@@purplemelody3216 the greatest irony for me is that it's our own fault as Army that some of these terms keep appearing. I would imagine it's the same for Swifties and a few other massive and well established fan bases.

you taking time at the beginning to both clear up misunderstandings, but also show respect and willingness to listen and learn, says a lot about you. as far as pausing the video all the time, it's no problem! :) pausing to share thoughts is much appreciated over forgetting half of it at the end or talking over the video and missing possibly important parts.

Martha Graham’s quote was the inspiration for the song: "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is more painful.” Black Swan tells the story of a dancer, an artist, who fears the death of their career: the moment when they can no longer perform on stage. The moment when music no longer touches BTS’s hearts or stirs their passion is the moment when the specter of that “first death” appears.

Don't neglect your other content as you get deeper into BTS. If you find this happening, I've seen other creators start a 2nd channel & separate their content. Then their original fans don't get too upset. You can ask ARMY to post requests with the genre listed. Maybe keep a list with a tally & pick from most requested. Try to watch a video (if there is one) before watching a live performance. That way, you can read the lyrics. Run BTS & Dionysius don't have videos.

BTS tends to portray ideas and thoughts very well in their songs or videos. The complexity of most of his compositions beautifully expresses his creative and artistic choices. To do this, they use various devices and symbols, linking literary, psychological and social references. Repeating words is a deliberate literary device that puts emphasis on something and is called Epizeuxis. In this case, "bump, bump, bump" is the sound of the heartbeat and conveys the heightened sensation of anxiety; and, "jump, jump, jump" deepens the feeling of depression and dark thoughts, adding layers of complexity to the lyrics. In the case of "nah, nah, nah" and "yeah, yeah, yeah" the repetition makes the song accessible to BTS's multinational and multilingual audience where fans from diverse backgrounds can easily sing along, creating a sense of unity and connection. . This MV was filmed at the Los Angeles Theater. “Black Swan” is inspired by the psychological theories of Carl Jung and explores the concept of “Shadow” which addresses the darkest things that exist in all of us and that we hide or repress, for example, our fears and doubts or our prejudices. It is based on the following quote from dancer and choreographer Martha Graham, “a dancer dies twice - once when she stops dancing, and this first death is the most painful”. That's why it's relatable to Tchaikovsky's famous ballet, "Swan Lake", where there is a White Swan (good) and a Black Swan (evil). It is demonstrated throughout the video by the choreography and the colors of her black, white and gray clothes. This song has an essentially deep and personal meaning for BTS, as it refers to the fear of losing their passion for music. The video portrays the struggle within oneself between light and darkness, with beautiful visuals, powerful choreography and emotional vocals, adding depth to the narrative and representing the artists' internal conflicts and emotions. But the lyrics end with the hope that they will fight this feeling by looking deeper into themselves, understanding their feelings, knowing themselves better, and using those feelings as inspiration to make more music. 💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜

