One year in, let's finally fix the mess I made with my new house network setup. We're going to be moving servers, network cables, IoT devices, switches and more!

I actually enjoy these types of videos and it gives me some useful insight on how networks can be set up. I wouldn't mind if you uploaded a longer form of these types of videos. Keep up the good work.

Sure. I cut out allot of stuff, could probably do longer cuts on a second channel to not mess up the algorithm

In my case I have a two-post rack for all the cables to arrive at.I put my IOT units on a shelf there on the front side. I then connect from the rack cabinet to the two post at the patch panel. So much easier for adds, moves, and changes. I am planning to install a 20A plug for a fridge sized battery backup unit and I am also putting the Generator controls and transfer switch in this area as well. The whole assembly will get its own locked room, that's 6 by 6 with HVAC in it as well as a water sensor for potential flooding. (Been there done that at work. Six feet of water inundated a basement server room when the HVAC line broke showering water into the basement of the building.)

Yeesh that sucks, we have sump pump and we're on a high elevation, so if water can't drain out of the floor drain then a bit of water in the basement is probably the least of our worries! I think anything bigger than those UPS would be whole home backup as we already have solar, so rather we go for battery backup.. but still waiting on battery prices to not be silly!

@@JenxTech I have the same issue I have two small 1500 Eaton 5S units. The battery for each is $100 and the delivery (in the same city mind you!) isd $100 each and the batteries fail every 11 -12 months on average. So, I must factor in $400 for my battery replacements every year. They are considered a hazardous delivery by the company, so I must pay a surcharge (I call it a pandemic fraud charge). I am tempted to show up at their office in a bunny suit, full facial respirator and mask and ask to return the battery!

I feel like it's one of those things, I did it quickly at first when moving in and thought it was "good enough", then I do it again and am like, "how did I put up with this", then I do it again, and again... I think it's one of those things you can spend infinite time on and still not be perfect!
