New to the channel. I am considering getting goats and have heard good things about Kikos. Liking what I see so far from your channel. Beautiful heard. Curious to know what are commercials? Also did your New buck have a blinder on? And if so what for?
@BoisDArcKikos4 жыл бұрын
Noah Cashmere thanks for subscribing Goats are not bad at all to raise. Just make sure you have good fences. I’m not sure about the blinder question? If you have any other questions ask I will do my best to help. Thanks for watching

First video I have seen and already learned something new. Awesome! I didn't know the chip could go in the tail of goats. Is that the normal spot?
@BoisDArcKikos5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching I’m not sure about another spot that’s where I have been told to put it. I think it’s a good spot because it can’t go anywhere
@RebeccaAndTheCritters5 жыл бұрын
I have only chipped cats and dogs, so I thought it would be the same, between the shoulder blades/ nape of neck. The tail is brilliant for a bigger animal.

New Subscriber here and I have a question about the goats ... What is the difference between the New Zealand, Commercial and Kiko ...
@BoisDArcKikos4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for subscribing Commercial don’t have any registration Purebreds are registered kikos New Zealand are registered kikos with 100% genetics from the first imports that came into the US in the 90’s Thanks for watching
@carlboehm38584 жыл бұрын
@@BoisDArcKikos thank for the quick response ... So if commercial how do you know that they are Kiko or can a commercial also be a cross since they cannot be proven purebred ? Trying to get the right idea as we have a Kiko Buck and some of his offspring but know nothing about the line or genetics. Want to get another Buck and wanted to get the best choice for us. Thanks again
@BoisDArcKikos4 жыл бұрын
Carl Boehm no problem your welcome. Yes commercial can be mixed Mine are all Kiko just didn’t registered them. If your buck is registered you can register his kids @ 50% & then breed them up to a purebred all the does next breeding would be 75% then next would be 88% & son on

Question, will they eat grasses ? I know goats are browsers preferring broad leaves.. But we don't have much in the way of browse, we have awesome Bermuda with of course some stray weeds.. We want some kikos but don't want to make a wrong choice.. We are also in OK and beginning our homestead.. Currently chickens and 3 kune kunes so the New Zealand goat is quite appealing.. Thank you, fresh sub here..
@BoisDArcKikos5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub Yes they will eat Bermuda I have a lot here myself. They will prefer ruffage & weeds first then they will eat the Bermuda or other grasses. I have a little bit of Johnson grass that pops up but they take care of it. I have planted some grasses for them like AU grazer that’s good for them. The Kikos are a great way to start with goats. Low maintenance & easy to maintain