@@VictorNightroad9:48 You must be referring to their other MV "Boy with Luv" which is quite flashy, poppy, & colorful. By pointing that out, you're making me think you have no idea how deep & complex BTS music is. To help you understand, in "Black Swan" you notice that MV is mostly black/white & not colorful so you quite like it compared to "Boy with Luv". Cause it seems more real & less superficial. But have you ever thought that maybe the two MV's are interconnected? Never right? Cause they seem to be the exact opposite & completely unrelated. Which IS exactly the point. The other one is bright & colorful while this one is quite dull in terms of visuals & sound. In BTS discography, there's no such thing is coincidence. For example in Black Swan isn't quite obvious that they're always inside a THEATER. But in "Boy with Luv", I bet you never noticed that they're also in a theater. Except they're mostly OUTSIDE performing and the theater outside has a huge sign that says "PERSONA". So what does it all mean? Why am I pointing out such irrelevant details? You see, I'm a psychology student so it's quite easy for me to understand BTS since BTS is also using & teaching psychology. This album is specifically called "Map of the Soul" which is similar to Carl Jung's book "Map of the Soul", who introduced the concept that human beings have archetypes mainly the PERSONA, SHADOW, & EGO. The PERSONA is the "you" that you want to present to the world (It's not the real you) which oftentimes comes across as fake. Your SHADOW, is however the "you" that you want to hide, cause it has all your dark sides including your fear & unwanted desires. The Ego, is the real you which is based in reality, which is interconnected with another concept Psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud which is the Id, Ego, & Super ego. Another concept in Psychology I won't bother to explain. Anyways, back to the Persona & Shadow. The "Boy with Luv" MV is basically BTS' outward Persona, which is why they are outside of theatre (self) and why it seems too colorful, rainbowy, & quite superficial. I mean isn't that exactly how others perceive them? Just a bunch of Flowery boys, who just sing and dance about superficial things like "love". Heavy on make up, flashy visuals & have no artistry or whatsoever. Their music is so poppy, happy & bright, it's so fake that's why they're so loved worldwide. Isn't that "Boy with Luv" MV completely depicts their PERSONA? However, Black Swan MV seems to be the exact opposite, in terms of visual & sound. You can even say it's quite dark & artistic. Cause the Black Swan MV depicts their inner SHADOW that's why they're inside the theater. By the way, you're also great at spotting the shadow doing its own thing at the beginning of the MV, but do you notice that throughout the MV, the shadow would become smaller & gradually disappear? Do you also notice their clothes aren't completely white? Cause in each one white cloth, there's always a black part that seems like trying to consume them. As for the lyrics, isn't it quite interesting how despite how dark & deep the lines are for example the 1st line "My heart no longer beats, when I hear the music play, feels like time has stopped, oh that would be my first death, I'm always afraid of" The tone in their voice doesn't carry any fear at all? The delivery is very dull & monotone. Actually, all of that is intentional. It's just portraying what it feels like to lose passion for the things you love the most. In fact you can contrast his tone of voice to his solo song called "First Love" where you can hear the deep passion in his voice depicting his love for music in contrast with this song where he sounds soulless. So yeah, I wrote this long comment cause I just want you to react to this song called "First Love", the first song that truly got me to BTS.
@prettyshindy57069 күн бұрын
@@rafaelsmith5737It was so nice reading your explanation. That's what I've been trying to get across to other people who questioned me why I love BTS so much, it's because they are so special to me, no idol or other musicians make me so into music like BTS did. From 'No More Dream' the teenager me who aren't so sure what to do after I graduate or even care about so called 'Future' makes me thinking hard as what to do and what kind of a person I want to become when I grow up while I've never thought of that before. They're just so nuanced in sharing the messages/their stories since the very beginning. And I do believe that anyone who's into psychological knowledge like me, let alone a Psychology Major like you, would really love to dig deeper and found the details easier also connecting one story to the other, just like how life is, it goes on, sometimes connecting the past and present, since the present BTS is the results of the Past BTS. We love to find reasons to things as much as we could, so yeah there is never a coincidence in BTS song or MV, they always put thoughts and adding details in the best way to portray every messages.

Thanks for the reaction! Black Swan is actually really deep! It's about a creator's fear of losing their passion for art. In this instance, BTS wondering what it would feel like to no longer love music. It's based on a quote by Martha Graham, "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." These feelings are reflected in lyrics like "The heart does not beat anymore, when listening to music" "Oh that would be my first death I been always afraid of" "If this can no longer make me cry, If this can no longer make my heart flutter, Perhaps, this will be how I die once" "No song can reach me anymore, I cry out a silent cry". Black Swan is from Map of the Soul: 7, which released early 2020 right before Covid. In 2018 they'd suffered severe burnout and depression, and were so lost and done that they nearly disbanded. I personally feel like this album was them diving deeper into those emotions and their inner selves.

