OK, I have to say, the police chase with the get away car crashing through that suddenly appearing, randomly placed stack of scale cardboard boxes was the most late 70's/early 80's tv thing _ever._ Well done.

House prices tumbling - brilliant! Poll tax - genius touch! Love the 8*4 boards. Bend the bike wheels as if driven over or kicked. Need some broken paving slabs for people to trip over with some patches of tar filling in where broken slabs removed - especially where a heavy lorry or skip might have pressed down and broken the paving - this is so evocative! Of course, Thatcherite Britain included lots of old industrial units with the roofing removed so they didn't have to pay taxes on broken and bankrupt business buildings - some not renovated or redeveloped until the 2000s, before the 2008 crash. Fantastic opening.

Absolutely top drawer Richard, love how the street is coming together and this stage is where building a layout gets really fun because you can really go to town with the challenge of adding as many details as you can as it’s the things we all take for granted like the drain covers or lampposts, road signs etc that bring that urban feel to life. Fantastic modelling well done 👏
@traintastictrains36323 жыл бұрын
Absolutely spellbinding!! The amount of detail you put in astounds me every single time you upload a video! Sometimes I’m thinking “no, that scene looks finished, there’s nothing more you could possible add” but you add something more and it just tops it off even further!! A tip for the footpath leading to the canal: 2 bollards across the entrance of the path down to the canal might be a good idea, especially as it is a very car-sized footpath! Bachmann Scenecraft sell a selection of either metal or concrete-style ones available from Rails of Sheffield... just a suggestion because I know they’re definitely something you’d see in real life! Keep up the great work and stay safe!!

Great to see a new video and what a lot to see! 😎 Those shutters really look superb and are so utterly typical of the arches businesses I see every day when I drive into Fenchurch Street and the grubbiness of the two areas is spot on, just like the scrap yard. I love the car chase at the beginning too. It was like watching The Professionals round my nan’s on a Saturday night! 😅 Just one little thing: I was thinking that rather than the arrow thing, wouldn’t there more likely just be a give way ‘V’ shaped thing in the road? 🤔 Those roller doors look excellent too by the way. Really good to show a variation as of course each different business or occupant installs a different thing 🤷🏻♂️ Cheers mate, always look forward to your videos 🍻👍🍀

26 seconds of sheer - now to watch the rest of it! 0:50 "Somewhere nice for people to walk down to the canal", back in the day when you needed somewhere to leave your shopping trolley or old fridge - before canal-side loft-living became a thing? That paving is just uneven enough to be authentic, though many slabs would be broken in reality. And chewing gum stuck to it, fine spattering of black paint maybe? Great stuff Richard, just keeps getting better.

39:55 "Well that's looking lovely, you can hear the house prices just tumbling down all around this section." This is one reason why I love this channel (apart from the beautiful model railway and the craftmanship), Richard making subtle jokes like that, not to mension the funny intros. That intro 😆 I did the same pavement style at my north end, that was using the sms paving and a total length of around 1m and that drove me mad lol. Nice tip for some great loose scatter for areas around the edges of the walling, pavements etc.. find a gravel drive or carpark and pull back the stones, the dirt underneath makes a great scatter once dried, sifted and blended with woodland scenics fine turf burnt grass.

I always liked the town scene on the old layout and this one is going to be next level. Years ago I models a rolled up tarp with tissue paper but added PVA as I wanted it to set the shape. The tunnel and arches remind me if Leeds. Can remember the water running down the walls from the line above. The masking tape protecting the walls reminded me of buildings sheeted up when construction work was taking place. I busy, vibrant city in the late 80s/early 90s often showed evidence of regeneration and were constantly evolving.

Great video with some nice details added once again! Just thought with that wall and fence you added at the end, for an extra bit of detail you could take away some of the fence beams, or have some broken to show a bit of age. If possible also add some crumbling wall effects for age/weathering, although I'm guessing that could be a bit fiddly. The area is crying out for a fish and chip shop as well! :-D
