have you tried a soft blanket? I know my nieces and nephews when they were little wouldnt go for a nap unless they had their blanket. They would suck their thumb and rub the blanket on their face. In fact I think my baby brother did that too. Might be something to think about. Let her pick out the blanket to replace the Minnies, hopefully it will help!

My niece when she was stella age and younger and she would suck her thumb, and pull on her opposite ear. My sister thought she had an ear infection, she did not but the pediatrician said it is common for a child who sucks their thumb, it is a means to do something with both of her hands. She is now 10 and did grow out of it. Hopefully there is something that would help her not pull her hair :(

Have you tried giving Stella a small (large washcloth size) piece of a blanket or some other soft cloth? It seems she is using her rubbing as a soothing and calming method to go to sleep. Maybe some kind of woven cotton with a satin trim or tabs around the sides of different kinds of fabric to feel would help. Someone who sews could easily make it. It is a sensory issue. She likes the feel of the cotton and apparently her hair. I was super impressed with Livvy counting up from seven to get to ten! I taught first grade and many kids age 6/7 struggled to be able to say 7 and count up! Livvy is a bright girl! Sweet too, "You can get some too." (Ice cream).

My granddaughter done the same thing. She sucked her two middle fingers. We switched her to a cotton blanket with the silk trim. Also we cut the arms off her stuffed animals and sewed them with dental floss. She is 14 and still rubs the bottom of the blanket where the silk us and or rubs the arms of her Elmo across her cheek and nose. She stopped pulling her hair after we done the silk blanket trim and gave her only the arm and legs from her Elmo's.
