I agree with you apart from the fact Apple intelligence is coming to the mini. Depending how good AI is then it could be a game changer but no one really knows until it arrives. Over all though it is a underwhelming upgrade.

I love how portable the mini is, I can just slip it in a small satchel, then take it out and play games/write/take notes so that my iPhone won't be doing all the work. I'll definitely get a blue 256gb model

I hate ridiculous thin bezels. These bezels are fine. It’s not a one handed device like a phone. They didn’t do enough to have me upgrade from my mini 6, but it’s an awesome device for what it is. My mini still great. The iPad Pro does the heavier lifting. It’s too small for that type of work anyway.

pre-ordered the base model in blue ( i actually like the faded colors) and will use it mostly for reading as I really don't like using a Kindle and the ipad IMHO is the best reading device on the market. My regular ipad for daily use is the 11" M4 iPad Pro

I love my Mini 6. However, this update doesn’t provide enough improvements to cause me to replace it with the 7. Which is disappointing, and like you, I wonder if this is the last update for the Mini. If so, that would be a shame. If someone has the Mini 5 or no Mini, then it’s an excellent choice.

Our ideal iPad MINI would be a PR version, that is basically everything the iPhone 16 Pro Max is technology-wise, minus the actual cellular call functionality, yet in an iPad Mini form factor… Triple lens design (24MP / 48MP), with action button, plus camera control, thin borders for larger display, OLED 1000 nits / 2000 nits (outdoor), ProMotion 120Hz, A18 Pro or M1, Face ID, Touch ID, LiDAR Scanner, MagSafe, IP68, Titanium Frame, Monitor Display Connection, and Magic Keyboard option… Also would like an iPhone MINI PRO too… 🤔

I bought an ipad 10th gen to use it as a digital notebook and takes quick notes while i’m editing videos on my macbook. I ended up using it as a notebook but i’m not able to use it while working since it’s too bulky. I think this is really the best option for a digital notebook.

Excited about this! I have owned almost every Apple device except iPad mini. For tablets I use a 13”M4 iPad Pro but excited about the form factor for Apple Pencil notes and Apple Intelligence. I rarely use the Apple Pencil pro on my 13” M4 iPad Pro but may use it more with the smaller device. Just pre-ordered the 256GB WIFi version. Trading in an M1 iPad Pro I held onto. Good video Chris and this reinforced my decision to buy. I like how you are trying to downsize the size of your devices and agree with that.

Thanks for the video. Apple has missed a big opportunity here. Could have been a Pro. E.g. iPad Minis are referred over iPad 11" in Aviation (cockpit) running ForeFlight because of the form factor. There is not a lot of real estate in a cockpit.

Great video! All the upgrades are nice but the one thing I wished they would have delivered on is the screen brightness. I use my mini as a content consumption device and I struggle to view it on occasion at home watching content. Even 20% mode would have made world of a difference.

honestly, no major improvements here. The iPad Mini 6 still remains the king (especially given the upcoming price drop on the second hand market). Support to the pencil pro it s good, but not strictly necessary. THERE S NO FREAKING 120HZ, that would have been the main reason for an upgrade, but we re still stuck with 60hz. Thus, not a big improvement, and Apple Intelligence is not out yet and it s a bit of AI here and there, nothing special. Very disappointing.

I have the current iPad mini and the 2020 iPad Pro. I love my mini but with that being said. this is just a lazy upgrade apple did. I wasn't looking for another iPad but I do like watching tech videos. Apple could have did more. Face ID, thinner bezel, "M" series chip in it. The only thing they did that made sense was up the base storage. but also that might not matter either depending on how you use your device. I have the 64gig one and when I bought it I didn't have any intentions on putting as much stuff on it as my regular iPad. apple is just riding off of there name with this one. and why didn't this come out when the other iPads came out?

Why all the hand ringing over upgrading to the iPad Mini 7? I pulled the trigger immediately. I bought the 256K which cost $600 and got a $230 trade-in for my 64K iPad Mini 6 for an out of pocket $370. For me, that’s a bargain. I get a faster processor, four times the memory, a faster USB, improved WiFi and Bluetooth and a brand new device.

I wanted to get it, but now I won’t. I’ll just grab an Android tablet even though I’m fully into the Apple ecosystem. I mean, the iPad Mini 7 is a fine device. But with those specs, it simply can’t cost more than the base iPad 10. Period. You can’t ask for €729 (in the EU) for a 60Hz non-OLED display and 256GB of storage. For €399 or something like that, I would get it, but not for 75% of the price of an iPad Pro.

No regrets getting the M2 iPad Air with a Zugu case. It's all the iPad I could want or need, though I ended up keeping my Mini 6 with Zugu case to use for reading and taking notes with Apple Pencil. Just don't look at the iPad Air and Pro side-by-side. Better not to know what you're missing!😅

Clear story to explain your usecase of the ipad mini but you do realize Apple wants you to buy all of them and that is just rediculus to which Apple could combine them into a single product. I believe (assume) there is a need for a mini workstation (stagemanager etc) that fits in your hand which is not a phone but Apple does not allow that.

I have an old iPad Pro 2nd genial 12.9 inches. It just ran out of upgrades. Time to update. iPad Pro 12.9 is just too cumbersome, too powerful and too expensive for my needs. So lets see the other end of the iPad spectrum. Just ordered a blue iPad mini with 512 gig of storage, wifi only and an Otterbox case...

Underwhelming -had they squished in an M2 with pro motion, people would go nuts. Instead, they go with easy, predictable updates -an A17 pro, and fixing jelly roll (something that should not have been an issue to begin with(, while adding enough memory for unreleased AI software and an Apple Pencil pro with software bump on the same camera- underwhelming.

Twice the RAM and storage is a nice upgrade. If they fixed the jelly scrolling, this is an acceptable upgrade. I was really hoping for ProMotion, but I’m not surprised that it was omitted. The iPad Air didn’t have this feature and this is simply a more compact version of that table.