OMG! I think this the first time the very first BTS song was Black Swan as far as i can tell though i only been an ARMY since 2019 and didn't really watch reactors until like a year or two after that. Thank you for the reaction! A little backstory to each member RM (he is the leader of the BTS think more like a sport captain than what western Music groups leader means. He started asan underground rapper Ranch Randa [i def spelt that wrong, I think, I'm sorry] and known for his lyricism. He has the most music and song credits of the group. He always puts his members before himself in important matters. [Example: he was the only one featured in the Remix of Old Town Road and was invited to perform it at the Grammys, but he brought all his members to perform with him.] He is rather clumsy yet a genius. He taught himself English by watching the sitcom FRIENDS. His birthday is September 12, 1994. His real name is Kim Namjoon. [Note: Korean names have family name/surname before given/first name, so westernized his name would be Namjoon Kim.] He is currently serving his mandatory military enlistment) Suggested Songs: Wildflower, Come Back to Me, Still Life Jin (he is the oldest of the group. In Korea, being the oldest comes with respect and authority. He doesn't use his hyung card [hyung means big brother yet only use by other men/boys there are similar for girls (oppa) to use and big sister(unni and noona)] he is big on joking around and going with the flow. He is a vocalist of the group and known to having a silver voice by critics. He actually joined the company as an actior as he is a theater major. He learned to sing and dance as a trainee. His birthday is December 4, 1992. His name is Kim Seokjin. [Second Note: Kim is the most common surname/family name in South Korea.] He completed his military enlistment in June 2024 and his first official solo album came out Nov 15) Suggested Songs: The Astronaut, Super Tuna, I'll Be There Suga (he is the main producer and rapper of the group. He's the second eldest after Jin. He was also an underground rapper named Gloss. He found the company by their hip hop competition and he was placed 2nd in it. He originally joined the company as a music producer and rapper as he didn't want to dance, but was basically tricked when BTS was converted from a hip hop rap group to a hip hop idol/vocal group. He is an amazing producer as he even won awards for songs he did outside BTS. And such an out of this world rapper. He seems distant and could on the surface, but he is a marshmallow especially with his members. He can be a savage respectfully with witty response. His stage name comes from basketball, shooting guard, which he loves to play. For his solo music he goes by Agust D. His birthday is March 9, 1993. His name is Min Yoongi. He is currently in military) Suggested Songs: Daechwita, Haeguem, Amygdala j-hope (the sunshine of the group! Also, he joined as a dancer who learned from RM and Suga how to rap. He has his own unique style when rapping. I believe somebody mentioned they the Rapline is as following: “Namjoon analyzes the world, Yoongi criticizes the world, and Hoseok visualizes the world.” I agree wholeheartedly with this statement whoever wrote this is amazing. Hobi is a ball of energy and an amazing dancer. He started dancing when he was young and was the youngest to join his hip hop dance crew: NEURON. He was known to being able to learn the complicated choreographies fastest of the BTS members and would guide the other members through the dances when needed. He did lives where he freestyle dances called Hope on the Street which is ironically his second album’s name. His birthday is February 18, 1994 and real name is Jung Hoseok. He finished his enlistment in October 2024, after eighteen months) Suggested Songs: on the street, MORE, NEURON Jimin (He is the vocalist and dancer of the group. A perfectionist with a quiet, reserved, and serious demeanor. He is also known for his smooth and elegant dance moves, and is considered one of the best dancers in BTS and K-pop. He is affectionate, especially with his members and usually the first to comfort them when they are down. He has a background of contemporary dancing and Korean traditional.dances and was a top student at Busan High School of Arts. His birthday is October 13, 1995. His name is Park Jimin. He is still in military service) Suggested Songs: Like Crazy, Set Me Free pt2, Who V (He is the baritone vocalist of the group. He is from a farming family and always knew he should be doing music. His parents told him to choose an instrument and he decided on the saxophone. He has an old spirit, jazz and r&b, he even learn whilst in BTS the violin [he stopped if I'm not mistaken] and the trumpet [pretty sure he continued playing it]. He actually acted in a k drama “Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth” and contributed the single "It's Definitely You" to its soundtrack. Jin and V sing the song. He has an unique perspective on life. His birthday is December 30, 1995; real name Kim Taehyung. He is still doing his mandatory service) Suggested Songs: Rainy Day, Blue, Slow Dancing Jungkook (He is the maknae of the group.aka the youngest. He was only 13 when he started training in the company. [That's another note: until last year (2023) South Korea had their own aging system and switched to international aging. Some parts of their society still go by the Korean aging which is you're considered 1 year old when you are born and on new year you gain a year. That doesn't mean Koreans don't celebrate birthdays at the time of birth, just that your year increases at New Years.] He was basically raised by the members, they come to his high school entrance and graduation celebrations. He said himself that he was basically a sponge that absorbed the other members’ personalities that blend together to form his own unique self. He is very close to the members that if something happens to them he'll be upset. He is sensitive about his fans too. His birthday is September 1, 1997 and his name is Jeon Jungkook. Still doing his military service at this time) Suggested Songs: Stabding Next to You, Still With You, My You I did 3 songs for each member Song Recommendations for the group: Tomorrow - Unfortunately, there's no music videos, but you can find English subs Life Goes On - there is a music video (actually 4 of them if I'm not mistaken) Young Forever - there is a music video Butterfly - there isn't exactly a music video though sort of is. Run - there is a music video and watch until the very end. Run BTS - there isn't a music video 2! 3! - no music video. First fan song. ON - watch either the original music video or the Manifesto one, both are awesome and should be watch IDOL - has 2 musuc videos, 1 has a featured artist in it Boy in Luv - has a music video Boy with Luv - has music video ANPANMAN - no music video Just One Day - has music video I think that's enough for now.

