@@ChristianGreico yeah man I definitely agree with what your saying. Honestly not trying to be negative because I really hope your right. I absolutely loved that place, for a number of reasons. All around amazing fishery. I hope im wrong. Nothing would make me happier than to revisit a year from now and have another day like the one I just had. what’s the average water depth?
@ChristianGreico4 жыл бұрын
Seemed to be about 4’
@howabouthetruth21574 жыл бұрын
If you get in the bottom enhancement areas totaling 2,500 acres ( 2,000 acres in one area and 500 acres in another), the depth is all over the place, from 4' to 15'. We're talking holes, ditches, ledges, humps, stepped shelves, etc. Best bottom enhancement ever done on any lake, barr none. Research it. I've fished it myself already. Your down scan will go crazy seeing it all, no joke.

Correction: They didn't stock the lake with 1 million bass until around 2014, which is 6 yrs ago. They hadn't even begun the entire project 10 yrs ago. But here in east/central Florida, these man-made impoundments have the fastest growth rates for largemouth bass in recorded history: 2.5 lbs PER YEAR! Florida largemouth bass grow faster & bigger, but their average lifespan is only around 8 years. So this lake already has plenty of double digit fish swimming around. ( There were much smaller water bodies, such as a few ponds, ditches & canals already on the site, that had pre-existing largemouth, and the biggest "native bass" the FWC was able to catch using electro-shocking methods BEFORE they stocked 1 million fingerlings was 7 lbs. That doesn't mean there weren't any bigger fish than that though. ) Oh, I almost forgot: In the past couple years, the FWC decided to shock up some big "breeder" bass from the Stick Marsh/Farm 13 lake right next door, to donate/stock in this new lake. I don't know how many, but it had to be quite a few, or why else would they have even bothered. ( Which is also an indicator for how great the numbers & size of trophy bass STILL are in the Stick Marsh/Farm 13. BOTH places are some of the best trophy bass fishing in the world, but the new lake is better, as new lakes usually are down here. As a long-time bass angler here in south Brevard county since 1969, I truly believe that this new lake will take a lot of the fishing pressure off of the Stick Marsh/Farm 13, which should mean better fishing opportunities there as well. I just caught an 8 lb'er this past July 4th in Farm 13. Don't forget, we also have the fairly new Thomas Lawton/3 Forks conservation area for bass fishing too, only about 10 miles to the north. I LOVE living here in south Brevard county! So far, just from the Stick Marsh/Farm 13, I have four 12 lb'ers under my belt, losing several much larger, thirteen weighing 10 lbs, eleven 9's, and I literally can't count the 6 to 8 lb'ers I've caught here over the years. I sure hope not too many people see my comment, LOL. )

Thanks for the information! There’s definitely an abundance of great fishing in the area!
@howabouthetruth21574 жыл бұрын
@@ChristianGreico You're very welcome! And for anyone reading this, don't forget: The maximum speed limit is 25 mph throughout the entire lake. NO AIR BOATS ALLOWED. Night fishing is prohibited. The lake is open to fishing beginning 1 hour before sunrise. NO PARKING anywhere except for designated parking spaces, all others will be towed, even if parked out on the side of the dirt road leading in. If the place is full, you can drive to the Stick Marsh & fish right next door. The FWC says they will be enforcing these rules, so.......

nice information. plan on heading down to Florida in January and February Is this a good time to fish this lake?
@howabouthetruth2157 Жыл бұрын
@@joepotaczek Absolutely. The best trophy bass fishing in any of our local waters is anywhere between late November through April. That puts January & February smack dab in the middle of the prime months. VERY IMPORTANT: Keep a close eye on approaching cold fronts moving down here into our area, and try to time your fishing trip accordingly. Reason: The several days following a cold front moving through really shuts the fishing down for several days. STABLE, MILD WEATHER ( example: 2 solid weeks of pleasant weather with no cold fronts ) during our prime months usually produces the fishing trip of a lifetime. Stable weather present during the 3 days before, during, and after a full or new moon is even better.........I kid you not. 3 days of fishing during these prime times with stable weather conditions will just about guarantee a seasoned bass angler success that is nothing short of phenomenal. Expect 30 to 50 fish days with at least a dozen or more quality fish weighing 6 to 8 lbs, plus the excellent possibility of 2 ( or more ) bass weighing in the double digits. It's also worth mentioning that stable weather during these prime times assures clean, clear water. The fish can see your bait offerings from farther away. Jumbo live wild golden shiners is the bait of choice to assure the monster bass..........but lures can and often do produce giant bass here as well. I've done both, many times. Have a safe trip, operate your boat with diligence and caution due to a few water hazards such as tree stumps......enjoy, and best of luck to you Sir.
