Great reviews! I would still go for XRF. No doubt about it, this is hands down the best desktop laser in the industry right now-coming in like a wrecking ball! I’m glad the real product lives up to the hype. One other thing to add, which i am not 100% agree with: based on my conversation with onelaser and their affiliates, Thunder holds a decent amount of stake in this joint venture. Both companies are investing in manufacturing and R&D, where Thunder rely on this partnership to break into the consumer market. Meanwhile, OneLaser is helping innovate the engineering for all their entire product line. I seriously hope mine gets delivered on time. Don’t let me down, OneLaser!

Yep. The XRF is probably the better option for those with a bigger budget, but there's an absolute place for the glass tube options as well

Been following this new company since day one, and they’re honestly so cool. Feels like they’re about to shake up the entire industry. Just look at the comments-other interest groups are clearly panicking and trying to throw shade. It’s hilarious! 🤭 This desktop series is seriously impressive-they’ve really nailed it from all the reviews so far! That said, I’m even more hyped for the Hydra series! I’ve already got my “touchdown” ticket order in-any idea when the review of Hydra dual laser is dropping?

Very nice. Can you please explain what you meant by upgrading the air assist?

This laser has a standard air pump that pushes out a consistent flow of air. It’s not high flow air but it’s also not low. You can’t control it either. When you upgrade to a compressor driven air assist and you add a regulator with a water catch and/or a desiccant dryer, you can control the airflow into your laser. Very low flow of air is used on engravings and prevents overburn (which translates to less cleanup work). High flow air is used for cutting. It facilitates a cleaner cut and in some cases deeper. You also don’t have the over burning that is associated with these stock air pumps.

@@EdmondsWoodshop If Lightburn turns off the included valve that is used for the stock air assist, it sounds like the external pump would still be pumping out air, but the flow would be blocked, could that hurt the pump? It seems like Lightburn would electrically shut the stock air assist pump off. Maybe you can test this.

It will work with any rotary with a 4 pin aviation connector. The rotary from the P2 is not a 4 pin connector.

So is the cooling system closed loop with no loss of fluid or do you have to take the back off every time you need to add fluid ? Is the auto focus setup at factory or in LB ? and is the AF setup for cutting and engraving ? Thanks

The water/coolant should be replaced at least once a year as part of your maintenance plan. This means the rear cover will need to be taken off in order to do so, but you shouldn’t experience loss of fluids since it is a closed system. I chose to leave the bolts off my cover so I can slide it on and off as necessary. The autofocus was already set by the manufacturer. Whether you cut or engrave, your autofocus is normal set to the same focus (unless you choose to work in a defocused state), so the factory will it set for you.

@@EdmondsWoodshop Yea with the Polar I defocus 5mm so I would not want the same for cut/engrave unless this one would happen to engrave very good at that same height. Can auto focus be turned off on the machine ?