Greetings from Romania 💜🇹🇩

'Shadow' is a term in Jungian Psychology a the whole album explores Jungian Psychology in relationship to their own lives along with the concept of 'Persona' and 'Ego' Black Swan is about their real fear the fear of losing their passion for their art of Song writing, Composing, Producing, Rapping, Singing, Dancing. They all played each other Shadow that represent their fear.

To add to that I want to point out that boy with luv, especially the music video represents their persona, the way they want to present them selves to the outside world. The persona is basically a mask that you would wear. It's not really you but how you want other people to see you. Which is why the video is so bubbly and colorful and obnoxiously happy lol. (you'll see the mask motif come up when/if you react to fake love. I have a feeling you'll like it as well, it's also pretty dark in tone ) And the shadow is what you shove deep down into your psyche. Things that you don't want to surface or things that you don't want to acknowledge. Black swan is one such thought; the fear of loosing their passion for their craft. And the lyrics does such a good job in visualizing that anxiety. It hits even harder when you know just how much music means to them. If you are willing to explore more of their work you'll find out that most of their music/music videos are connected one way or another. Even though they might seem polar opposites they are somehow connected. Which is something I personally love about BTS. Their earlier stuff also had a running fictional story line. I'm mentioning these things because I'm amazed at the work they put into their craft. Down to the tiniest little detail everything is thought out. The few exceptions being their English trilogy, that happened because of the pandemic and they wanted to do something to cheer us up

Welcome (to BTS) -- I came from the first video to see how you handled the feedback ... thank you for immediately listening and taking the two stated concerns seriously enough to make changes. Honest accountability is appreciated by ARMY and is a huge part of the culture BTS has asked ARMY to hold up. Your reactions are so honest. Thank you for being open to listening to these seven amazing young men.

