600 blower. It is powered by 540 rpm PTO and has a 60-inch fan with paddle tip speed of 8460 feet per minute for an ejection speed of about 96 mph.

Would I be right in guessing this was manufactured in the same factory as the older Ford-New Holland harvesters? I know this was introduced after the Ford partnership ended but I'm just curious. Nice machine in any case. 👍 EDIT: Sorry for my ignorance, I'm still learning about farming and all the machinery and everything. Might not be knowledgeable about it but I'm still intrigued by it. 😆

Considering a self-propelled chopper. What is better this type feature here or a John Deere 5830 self propelled chopper?
@jbmbanter5 жыл бұрын
Lot heavier amount of material than the one yesterday. This is also the first time I've seen the silage unloaded into the silo. Is there an auger all the way up the silo or some other means to propel it up?
@gregshearer4235 жыл бұрын
jbmbanter the thing the unload into blows it right up the pipe and into the silo
@bigtractorpower5 жыл бұрын
The silage goes into the blower and it has the force to send up the tube to the top of the silo. No augers.

SP models are the way to go. Big custom operators and farms buy them and often trade yearly as these machines take allot of abuse. Over time they trickle down from one farm to another until even a small farm can afford a hood used one.
@MrMarshallday5 жыл бұрын
Obviously a 2018 Wisconsin harvest. 2nd crop it looks like. Because it is being blown into a bottom unloading oxygen limited silo the hay is a bit drier than what you would put into a bunker, bag or even a standard top unloading cement silo. Probably around 45-50% moisture. Higher moisture than that and you begin to have unloader problems. That goes for Harvestors too.
