Hi, youtube suggested your channel, so i decided to see what treasures are at the classic bone yard. I partially restored a 66 impala ss convertible back in 07, but i got hurt, and was off work for almost a year, and i had bill's to pay. I had a lot of time and money in that car. I have progressive MS, and muscle wasting on my entire left side. My dr. said i needed to be as active as i can to keep the wheelchair away. I bought a 1954 m38a1 jeep willys, and it's never been titled, the original owner bought it from a governot auction in the 80's, and drove it on his summer property in Northern Michigan. He didn't tear out the 24 volt parts or wiring, but did paint the exterior and awful dark burgundy. I will be sanding it down, and painting it the original olive drab. My grandpa let us drive an old 67 mule around the farm, and he had an old army jeep for awhile to. I have always wanted a wwll jeep, because both my grandpa's fought in the war, but up north there's a lot of rust. I got a sweet deal on this 54, and it has the f engine, so i drove about 80 miles, and had it brought home on a flatbed back in the first week of April. Thankfully it only sat a couple year's without running. I put two batteries in yesterday, and all the light's and gauges work, and it turned over and cranked evenly. I rebuilt the carb, but could have tried it, because it was really clean inside. Supposedly this jeep has 37,000 original miles. The brake shoes, drums, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder are all original. I was really surprised, because the radiator is original, with no patches or rust. The gas tank had a thin spot, and leaked after i filled it with water and degreaser, so thankfully i found a new one pretty cheap , and just as heavy as the original. It was cheaper to buy a tank than to go through the process of patching, and sealing the thin metal inside the tank. The seats have the original cushions and covers in good shape, think the mileage might be accurate. The man who owned it passed away, and his daughter sold it to me, i think she sold it cheap because she didn't know much about it, and it had been sitting outside over the winter uncovered, and i think it scared people from coming to see it. The guy who brought it to my house wished he'd have known it was for sale, because he would have bought it. He looked it over, and said i got a good deal, he wants me to send him picture's when it's done, and said he would buy it i decided to sell it. I don't plan on selling it, already have a lot of time and money in it, and I'd probably never find one this nice, at a price i could afford. My dad and grandpa taught me how to fix thing's, and build stuff as a kid, even though i'm a girl, because my brother is a lot younger than me, so i became the helper pretty young. Back in the 70's and 80's, cheap child labor was common lol. I learned a lot, and have fixed stuff all my life, and its saved me a lot of money. Sorry i rambled, but most of my family have passed away, and i don't have anyone to share my enthusiasm for restoring this old jeep. G-d bless.

Well it sounds like you know a lot about mechanicals and such. Sorry to hear about your health problems , I’m 68 and this you tube channel keeps me from laying around in the house all day. I wish I could put a video out every week but right now it’s going to have to be every other week. I just don’t have the energy at 68 years old. Keep doing as much as you can and tinkering with your toys lol. Thank you for watching and subscribing to my channel. Keep in touch and comment any time you like. I’m looking for more old car junkyards around me to video so stay tuned.

44:50..your had a shot engine...Mopar cop cars even all C bodies of that era were quicker than most muscle cars! 0-100 mph in a 1970 Fury Cop Car would blow the doors off a 390 Mustang!! 396 Chevelle and 400 Buicks and many others and even bigger engine cars. Remember you probably were running on 6 of the 8 cyl or they put in a 225 slant 6...or a dead smog 1978 engine... I have C bodies with 383 hp 4bbl and they run mid 13's int he 1/4 mile basically 2 tenths off my 383 Super Bee was..a 440 in a C body will beat a 383 car and easily beat a Ford 390 even 429 cars easily! Remember how they tested cars back then ,tracks were not prepped nor sticky like today..Road tests were mostly on side streets or parking lots and if at the track 1 st gear was never used as they just spun, even GM/Ford performance cars or big engine pre 1971 cars.. Even the smog version 440 Fury ran 15 flat in the 1/4 and I had one it performed like my 69 Polara with a 383 2 barrel... I even have a 65 Mercury Monterey with a 410 and it's quicker than a new 5.0 F-150..My Mercury is bone stock, never rebuilt, compression is perfect on all 8 one is 10psi lower than the rest but nonetheless...I rebuilt the carb, water pump rest is stock! It is slower than a 440 Fury,NewYorker,Polara etc..1971 and older...In 72 engines were all changed and low compression, different cam, crank, heads, carb and a lot slower. I owned all types of Ford/Mercury and my 383 Magnum Polara was quicker than my 66 390 GTA Fairlane! Albeit my Polara was a 1969.

We had 3 at our car lot. Former Arkansas state police cars. I drove two of them to our local Dragstrip and they ran mid 10’s in the 1/8 mile. All were geared for top end speed, all were 440’s.
