Have you done any axles upgrades on you rig? I use iKamper 2.0 full size for couple years now, great RTT. If anyone curiuos biggest upgrade for 3.0 is ability to keep the bedding inside. It is huge. Such a pain in 2.0 to deal with that. Two others are pull up side curtains and a bag for rods. Very convenient. Might be small improvements but when you camp days and days in a season it adds up quickly.

I wouldn't worry too much about aerodynamics if I had a lifted Jeep Gladiator with a roof rack riding on big off-road tires.
@gunstrucksbbq Жыл бұрын
Its a lot of space for the size. Dig the rack you put on the roof that looks like a nice setup they work well together!

The icamper is awesome. My favorite feature is the attached ladder. And for the key. I will just put it on a storage magnet and leave it by the tent. And I have also discovered where I'm going to mount my rod and reels. Hope y'all make an attachable tackle box 👍

Just a dream come true. Freakin great job guys. Absolutely love it.

Good idea Mitchell! I like the idea of a hide a key or something around that area and the Steel Overland Ruff Rax Rack has a ton of nooks and crannies to hide it.

A lot of people have put the peel and stick carpet on the base inside of the RTT. Prevents condensation, adds a little warmth, sound deadening, and prevents all that movement. The only concern for many RTT's is the weather. Mold can happen within 24 hours if it's raining and there is no way to dry it out. I've also noticed if you are in the snow, the RTT can freeze, and trying to put it back is impossible, also the insulation they make takes away so much internal space and you cant close the RTT with it inside. You would think for the price and a new update they would have figured all these things out. Also with your shoes, once you get inside, use a baking sheet to keep them off your bedding. The major concerns would be going for a piss at night sober or drunk. The RTT is awesome but it requires a different thought process than ground camping. How tall are you?
@Forged4x42 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the awesome feedback! It's definitely a different process from ground camping but we didn't have any issues with the insulation/cold (albeit it didn't even get into the 30's); also at 6'3 it really wasn't bad in terms of height! 🙌

if you like the two mattresses on top of one another, it'd make sense to cut a piece of plush wall-to-wall carpet to cover the bare surface...and now, you can stick half a dozen velcro patches to the bottom of that mattress, and it'll stick to that carpet.

RTT also usually makes you eligible to use RV camp sites, they keep you off the ground which if you’ve ever been in a tent in heavy rain you know sucks.
@gigilaroux7622 жыл бұрын
Can the rainfly be removed? Could one leave a thick sleeping bag in it? Can a solar panel be attached to it? Does it leak anywhere and are there any little sneaky areas where bugs can get in?
@Forged4x42 жыл бұрын
Yes the rainfly can be removed. Yes you can leave a thick sleeping bag and pillows in it. Yes you can put a solar panel on the roof, especially the super slim walkable ones. Yes, thing is super weather resistant. We didn't camp with it in the rain, but have heard it holds up extremely well. Especially when compared to ground tents.
@jameschilds8092 жыл бұрын
You pay for what you get. Nothing good is cheap and nothing is cheap is good. That is definitely a quality RTT. I agree with Mitchell. Definitely need a place to mount fishing poles. Can’t wait to try it out myself once I win this Jeep!!!!!
@Forged4x42 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The quality on this iKamper is noticeably better. RE Fishing Poles.... We'll work on something :)

I wonder just how much bedding you can store inside. do you have to just use the space behind the struts? is it just one down sleeping bag and a pillow or can you have bedding for two? or a thick bagger two people?

enough space for the latter...thicker bag, two people!

Hi thanks for the vid. IMO that mattress does not look comfy. That's clearly a brand new RTT so I'm curious what it's like after an extended period of use. You also didn't mention anything about condensation build up if any. It would be good to know how it performs in that regard also. I look forward to a real world review after it has been properly used extensively. Thanks for sharing

IKamper is legit! And attaching it to the roof rails is fairly straightforward also.
@Forged4x42 жыл бұрын
Thought it would be really tedious but wasn't too bad at all!
@LivingwithXXY2 жыл бұрын
You have to worry about dynamic weight and static weight and having a roof rack that can handle the tent and the people inside. Also the RTT mounted above like his kills your MPG. Lots to think about, wind as well is a huge deal.

Im just going to say it - you are paying 30 bucks for a basic foam “egg carton” mattress. The thing sucks, anyone who even suggests its comfy is way to high that i want what they are on. Once you figure out actual comfort(exped mattress or other), some lighting and then packing it up quick- Its the best tent out there. I will say closing it “easy” is easy once you spend 3 hours one day messing with figuring out your specific bedding and needs. Its extremely frustrating if you dont plan ahead of time. For a tent for 4000 - theres more marketing at play with “comfort” and “room to keep bedding up there” than what’s actually possible. For reference in my old smittybuilt i had a 2 inch foam, 2 inch memory foam and a queen sized comforter up there and it closed up perfectly and quickly. Good luck getting anything other than a sleeping bag thats damn near flat in the ikamper. Its still an issue in the 3.0 and ikamper just sort of ignores people talking about it. I love the quality - but the first month with the ikamper I actually liked it far less than my 600 dollar smittybuilt.
