I wish Kershaw would take a step back from their overly busy knife handles that do nothing to improve grip or serve as a real function. Lots of their designs are gas stationy as hell. Edit: The Inception looks clean. Looks like it would be comfy in the hand. Edit: A cleaver auto? Meh.

Yeah, they have cool(ish) models here and there... but they should really get back to the Dividend/Cryo/Leek/Natrix design language imo. Especially nowadays theres such an emphasis/attraction towards minimalist design. Hell, the Elementum is oe of the simplest designs out there rn, and that thing kills it with sales!

@@superrad1659 Absolutely, love the design of the Elementum. I’m not against some interesting angles and such. Or the application of some inlay or “onlay” materials. I’m just not interested in having them installed “just because”. Or having them installed in a way that makes it look like an afterthought. I bought a Launch 7 because it was the only 4” auto Kershaw was making with a nice blade shape. I hate the handle because of the excessive milling work that was done on it that does nothing to improve the grip. Lots of odd, pointless milling of spots, slots and angles. Along with a crappy little plastic backspacer with a random row of dots on it. It’s not a bad knife. The blade is thin and slices well and has a good shape. But the ugly ass handle makes me feel like I’m spending time with that ugly girl in high school that put out, but you didn’t want your friends to see you with her.

I fully agree. I still watch them regularly because I know how hard they're trying and the amount of work that they put in to it and I still want to support that. But they're my second (sometimes third behind SMKW) knife "show" to watch. I can't put my finger on it but I think it had to do with getting "just the facts" along with great shots of the knives. The "discussion panel" setup is hard to pull off unless there's a real chemistry between the presenters and both have a certain personality. I know they keep swapping around presenters trying to find that niche, but it hasn't clicked for me yet. (Not like Ben and what's his name) I think these current guys would be better outside being natural than behind a desk because their vids of them running around the warehouse pulling certain knives feels so much more enjoyable for me.

I love Kershaw, have many of them along with numerous other makes. I totally understand and respect their option of offering budget lines and more premium US made knives. My two wishes from Kershaw is that they would offer a "premium" version of the 1530 (or similar) with at least 154cm with ambi thumb studs and maybe more handle material options. I constantly keep going back to using this little knife, it flicks extremely well and is quite smooth especially considering its price point. Also, i wish they would offer different blade profiles for some of their Launch series. IMO their Launch series rival, or even surpass the action of Protech.

2 cents from a long time Kerahaw fan (for better AND for worse...) Really enjoyed the interview, thanks guys! Espresso the last bit where you visited about design some “inside” baseball... more of THAT please. My first “really nice” knife was a Kerahaw Talon in g-10. It was a workhorse and serves me well to this day. (Over 20 years) I carried a murdered out (all black) Kerahaw Ken Onion Whirlwind in my tuxedo on my wedding day. Pretty fun day to pull out a knife like that over and over... people tend to behave. Lol. I was not happy when it seemed Kerahaw had moved all meaningful output overseas. I was super encouraged to see ZT hold the line and now it seems Kerahaw is going to find a way to walk that line and do both. Right on. Give us both. Perfecto. Civi is NOT going away so gotta compete. That said, the USA launch 14 is pretty Bad @$$ IMO. BRAVO. Likewise the imported Kershaw Parley is superb. Well done guys. And yes, all budget knives should have D2 steel or Aus 10 or VG 10 but i guess thats what exclusives are for. Thanks again for the content.

Kershaw has been a mainstay for me since the Blur and Leek. I've got well over a dozen different styles and multiples of many of them. That said I recently got my 1st Launch, the Launch 13, and I had my heart broken. The tip chipped off when it BARELY made contact with my phone case holster when I opened it. I was in a state of shock bc I've always had AMAZING experiences with Kershaw. The company I bought it from made it a little less painful by giving me a discount on a replacement and I've since put a new tip on it but the fact that it happened, with an American blade no less, at all has slightly shaken my confidence. I still carry the repaired blade every day, partially bc it's been repaired and partially bc the American flag on it is slightly larger, but I find myself babying it more than I feel I should have to.

Exactly. Design the knives for knife people and the non knife people will still buy it. What's on the shelf is what informs their decisions (non knife people) on what knife to buy. You don't have to skew the design towards them. I wish they would stay away from that kind of "fun" in their designs.

Atom "knife" reminds of Yakut knives in Siberia. What I have found out about the history of this knife is that it was first made of bone or antler parts. It was sharpened only from one side against the rock or some other abrasive material. That is the reason it has a scoop side of the blade. Later when steel was introduced to those regions local knife makers just followed the traditional way shaping the blade in similar way. Otherwise - Launch 14 is the coolest looking knives of all the bunch.

They're going with the periodical release like Spyderco. I think its a very smart way to go. Kudos Kershaw. Pretty excited about the brand. You're keeping up with the best.

Launch 14 and the Federalist rock. We need more of that Kershaw. Please come out with a premium version of the Bareknuckle. A ZT model would be perfect for it. As least come out with a Titanium version or the 20CV ones again.

Love that polished black micarta with the stainless bolsters, and especially with what looked like brass liners - know of any small edc knives with the same style but with a liner lock and thumb-stud? Maybe something Italian?

I like this guy. He looks like the old Kershaw/ZT sales guy’s son. I appreciate kershaw putting reversible clips on most of their new lineup, CRKT has all but abandoned lefties. Would love to see KAI use more crossbar style locks or come up with their own proprietary lock, like Leatherman did with their new lineup.

I love your channel and offer knives here all the time. But it really looks like these new kershaws were designed by an 10 year old. They literally go from play school knives, to $200. Not really any good in between. And we're all speedsafe'd out.

Inception is bomb, but I would have liked to see it in a different steel. I hope someone does an S30V/S35VN/S45VN* if it takes off. I don't know if distributors do exclusives on Kershaw imports, but heres to hoping. Still love D2...its a great steel, but I think the design is worthy of some super high performance. Fun fact, I did a shadow profile check, and the blade shape and size is a perfect match with the Bugout 535. The swage is different, but otherwise, its identical. Coincidence? I only hope the cutting geometry is anywhere near the same. If it is, they have a keeper for sure.

Personally I abandoned any hope. they will continue to put out 8cr13mov knives made in China for the same price of well made chinese knives in better steels so they don't even have the excuse of the american workers being payed more than the chinese workers.

I was expecting Kershaw to take a more futuristic hi-tech way to go, looking at some of last year ones. A little disappointed, to be honest. I really love Kershaw, but this year I've got nothing to buy. Inception is a nice one, but I already have Atmos, which is pretty much the same but better.
