It's simple rear facing is safer I remember as anew mum I turned my boy at one not knowing any better then a good friend of mine directed me to an excellent Australian FB group that taught me all the proper info for Australian carseats I'm in Australia obviously but I felt so bad once I'd learnt of my error just thinking what could have happened to my boy if we had been in an accident I've had two more children since my first born and I've managed to rear face my daughter till she was 2.5 and my one year old is still rear facing I'll be having bubby number four in March and he will be rear facing for as long as possible as well It's just safer I honestly think that midwives should be teaching first time mums and dads about rear facing before Thier baby's are even born so they can have the time to pick out a car seat they like ECT that meets the requirements not enough new parents know this information

My kid is over 2 years and still rides rear-facing (I'm from Portugal). I could care less what the law says, I do it because it's SAFER and will do continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Bjørn Engebretsen they explain in the video that because your going forward the momentum is going forward. (An object in motion stays in motion until acted upon by an outside force) When you break hard everything flys forward and nothing will stop until it hits something.

What about a rear end collision, it would be safe to face forward. Ive never hit anything head on, but i have had people run into the back of me. I think its more likly I'd get hit from the back because i can't control those people i can control myself,

It would still lunge your forward. Rear facing is always safer unless you’re somehow driving backwards.

virylixyus in the house -- it isn’t about what your child wants. It’s about what is safest for their spine. use toys to distract her. Maybe you need a cushier seat. The Nuna Rava is a rear and forward facing seat that is ultra comfy and works rear facing until a child is 50 pounds.
