Thank you for an outstanding practical shooting presentation. Just got my K6XS. As an old Colt guy, this fills the niche of the classic Agent and Cobra with the bolt on oem hammer shroud. Colt, pay attention, there would be interest in a lightwieight new Cobra series but Kimber beat you to it and did it one better. At 7:11 you praised the Hogue tamer grips ergonomics but mentioned that Hickock 45 trimmed his flush at the butt to make it more concealable and pocketable. I refrained from mutilating mine and bought oem K6s boot grips, there is a Crimson Tace logo on the left panel butt, as well as Kimber'son both sides, but these dont have the laser. Kimber has those on their site but Crimson Trace only features the costly ones with the laser. The S&W642 is still smaller in the grip and cylinder, and lighter for the 2oz and plus weight of a 6th cartridge, but both will still be in my carry rotation according to attire. Sometimes its possible to pack both for an 'NYPD Reload.' HKS speedloaders for the D frame Colts work too, as well as some old holsters for the small Colts. Compliments !

Hickok uses it for pocket carry so he just prefers it being more of a boot style grip. but if your gonna holster carry it id prob keep the full grip if you can

642/442 are left in the dust with the k6xs, especially with the QC sw is dumping out right now. Fit/finish is better on the kimber clockwork/barrel/cylinder/sights, the only thing a sw has that the k6xs doesn’t is a tight fitting side plate.

Great review, thank you!!! I have a couple stainless steel 5-shot snubbies that I have carried in the pocket, not impossible to do even though they are in the 24-26oz range when loaded but you know they are there. I have wanted this revolver since I first heard about it and I just ordered one today.

Great trigger--like the others in the K6 series. Replace the S&W 642? Rather doubt it. While the Kimber has one more round capacity, the diminutive Smithy is still smaller--particularly in the grip--which makes it still the premier pocket revolver. Rather just have the 3-inch .357 K6 and be done with it as our gel tests with .38+P show it to be a tepid performer with hollow points when shot from a snubbie. As an aside, I really like how your videos have evolved--keep it up. Although, if you're buying your test guns, rather than getting T&E guns from the manufacturers, you must be spending a fortune, but good for you if you're not beholden to the industry like so many other review channels. Cheers.

Thanks for the comment. It's definitely a zeroed out hobby as far as expenses go but I don't like to be bought by manufacturers. If I were to get sponsored I would definitely be truthful and honest about the product.

@locacarnivore900 Not true, a kimber with boot grip is equivalent or smaller. The hogue oem pinky grips on these are surprisingly good. They might be a 1/4” longer than boots but the boot shows in a pocket more.

HP aren't the reason to use a round. They're an excuse to charge extra for safer ammo. Revolvers shoot wadcutters and semis. Superior to ball and HP.

I've been carrying it in a soft pocket holster. Finish has been holding up well. Probably going to make a leather holster for it soon. It's a really soft shooter with the Hogue tamer grip, handles everything great.

How’s she been handling 38s? Can you give me any type of comparison how it might contrast to shooting say something like a Glock 43? I am guessing it might more tame?
@9MilRidge
@9MilRidge Жыл бұрын
Definitely very tame for a revolver because of the Hogue grip. I would say the recoil would be a little less or very close in comparison.

Question- Can you comment on the trigger reset? I bought a Ruger LCR in .327 specifically for the 6th shot, but the reset is so soft it is easy, too easy, to short stroke the trigger. I do not have that problem with my S&W Airweight(mine is a 438) as the trigger forces itself out to the reset point. ANy feedback would be appreciated. Thanks
@9MilRidge

It shoots just like the 642 as far as kicking your finger out for reset but has a better felt trigger pull like the Ruger LCR.

WARNING! Many years ago, I purchased a Kimber K6s and it was one of those that ended up with a broken firing-pin. I returned it to Kimber and they replaced the pin. Recently I bought a Kimber K6xs and loved it until after 120 rounds of +p (and only dry-firing it using snap-caps) you guessed it, the firing-pin broke. Now, I was worried about using my original K6s with that pin Kimber replaced. I found a website that makes upgraded replacement firing-pins for the Kimber K6s and purchased a replacement pin and had it installed by a gunsmith. I now have that gun working fine and stopped worrying on the reliability factor. Because of the broken pin in the K6xs, I will be returning to purchase another pin (I will not be returning the gun to Kimber) for the K6xs. I am not the only person with a broken firing-pin on my new K6xs, there is another firing-pin break with a K6xs talked about at Buds Guns in the “community” section. I feel safer buying a new well-made pin and paying a gunsmith to put it in than trust Kimber and their firing-pins.
