Why aren’t you reporting the blade hardness in the specs? Knifecenter was the place to go for that information not even a year ago but you stopped doing this for some reason!
@StereoTyp05 ай бұрын
Probably because some manufacturers were inaccurately reporting the hardness of their steel. Rather than testing every blade, some of the blades, or some other testing methodology, all of which is costly, I think they're letting the manufacturers advertise hardness on their own websites. That's my speculation, at least.
@michaelinsc97245 ай бұрын
Agree 100%! This is absolutely essential information.
@iamtoast33975 ай бұрын
I really wish it was standard to include this, but in fairness it's down to manufacturers. KC couldn't reasonably have every line they carry tested independently, plus testing marks the blade (and potentially voids the warranty), so they'd likely have to sell the test sample at a discount. I would also like to see thickness immediately behind the edge given as a standard spec, though, and they could accomplish that non-destructively with a set of calipers.
@ProfessionalNoodler5 ай бұрын
Because they are a retailer and not a review channel. The knives on the table are company stock, if they start scratching them up with RHC picks, then they can't sell them as new products. When they would report it, it was most likely the information provided by the company (which as others have implied, have often been proven false by knife reviewers).
@CuttingBoardRx5 ай бұрын
@@ProfessionalNoodler they used to have the data on every knife except the ones that didn’t provide the numbers. It matters, or should matter, to anyone who is paying more than 50 bucks for a knife. You don’t buy a truck because it has an engine, you buy it because it has a 6 L V8…

I love Benchmade's designs, heck their Axis lock is still my favorite knife lock ever made. But they need to come off those crazy prices, they are all over the place, most of the time they are $50 more expensive than they should be, then sometimes they are right on the mark, like with their new Magnacut lineup. Cruwear is great but by no means does that or the carbon fiber handles make it worth $450 to me for a 4 in bushcrafter. And Carbon fiber is not that expensive anymore anyway, it's not like it's the nicer marbled or Phat carbon stuff. That knife should be $250 max. Even if it was Magnacut it should still be around $250 to be competitive with even other USA made Magnacut knives. Really don't get them, they are more about their name now than anything. Just like ZT. I'll take a Esee or a Buck all day over them at this point. Sad to see them at these exorbitant prices.
@jonesyxxiv5 ай бұрын
I don’t understand why people love the axis lock so much. They just have such poor long term durability. Whenever I carry a knife with an axis lock I have to constantly worry my knife will just break though totally normal operation. That sucks imo.
@The1stDuhZeez5 ай бұрын
@@jonesyxxiv You must have used cheap imitation Axis lock types. I have never had one fail and I have used them for near 20 years. I have seen that some Benchmade knives have issues with their axis locks though, DBK did a test on the Adamas folder and it failed but BM fixed that problem and the other Axis lock BM knife they tested was rock solid and even passed all their insane testing. I'd rather it over a frame lock or liner lock any day of the week. I absolutely HATE liner locks.
@jonesyxxiv5 ай бұрын
@@The1stDuhZeez Benchmade axis locks are notorious for failing. Omega springs snap all the time. There is no way you’ve been in the knife community for any amount of time without hearing about omega springs being unreliable. My bugout’s omega springs snapped from just closing the knife.
@The1stDuhZeez5 ай бұрын
@@jonesyxxiv As I said "I" have never had one fail on me. I also don't, and would never own a Bugout or a Griptillian. They are cheaply made and it shows. I never had one and never will, now their other knives that are properly made that I own, and have used for years have never failed me.
@jonesyxxiv5 ай бұрын
@@The1stDuhZeez Well I guess you are one of the lucky few, but your personal anecdote doesn’t override the data.
