Land surveyors love them cotton spikes. We used them as control points. It’s easy to drive into asphalt and the point of the survey rod fits perfectly in the indentation on the top

We have homemade drifts and punches made from ground down picker spindles. That is some hard steel in them things.

For sure

The old spindles can make good punches.

That picker looks extremely complicated to maintain but it's still way better than picking cotton by hand!!!!!!!

Why not tighten with torque wrench?
@southernfarmer3 жыл бұрын
We do snug them up with torque wrench, but we must make sure each gear on every spindle is matched up so the spindle will spin in sequence with the entire head

Makes changing bats and brushes on a stripper look like a breeze! Unless you’re changing saws on bur extractor drum,,,,, my DNA is all over several machines roaming the southern plains 🤣

@@southernfarmer we took the work out of it, kind of. We pull the drums and doffer rolls and send them to Lubbock to get them tip top and balanced. Been doin that for 20 years and it’s worth every penny.
