Brilliant new channel, so nice to see it in a logical format and easy to navigate. Worth every penny spent, the content is second to none.

Nigel, I just received your book with the needle threading on the front, and I love it. I also love your teachings on design, tradition and quality. But I was wondering why you never got into carving leather? Personally, I wouldn't mind learning how to, but with all the time it takes, I think I could get just as much satisfaction out of the doing the right stamping pattern. Thanks for all that you do for the craft.

Excellent news, Nigel. Vimeo has it's place but you're better off here, for sure. I look forward to learning from you. Bon voyage.

KZbin, Vimeo, etc have their uses, but as a teaching forum, they really fall short. Yeah, you can work around their limitations, but when you want to do it your own way, teach the way you know works, you've got to break new ground. That takes domain knowledge, technical skill, content and risk. There are tons of less expensive (even free) sources out there, but, in the end, you do get what you pay for. I've bought your design packs, subscribed in the past and even got your book (can you say "fan-boy"?) and I'll very likely be budgeting for this new platform once I've exhausted those previous purchases (let's be honest, way sooner than that). Good luck with your new endeavor and I look forward to continuing tuition.

Will you no longer add videos to Vimeo?

I just saw the notice on Vimeo: No new videos after the horseshoe bag, but access to the current videos will remain for some time.

When does the site go live? A Google search just shows the Vimeo account and this video on KZbin.

The price jump is 100% worth it, IMHO, to not deal with Vimeo as a phone user. Just to clarify, there is no 'grandfathering' this go-around due to this being a different platform, correct?
@ArmitageLeather2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nicholas, no, no Grandfather rights. I am currently working on making the mobile platform for the site better. Hope that helps.

I don't see any terms about subscription cancellation... how does it work? Can I cancel anytime if I'm not happy with this platform? Do you charge month to month, or the whole year right away like some do? I think some info about the payment process would be more than welcome.
@ArmitageLeather2 жыл бұрын
Then terms and conditions are quite clear and you are requested to read them before you sign up. The subscriptions are month by month, this is all clearly stated on the website, and yes, if you don't like it, you can leave at any point.
@bbrachman2 жыл бұрын
Can you change subscription at any time? Your initial 6 month offer is great but what if I decide I do not what the projects? Just curious. Have to switch over soon.
@ArmitageLeather2 жыл бұрын
Hello Bruce, you can unsubscribe at any point and choose a different level should you wish to do so. If you have difficulty with this, because the control of the subscriptions is now undertaken by Armitage Leather, I will be happy to assist if you wish to change.

Just reading through the comments here, if you use what you learn to sell one leather item a month, then it more than pays for itself. If you're a hobbyist who makes no money selling leather at all, then it's up to you how to budget your hobby, and every penny you spend on food or clothes or education is a penny less to spend on leather, so budget carefully. I imagine someone could subscribe for a few months to learn all there is in the videos and then cancel their subscription so they're not paying forever, but still have the knowledge to build on.

Looks great but unfortunately I can't afford the subscription. I've learnt a lot from your channel and really enjoyed the videos. Wish you well for the future 👍

Good to see that you’re growing, but the subscription cost for Vimeo was steep enough for a hobbiest. This cuts me out completely.

An old fashioned business model. In a world filled with free resources funded by advertising and dealer partnerships (of which you have) and promotion of products like books or actual in petson classes etc, this has very limited growth potential. The price needs to drop to make it really work. The same amount of effort goes into producing these tutorials no matter how many subscribers. In this modern world youre best off making simple short clips for instagram with longer videos for youtube. Set up a few extras on something like patreon for those keen to pay. Just going by the lack of interaction on this chanel compared to youtube leatherworking tutorial chanels is a perfect indication. The cost of tools and hardware and leather is something that also limits the amount of people who could afford whats being charged to access these tutorials. Again, so many people are learning fully from free content that the creators make a good income from. P.s. dont have family make posts in Facebook groups as if they are some random subscriber to your website either. Its just tacky.