Thank you for sharing your honest reactions with us. With "Black Swan," BTS divulge their most harrowing shadow yet, one that any person who lives for making art faces: losing the passion for creating. "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." Martha Graham. This quote is at the root of the sentiments inlaid in "Black Swan." Much like a dancer feels purposeless when they can no longer express themselves through dance, BTS contends that the day that music no longer fills them with the same passionate fire as before, or even if there came a day when they stopped creating music - what they feel is their life's purpose - it would feel like death. RM sings, "If this can no longer resonate / No longer make my heart vibrate / Then this may be how I die my first death." Once again, BTS affirm that despite their countless record-breaking accolades, the wealth they've amassed, and their ever-increasing fame, they are artists. What means most to them is the art - music, visuals, dances - that they create. 💜You need to watch a live version of this song, or the dance practice video. Have a great day... Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺

Thank you for your reaction. Black Swan is one of my favourite song of BTS because of the choreography and the meaning of the lyrics, it is very deep and dark! But it is normal that it's not your genre, but BTS has so many genre so I am sure you will find the one that you will like the most! Hoping for your next reaction. But I suggest you to start to one of their oldest song, because in this way you can see how much they have grown up in these 10 years. Like "No More Dreams", they were so young and was their debut song! It is beautiful follow their journey 😊

Thanks for reacting to BTS ! I think they will surprise you on many levels as you go through their discography and more. :) I'm probably not qualified enough to write a proper introduction on who these gentlemen are but basically BTS is a South-Korean group that has, no lie, the widest range of music any artist have and hundreds of songs. That means, no matter what your genre is, you'll find songs you love and some you might enjoy less. Anyways, as much as medias like to put groups in a box, BTS is no typical "boyband" and even in the Kpop industry, they're totally different. BTS are pionniers in some way and have a totally different story. But most of all, they've been working very hard for a decade, literally starting from scratch in a company that was on the verge on bankruptcy only to have made this company one of the biggest economic sources in South Korea nowadays. They literally are the one who paved the way for Kpop artist out of Korea. To make it short, there are 3 rappers and 4 singers. Before debuting, two of them were underground rappers and another two of them were dancers. And on top of being amazing rappers, singers and dancers ; BTS members write, produce, take part in the artistic concepts, music videos, dance choreographies, ideas... Everything basically, in collaboration with their company staff and artists. They're really on a lane of their own and I think you'll see that for yourself when you react to more. Plus, they have one of the strongest bond with their fans (called the BTS Army) and they just reciprocate all the love they receive from us and even more. Now, to give you important CURRENT informations : In 2022 BTS announced a break from group activities to focus on solo projects, promising to be back by 2025. Later on, we got to know that this break was also to perform their 18 months mandatory military service as South Korean citizens. One by one, they released solo stuff and one by one they started their military service. Jin (the oldest) went first and finished in June 2024. J-Hope (another member) finished in October 2024. At the moment, the others are still in the military and will be done in June 2025). Their solo works are amazing, they gave us wonderful music even as soloists and they broke records on records individually. But they also keep on repeating that they can't wait to get back to work TOGETHER. I think this break was necessary for them to take time and BREATH (because being BTS is exhausting) but I also think that they miss each other deeply as they have express multiple times. So, the contract being signed, neither us or them can wait for 2025 at this point !! That being said, I hope you react to more ! :D Including live stages please Also, I think you should definitely react to the different fan-made guides about BTS. They'll put you on many informations about the group, the members, how they work and everything basically. Because above learning about their group history, these guides make you understand their music a lot more in some way. That was my case when I first became a fan (and I'm sure I'm not the only one). I guess learning about the background of each member, their background as a group and the way they work for their craft, makes you understand the music (and the artistry) in a much more complete way. One of the most complete (and amazingly made) guide is : "A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7" (by Taylor Mari). Hope you'll react to it ! In any case, enjoy the journey !!

