19:23 I actually have found myself really enjoying the hawk bill shape of knives for their utility at the job site. They work remarkably well for stripping wire, cutting straps, ect.. honestly one of my favorite blade shapes. When I need to do back cuts, the blade feels so natural to hold in a reverse grip which I feel is much more controllable and safe.

The Medford is depicting tank tracks. The M-48 was a U.S. battle tank made in the 1950’s. It’s actual designation is M-48 Patton. Also, look at the other side of the blade, it has 4 stars on it. Patton was a 4 star general.🇺🇸
@superrad16592 жыл бұрын
👆 *THIS* 👆 He left out one of the coolest things about the knife, all the little easter-eggs and nods of respect incorperated into the design. Also pretty certain Gen. Patton's grandson was involved in this coming to be, and that pieces of M-48 belt-tracks are melted down into the construction.

Medford M-48 is a tribute to 4 star General Patton! There are 4 stars on the blade as well as tank tracks on the handle. It runs on bearings, not washers and has what Greg Medford calls the Magnus tip grind. Several other nods to Patton such as his dog on the pocket clip. Such an amazing knife. Rivals the Sebenza in my opinion.

The Bear & Son DOES lock both in AND out. I bought one because they are a hoot. It's surprisingly more useful than I ever expected it to be. I bought it mostly for novelty, but it's a really great, solid, tiny knife, and it won't be my last. It's like a really expensive Victorinox classic SD for me. I want one in each car, one permanently in my pocket, one on the nightstand, one in the medicine cabinet... How much is convenience and entertainment worth? I guess that's for each of us to decide for ourselves. 🤷🏻♂️😆😆😆

If you're thinking about the K390 Delica, let me assure you what a GREAT bargain it is. I have the K390 Endura, and it holds on to an edge longer than anything I've ever used, which includes a Sebenza, about 20 Busses, numerous Randalls, and even an M4 limited edition Spyderco Smock. Yes, the K390 holds an edge better than M4 does. I've never had a Maxamet blade (I'm considering a Manix 2 or a Para 2) so I can't make that comparison, but it's crazy sharp for a LONG time.

I am curious as to where on the knife manufacturers measure the "blade length"... Is it from the tip to the back of the cutting edge or is it from the tip to the very beginning of the scales or is it from the tip to the very end of the blade that is hidden inside the handle scales... CORRECTION, DCA: The Spyderco Minari comes with BD1N steel, not BD-1. I thought it was important enough to make a note. The slightly higher alloying elements and a tiny bit of nitrogen makes a definable difference. While BD1N is not a powder metallurgy steel, it is vacuum melted, this means the steel should be very pure and clean from impurities.

I started to feel this way sometimes too, but I realized it really had more to do with my taste in knives changing over time. I've found that it wasn't Knife Center or any other retailer specifically, but for several reasons. The market flood of Chinese knives. Manufacturers are making knives smaller and moving to lesser steels. This is probably due to inflation, but it transfers to the customer. One thing that keeps me interested is the flood of custom makers popping up when I search Google and KZbin. The makers are happy to make you something unique and that are part of the process. Just a thought.
