New Kids were the best! Raw and un manufactured talent. Straight real!

Well, manufactured they were. Still, a lot of them knew each other prior to this, and yes, their talent was/is legit.

@@dallasbagley I never believed they weren't singing on Hangin' Tough and every subsequent album after that. All of them can sing and they can sing very well. :)

@@CelesteKTheNewWaveRevuetrue. They never lip synched when play performed or on any other studio albums. They had their background tracks sometimes, but even then, their microphones were always on live and you could always hear them live. This particular appearance on this show was in 1992 but they talked about it when they came on their Hall in 1990. The video is here on KZbin. Search New Kids on the Block on arsenio Hall 1990 and you can find it. But remember the footage is what we now call "old" lol, back in the day- someone recorded it on the VHS and the tracking is from the technology of that day. We came a long way!

I still remember coming home from school to do my homework to watch this show. I was so mad to hear the non believers throw lip sync accusations that were clearly and completely fabricated. Haters couldn't stand to see them loved by many and succeed. Some people failed to see they sing and nail their choreography. For those uneducated critics that placed judgment on them, it ain't easy to do what they did and still do. They work super hard, travel, exhausted but they still do their magic to give much happiness. Much props to Arsenio Hall for always giving them the opportunity to not only demonstrate their talent worldwide but give them the chance redeem themselves by telling the truth. I was so pissed all day at school but at the end of this show I was super proud of them. Never ever doubted them for one second. That's what a true fan and individual does: stand by their loyalty for another through thick and thin to the end of time. They did justify their dignity. Love the vocals and fashion these fellas dressed. Black turtle neck and black jeans, vests, white tee and blazers (black) blue jeans and BLUE Jean shirts with ties and Stacey Adams (Shoes) were the 90s thing and looks really good on those that can kick it. Sure wish they would've done a Pepsi commercial but it's cool. When they sang "If You Go Away", I remember feeling so emotional. That song is so beautiful. I will always be a proud Blockhead. Love the 2008 album The Block and 2010s 10. In all seriousness, as I've grown older, I've learned to appreciate not only New Kids and my other favorite bands, vocalists, musicians but the art of music. I've seen this world lose many of the greats lately due to bad influence, drugs, crashes, illness, or unforeseen deaths such as Michael Jackson, Prince, Freddie Mercury, Selena, Sam Cooke, Dolores O'Riordan, and too many to name. I appreciate life and valuing life not knowing if tomorrow I may never see them again God forbid. I already felt the sadness seeing some of my personal favorites such as Selena, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Tommy Page pass far before their time. This is why music relaxes, chills, makes me cry, inspires, motivates, and makes me happy. In all honesty, I can say they really are down to earth guys you would grow to like. #BlockHead4Life #NoLipSyncin4Nothing #IfYouGoAway

Yep and remember Milli Vanilli? that's how all this lip singing stuff started because the fake news mainstream media, Now call CNN ABC CBS NBC , etc etc... They all thought that the Milli Vanilli thing was a industry-wide scandal and they got put in their place when they can it make that story run.

And yes to Pepsi, it was always so much better than Coca-cola! We can see here that these accusations were the beginnings of the fake news that we have now

@LeMErin212 жыл бұрын
I imagine they were under added pressure because of the situation, but they all did a good job, and Jordan was great. The end of “If You Go Away” was very good by all of them. And I think Joe has a great voice overall- he’s gotten better and has trained more as he’s aged, and he’s still very solid. They’re definitely better than plenty of “singers” who are currently famous.

It’s so funny because a few years later when the bubblegum pop phase went global, EVERY pop band/popstar would lip sync all the time and no one cared at all! These guys sang live the majority (if not all) of the time almost 360 days per year for 5 years and grafted the hard way.

If it’s their voice they’re lip syncing to it shouldn’t matter. Besides they out there dancing on stage. You have some bands that aren’t moving as much so singing live is not a problem for them.

Their vocals are processed to a bare minimum for this performance, most likely intentionally to prove their point. You can barely hear any reverb. Nowadays, live performances are Autotuned to death.
