I'm over here (in Russia) on a spouse visa. My 5 year old son has Russian citizenship, and he doesn't speak Russian (although he's quickly learning, in the playground). I want to apply for citizenship, but I'm terrified of the language requirement - I've tried to learn Russian several times, it's sooooooooo difficult.

In order to serve in the Russian military you need to speak Russian

It does, but again the strange way, not like Israel, or Germany for example. Instead as of 11th of June any Ukrainian national can apply for Russian passport straight away - nothing against Ukrainians but they are the most welcomed right now from the point of view of immigration laws

One of the options to obtain Russian citizenship for yourself and their family members is to enter into a contract as part of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation or other military formations of the country. Russian President Vladimir Putin has allowed foreigners who serve under contract in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation or other military formations of the country to receive Russian citizenship. Together with them, members of their families will be able to apply for citizenship, as follows from the decree of the head of state, published on the official portal of legal information. “To establish that foreign citizens who entered into a contract for military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation or armed formations during the period of a special military operation or who are serving during a special military operation have the right to apply for citizenship of the Russian Federation service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation or armed formations,” the document specifies. The President also noted in the decree that foreigners who, during a special operation, were dismissed from military service in the Russian Army for health reasons, upon reaching the age limit, upon expiration of the contract, and also “in connection with with the end of martial law."

Regarding the higher specialties on this list, will the individual need to be certified in Russia first before they can begin work or will their qualifications from the origin country suffice? For example will an engineer or doctor from US who is licensed and certified in the US first need to go through Russian certification before starting work or will there be a grace period of time to learn the Russian language and study for the Russian certification exam? I diasgree with you that eliminating the employment ground for Russian citizenship in the new draft law is BAD. It is good because economic migrants are notorious for creating cultural diasporas in the countries they immigrate for economic reasons. Learn from the the disasters that is happening in the western countries. These people will not assimilate. They will form their little nations inside your country. Employment can not be the ground for citizenship. Dubai is a good example. You can work in Dubai and live in Dubai as long as you are employed but you can't be a citizen just because you are employed. The western world is overburdened by expensive social welfare programs provided to a burgeoning immigrant population. Dubai avoids that and so should Russia. Citizenship should be an option only to those who can prove that they love Russia and intend to live their lives as Russians, assimilating Russia's language, culture and way of life . I am Filipino Chinese , 65 and I have loved Russia all my life. I regret not making the leap to immigrate to Russia. The new citizenship draft law is good. Dont repeat the mistakes of western countries. Russia is the last bastion of freedom and proper cultural sensibility.

Look up a vlog series 'Sam's Russian Adventure.' He's a Brit in Russia, and he's always giving out useful info. In fact, he is self-employed . . . runs a restaurant I think. As for agriculture for you, look up his old vids--I'm sure he's already done a vid. And he releases a vid or two per week, so it's all up to date.

You should seek out Russian firms that “ do your thing” as they could well be recruiting . I noticed from searches on the net that Russians really only speak Russian and this it seems is the biggest problem in trying to go and live there,…….All the best to you 🇷🇺😉

Brother 😂 this is not a candy shop where you go and buy candy (citizenship). Think practically. If you have multi million dollar yes you can citizenship easily by creating minimum 40 people job for 6 year and donation around 1-3 million dollar on government funds . After 7-8 year you get citizenship . Bytheway , i am not racist . I love every one. But black people have a hard time in Russia . Forgot everything own motherland country is always best .

Not really, because for extraordinary ability (let's call them like that) there is special process skipping all the formal steps - President can make a decision to grand citizenship to such people
