When you’re the king you don’t need to compete. Android tablets are all but dead, especially at this form factor. The only decent ones are iPad Pro competitors. Windows tablets exist but then you have to use Windows. By all means, if you have an idea to bring back premium android tablets do it, I loved the Nexus 7.

Worth to mention: There are 3 different versions of the older A15 chip. Two of them got 4 GB RAM. One got 6 GB RAM. iPad Mini 6 (2021 / A15) got 4 GB RAM. I just wanted to point this out so people don't think "A15 equals to 4 GB RAM". Also worth to talk about - the dongle port! Mini 5 - Lightning - 480 Mbps Mini 6 - USB C - 5 Gbps Mini 7 - USB C - 10 Gbps

I can't understand this rentless complaining about the lack of OLED and especially 120hz. I recently saved a lot of money by trading in my 13" M1 iPad Pro for a 10th gen iPad, and it works just fine (easier to hold) in any of my use cases, like watching movies, reading or listening to books and podcasts, writing email and occasionally doing some drawing with my 1th gen Apple Pencil. For more demanding tasks I use my 14" M3 MacBook Pro and I haven't thought for a minute about the advantage of having a 120hz display.

This one was worth waiting for. I just ordered mine I'm purple with 512 GB storage, folio cover and Apple Pencil Pro. It was the USB-C, big storage, and especially the Apple Pencil Pro that I was especially hoping for. Apple Intelligence will be interesting, but it's not what I was looking for. The size is perfect. Big enough but never too big. Crazy portable, it even fits in my jacket pocket. I'm upgrading from an iPad mini 2 with a broken home button. An upgrade well worth it. I already have a bluetooth keyboard (two actually, one is a piano keyboard) for it. I passed on cellular. I can use my iPhone as a hotspot in a pinch. But the chamfered edges on my space gray iPad mini with Retina display still look cool. The squared-off edges of everything nowadays just reminds me of the iPhone 4s that I inherited from my wife. Distinctly old-fashioned.

I prefer when Apple was more simple during the iPad's first 4 years where there was only just that single iPad that got all the latest hardware to offer at the time and packed more things than iPhones. Best you can do is maybe sell it to someone else who wants a 2nd generation pencil. There are so many people using older models that need the 2nd gen but don't want to pay full price for it when they can buy it used. I'm also an iPad mini 6 user and I don't plan on upgrading until Apple makes an iPad mini 8 at least or when Apple no longer updates the mini 6. It's not worth it imo

Get the cellular version even if you plan to hot spot data to it instead of activating a line for it, otherwise the GPS function will be next to useless and nothing close to real time. (This has always been the case for all the iPads.) The battery life using cellular instead of wifi will vary according to the local cell signal strength. Your device will use more power to maintain a connection with a weak signal, than with a strong one. That said, battery life seems fine on the Minis, and a little bit better each version. I bumped my mini 5 to a 6 some time ago, and it's still great. The 7, with the Pencil Pro would have been a nice little companion for my iPad Pro M4, but it wasn't out yet.

Battery life on 5G is very similar (if a bit slightly worse) than on wifi. Should you last you an entire working day comfortably unless you game during breaks. That said, I mostly use mine to browse the web, do social media and read manga/ebooks so I don’t really push it too hard. I mostly game on my M4 Pro

I have the Mini 6 256 gig. The new Mini 7 is mostly spec upgrades . So at $500 for features that the average user won’t even be able to tell the difference , it’s just not worth spending the extra cash for the upgrade . Then you have the added expense of $130 for the new pencil. However , if you are someone with a Mini 5 or earlier then it would definitely be worth upgrading .

Why all the hand ringing over upgrading to the iPad Mini 7? I pulled the trigger immediately. I bought the 256K which cost $600 and got a $230 trade-in for my 64K iPad Mini 6 for an out of pocket $370. For me, that’s a bargain. I get a faster processor, four times the memory, a faster USB, improved WiFi and Bluetooth and a brand new device.

With the iPhone SE getting the biggest upgrade in years, people are definitely going to buy that. Anyone who also wants a good iPad that's not quite portable but also a good partner for the SE 4 would buy the iPad mini 7 (assuming that they haven't owned the mini 6). Assuming that the starting price for the iPhone SE next year is about $459-499, when buying both the SE and base 128 GB iPad mini 7 (no additional accessories included), then a buyer would be able to buy them both for just about $1000 or a little under that. These two would make a killer setup for people who have older models and don't want to spend over $1,000 to buy the more expensive models that can do almost everything that the SE and iPad mini 7 can do.

The new mini is everything it needs to be for a cycle refresh no more no less. It’s a solid tablet that will easily last the 3 years until the cycle refresh it again This is a device squarely aimed at business and professionals for the most part hence why it has flash. Perfect to be a work horse for businesses that need connectivity camera and flash examples for HVAC, plumping and other companies while not being huge and cumbersome.

Been thinking of getting one for a while, but it was a colossal ripoff at $820 AUD for 64GB. Now it’s $800 for 128GB and a better chip. The form factor makes up for the lack of fancy features. Finally the update I’ve been waiting for. Sure it can be better with the OLED, 120 hz, A18 Pro, camera position. But I like the keep the price down and skipped those good to have, but not necessarily features. I mean I’m still using the 5th gen mini and it’s work really good for my purposes, and since I gave to my wife, Ann and my 10.5” pro and 11” pros to my kids, damn I’m using the 9.7 pro and still “ok”, because I do my main tasks on a MacBook. IMO if you’re a Mac user with any Apple silicone, M series iPads are overkill and unnecessary except for some niche professional cases. So I’m really happy about this update ( not an upgrade IMO😂)

It’s almost difficult to either think this is an upgrade or it isn’t. It’s almost unbelievable that it looks like the exact same iPad mini as before. And it’s almost heartbreaking to have to make a choice for the colors that they came out with which the word almost goes in front of every color. I mean it’s almost blue or almost pink.. But it looks like apple finally listens to its fan base on the storage options 512gb I guess I have to get one now… man I can’t wait to get that A-17 recycled chip

We need a pro model ffs. One which will make phone calls, one which can give full desktop support, one with loads of memory and RAM, one which can be a genuine business tool for people like sales reps on the road. But Apple won't give us that, as they expect the same demographic to buy a MacBook, iPad Pro, iPhone and iPad mini.

I use co-pilot to do most of the productivity AI on my old mini 4. Maybe this is an iPad for gamers, but for media munchers and office and professional users, I think most early versions manage.

People often forget the mini is basically a smaller air with an iphone chip, because ofc you can’t fit an m2 in it to make it a “ipad air mini”, as battery life won’t be great… And no you will not get an 120hz oled screen below 500$, the air doesn’t have it, what makes you think this mini will have it People need to get that this is a mini ipad air m2 without the m2 chip
