I love this fish and would love to get a male/female pair. I have been scared away by their high failure rate. She is awesome! I hope she thrives in your tank and I hope you provide a good amount of updates on how she is doing.

Thanks, I hope it survive too. I'll keep everyone informed as to how it goes.

I love my leopard wrass I purchased mine around 8 months ago and I thought it was going to die cause it would not eat anything but live food. I kept buying live coco pods and brine shrimp for about 1 1/2 months. I was starting to regret buying it then. Then one day while I was feeding frozen food to the other fish, it went strait for it. Now it's a pig it eats what ever I put in my tank even flakes and pellets. I also skipped quarantining it for the fear of losing it. I just took a big gamble that payed off. I have read that wrasses can't handle copper meds. Great videos love your channel.

Nice leopard wrasse I just picked up a leopard wrasse today as well that I had in qt at my lfs for a couple weeks l really like the little guy really nice patterns and colours on him mine is eating he all ready picking and eating in my tank with in hours was happy to see that he was eating right away in my tank
@MileHighReefers8 жыл бұрын
That is awesome, QT and eating at the LFS is the way to go. Congrats on your new fish
@jcreefs65438 жыл бұрын
+MileHighReefers thanks and congrats on your new addition and ya I know the manager at the lfs so we only qt them once I don't bring them home and qt them cause I feel there's no need to qt them twice I believe it stresses them out more cause then you have to move them to the main tank they will be kept in after we qt them that's a lot of moving around plus the trip to the lfs, I do have a 72 gallon tank just incase I have to remove one and treat them if needed

Very pretty! Never seen one with white like that. My vermiculite Leopard eats LRS, Omega one and Ocean Nutrition flake, NLS pellets and even Nori. Finding one who already eats is key. I didn't quarantine mine either. I have heard that worms can be a problem though.

Looks freaky but nice. Very much like a Reindeer Wrasse right?
@MileHighReefers8 жыл бұрын
I'm not real familiar with the reindeer wrasse. If it's the one i'm thinking of there not very reef safe. The leopard wrasse is completely reef safe.
@masacardenas8 жыл бұрын
Great looking fish. I wouldn't recommend freshwater dips though. If something like an "ich" cyst is in her gills, it won't come off from freshwater. Only free floating parasites will die from freshwater. Good luck!
@MileHighReefers8 жыл бұрын
We did the dip more for flukes. I agree a fresh water dip is pretty ineffective with ich.
@adamnorvell8 жыл бұрын
what an amazing looking fish! Im no expert, but she seemed to have white spots on her tail fin. Are these ick, or are they nothing to worry about? I see this on the fish at my lfs frequently but i always thought it was a parasite so i stayed away.
@MileHighReefers8 жыл бұрын
I didn't see it on the fish when I was looking at it, But I see what your seeing in the video. Generally your right something like that can be a parasite. The fins are actually the easiest place to spot ich. Since I didn't see it on the fish during the initial examination i'm guessing it's part of the fishes patterning. I'm going to double check it when the lights come on to be sure. Great observation.

Leopard wrasse are easy once they are eating just so long as they don't have worms. At the store I work at we get them shipped to us in sand and we have had a 100x better mortality rate. Starvation is really the only thing you have to worry about I have never seen one with external parasites. Most likely due to there thick slime coat.

I have never seen one of these before. Would a wrasse be a good decision for a Tang dominant tank? Are they aggressive? I have no experience with any Wrasse, but have seen a couple that looked really neat.
@MileHighReefers8 жыл бұрын
For the most part tangs and reef safe wrasses leave each other alone. I wouldn't recommend a leopard wrasse for a new hobbyist. There are so many beautiful easy to take care of wrasses available. In my 210 I keep an Xmas wrasse with 8 tangs.
@goxcpre8 жыл бұрын
Yeah these guys can be very passive so aggressive fish don't mix well with them.
@robertscott6678 жыл бұрын
Scott,I've got a deep sand bed with a heavy SPS reef. In the past with my fish only tank I had a leopard wrasse along with a dragon wrasse and loved how they would bury themselves. I'm hesitant to get a wrasse that would disturb the deep sand bed...what are your thoughts?
@MileHighReefers8 жыл бұрын
I really don't think its a big problem. My tank doesn't have a deep sand bed, but my Xmas wrasse burrows in every night without causing a problem with the sand bed.
