AHA!! Found it!!! I was over on the ROLAND HP-702 review (Which was great!) and now I found the other option that I am considering!! Suggested by Mark up in the MI store! Thanks, Ted, for mentioning that the 201 which has a LOT packed into it for the average at-home digital piano! Again.... great and informative video! My thanks to you both for opening up our eyes!

@@shaolin95 the main difference in the feel is that it(CA49) has wooden keys but virtually the same action but not the upgraded felt. I did fall for the CA49 first time I played it though. So the CN 301 should feel super similar.

I have no idea how many of your videos I have consumed in my decision toward buying a digital piano for my daughter. I had agonized between the CA49 and CN301 and finally decided on the latter for its being a newer model. I hope I made the correct decision - as I resolve to the philosophy of "good enough is good enough". Thank you.

Specs can be very deceiving. For example, both the Kawai CN301 and CA59 have the same speakers: 13 cm woofers firing down and 8x12 cm speakers firing up. So, you would think that you will get the same sound signature... not quite! This is the catch: the CN301 has the 13 cm woofers mounted on the same box shared with the 8x12 cm oval speakers and the electronics. It's all in the same box with no dedicated individual boxes for the top and bottom speakers. But the CA59 has a large box under the piano for the 13 cm woofers, separated from the top box. Does it matter? Absolutely. All the frequencies get jumbled up from 4 speakers facing different directions in the CN301, with no dedicated speaker box. This shows that specs alone don't tell the whole story. The fact that the CA59 has more powerful amplifiers is not nearly as relevant as the speaker configuration. You do get a bit over twice the power in the CA59, but doubling the power only translates to 3 dB volume increase, which is barely noticeable. The most impactful issue is the speaker configuration. In addition, you get the HI-XL engine rather than the PHI, which means better samples.

It has better sound and line in/out. Besides better poliphony and more sounds. It also depends on the price difference, found it with only a few hundred dollars difference.

@@cronox.514 I love playing it. I think the action comes very close to acoustic piano’s. At first I really enjoyed the sound coming out of it too, and people that occasionally hear it think the speakers are really good. But I usually play with headphones that sound so good, that when I play without the headphones, it makes me feel disappointed with the sound coming from the speakers. I don’t really mind as I play with headphones anyway, but it’s something you’d like to consider.

The Virtual Technician app is only available for iPad, not iPhone 😕

I don't think these new models use Virtual Technician. They use the updated Piano Remote app, which is available for iOS and Android.
