That is not thermal paste, that is a thermal pad. it was making good contact you can see the indents from it being compressed :) There's too much clearance in there for a thermal paste to work properly that is why they use thermal pads. Same reason they use thermal pads on video card Ram. Looks like a 3mm thermal pad press down to about 2 mm.

You/everyone should press the bearings on the sliders, not hammer them on. My 2-cents 🙂 BTW, why didn't you remove the slider framework from the wheel as you kept recommending that people do??? Just curious.
@EUCWayOfLife
@EUCWayOfLife Жыл бұрын
That was my thought but the issue with the design is you can press the wheels on first then install because the screws are under the bearings. So like noted in my video it would be better to remove the entire frame then leave it on the wheel =\ No because I was already over 1/2 into the project, that why I was telling people that's what I would do If I took on the project again. Just makes more sense myewheel needs to redo their install video lol

This is just what I needed. I'm just about to install the 3D printed version, just because of cost. I'll go CNC later when funds allow. It's a bit scary how much effort you needed to to get that bolt out! Thanks for your efforts and comments. Again, just what I needed 👍

Sometimes thermalpaste gets hard on heat. If you remove older CPU's from mobo's this is pretty common. It doesn't lose all the conductivity, in appliances such as the wheel with very large surface to dissipate heat unlike CPU any paste should do and it won't matter much if it gets dry as long as there is no air between the parts. E. yes, that looks more like thermal pad's, but they shouldn't get rock hard either. Thank you for the video, I hear swapping the sliders is a good job for friday night and a barrel of beer.

I've been watching a number of these S22 videos because I find the topic interesting, I have some comments on that but first I want to disclose that I do own a Kingsong wheel, I have a overall decent opinion of them on their past history but that has been somewhat deflated after seeing the troubles with the S20/S22, I do not not own a S22, I own a V11 instead (as well as other wheels). My thought after watching a number of videos on this is that the stock black plastic(?) material being used as the slide is likely the overarching problem here. I suspect there are other materials that may have given better results. However since that is what comes with the wheel I think the next thing I would have done before a major modification is trialed different lubricants. I'm not a huge fan of graphite but I think that is what I would have tested first considering the use case because graphite doesn't collect contaminating materials and has a wide temperature operating range. The next comment is about this roller replacement idea. The roller wheel is going to always be inherently spinning in the opposite direction of the other side of the same roller wheel. IE whichever contact side is contacting the inner rail path causes the other side to be going the opposite direction of the rail movement. So in effect you still have a frame slide. However if the wheel is not compressed in the frame slide then this may not be a great issue but it does bring up questions of what exactly is happening during use.
@bahamut432
@bahamut432 Жыл бұрын
That's Incorrect, the wheels are placed with an offset between them, so only one side is touching the walls on the suspension channels.

Idk about that this day in age! S22 as a whole should be recalled hahaha only issue my new Begode wheels have is the displays intermittently work and the V2 t4 lights don't work if the display doesn't. WAY less issues than the s22 😱

Thank you! With everyone putting out the bearing sliders now I would hope Kingsong release the next batch with them IF they don't kill the wheel and make another since this wheel kinda headed for the trash before it even got started... As it sits now it's an amazingly well engineered wheel but they definitely cut corners in the wrong places which is sad.

@@EUCWayOfLife Yeah. I actually just got an s22 that was DOA basically. Lol. You really think they'd just scrap it and start over? That would suck for existing S22 owners. And also for the S22 since it seems like it's just now becoming what it always should've been.
@EUCWayOfLife
@EUCWayOfLife Жыл бұрын
@@Mpower31 I don't think they'll scrap it but I think they are revamping it so much that it won't necessarily be the same wheel and the amount of changes won't easily be available for the old version so the old ones will be "obsolete" and no one will want them on the used market because 1 the issues and 2 they will lack the proper things to be a good wheel. Another reason the dealers are all selling their stock at basically cost right now... Idk about you but I smell a new wheel coming, why else would you be clearing inventory when it's not even close to black Friday yet?

@@freeforester1717 That's the best question I've seen and not something I'd thought of, but what happens if one of the bearings or wheels fails or needs to be replaced due to wear, how are you going to get it back off of the peg/stud it was hammered onto? I'd rather try the 3D printed one first, especially since I'm not doing jumps.

Just tested out the wheel coming from an s18 and I loved the s18 but hated the s22 due to stiffness, felt really hard to turn and to go fast as well as just unstable. Would you recommend I do the sliders to see if it’ll fix my riding experience or just get rid of it and get something else?

@@kageyami11 have both i. warming up to s22 now. good for faster, longer, muddier trips. stock sliders aren't great so tried the cnc today and the difference is night and day. s22 with stock suspension is only good for bigger jumps, less so for a comfortable ride. i'll take the v11 pogo stick over the stock s22. in fact i think the v11 was the most comfortable suspension to me. now it's the cnc with that spring in s22. stock s22 suspension is hard to tell if it's there at all.

I am surprised the stupid slides are not doweled in place!!! What keeps it perfectly straight and centered??? The 'press fit' is too tight, for the rollers, hammering is not the best way, might better use a press to put on rollers...3d print should only be a proto type to make cnc version... Kingsong was really STUPID changing the rod & bushing of s18 to t-slot guides of s22, personally I would fire the ks designer...