Taking the first few moments to address some of the concerns or misunderstandings from the previous video is first class, sir. I really liked the way you seemed to accept them for what they were, but also didn't take them personally and get that we can never make everyone happy in life or content creation. I really like your chill vibe (and your cat - mine also likes to remind me she is here at the most inconvenient moments) and look forward to more of your content - BTS or otherwise. Subscribed. Thanks for reacting to Black Swan. 💜 It's about the inner fear of artists when/if they lose the drive for their art. This state is described as the first death by Martha Graham a famous ballet dancer. Inner fears, represented as shadows, is a part of their concept for album "Map Of The Soul 7" and this song is from that album. Its all about Persona, Shadow, and Ego ( here it means conquering/overcoming) based on Karl Jung's theory. Boy with Love is also from this album. So anytime you react to a song of this album keep this concept in mind.

All the members are great dancers but the main dancer here was Jimin! He’s trained in contemporary dance and ballet (he’s great at hiphop too since that’s what BTS mainly do). You appreciated his dancing specifically about four times in this video (that I noticed lol) so I wanted to let you know who the dancer you’ve been appreciating is. He did the background shadow dance scenes, all the scenes where the was one single dancer, and in the scene where there was one dancer dancing down the line it was also Jimin. He’s BTS’s main dancer (along with J-hope)

Black Swan is a song about the fear of losing passion for their art. It's based on the quote of a famous dancer, Martha Graham, who once said: “a dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful" One of my favourite MVs is 'I Need U' You could also react to live performances. Their 2021 Festa Live Room is a compilation of samples from mostly their B-sides from 2013-2021. It's great to see their range and talent!

Can't hate something if you haven't experienced it. It's such a strong word so definitely use it wisely. As long as you're open to new things (like BTS in this case) ARMYs are pretty cool about it. You don't have to like any of their songs. We just appreciate an honest reaction. Think of BTS as art...very subjective so each person will resonate with it differently.

The song is also based on Martha Graham's article about artist, especially dancers, have to stop performing their art early and she considered that the first death. In addition, the memory of your previous artist life follows you like a shadow for the rest of your life.

“Black Swan” focuses on the fear of losing your love for music. All of these fears, pressures, and doubts manifest in the shadows heard and seen in “Black Swan.” In the music video, Jimin dances alone, succumbing to shadows. He is the black swan, who agonizes. And there is a parallel between the ballerina who can no longer dance and the musician who loses inspiration. Black Swan is a song inspired by the Martha Graham quote: “A dancer dies twice; The first death is when you stop dancing, and that death is infinitely more painful.” BTS took this and applied it to the moment when an artist's inspiration leaves them, when they may no longer feel love and passion for their music. The industry can put a lot of pressure on the artist. The "creator" BTS's Bang Si-hyuk has always given them a lot of freedom to live their art, but fame brings a lot of pressure, from the company, fans, the media, etc. Fear that making music means no longer living art in a true way.

Look honestly 1:00 kpop “hater” is a strong term but I had it in a sense. It wasn’t the music or art I was opposed to diving into, it was the treatment of the artists by greedy adults and the demand to be absolutely perfect 100% of the time and starting them so young as well. It can get brutal and it took me a while to come around and realise BTS were different. Not just different, but AWARE of it, and doing their damn best to change it. And they have. Knowing that very early I dove right in without looking back. I’m very predominantly a metal head/80s rock fan but I found their music so different to everything I’ve heard, from musical arrangements, deep lyrics and really spicy adlibs that just make a track ✨🤌🏼👌 they have so much music you can easily find something that suits your tastes

Black Swan was my introduction to BTS and I fell in love with this group. I'm in my late 60's in the U.S. and became official ARMY member a few months after seeing this MV. I haven't gotten to see them live at all, as getting just one ticket to a concert is, as someone else put it, like Hunger Games! No Lie!!! They sell out stadiums over 4 nights in pre-sale and in less than an hour!! Anyway, Black Swan has to do with fear of losing their passion for their art (music, singing, rapping, writing, dancing, etc.). I'm a bit of an anomaly, I guess, because I don't listen to K-Pop, but I DO listen to BTS and support them as fully as I'm able to do so. Thank you for reacting to them. I hope you continue, and enjoy the journey!
