I have a Shitzu/Maltese mix. A Malshi as they call it. She resembles more shitzu than anything, but her fur seems to be softer and fluffier than a normal shitzu. I also have 3 huskies, and 2 toy poodles. Your videos have helped me more than I can even put into words! Thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge and expertise!! 💜💕🤩. I am also currently saving up to go to the Paragon online school. Love the fact that you are a PA girl!! Lol. I was born and raised there in a small town, and even though I now live in WV, I’m always a PA girl at heart. Tis in my blood! 😂

I've watched this video b4, but i wanted to thank you for the tips you offer. Such as how to get your dog to stand, the tip to help them be confident by elevating the head & so many more. I'm not a groomer, but I do take my dog to my groomer e:ery 4 wks, & in between grooms, I brush, comb, tweak w/ scissors where or if needed, & bathe him once every 7 to 10 days. Thanks again for all your help!

I really like the way her face turned out. I might like the ears a bit shorter. But looks btyfl! I've seen some Shuh Tzu cuts rounded out under the jawbone ear to ear. Do you prefer the nose being guide & not lower? If so why? Your videos are great!

Thank you Amy! I can see the soaping of the face OK, but once I start rinsing, ( I reduce the water jet) how do I hold it in order 1. not to put water in his nose 2. to make him stop turning his head all directions...when he really can get water in his nise. lt's tricky when there is no muzzle to hold on, lol

Always tilt the head down with your hand covering the top of their head. When I have to rinse the eyes and down the face, I squeeze their nose shut for only a second and then rinse another area then repeat until the face is rinsed. Only squeeze the nose shut every now and then to keep water from going in the nose. It takes practice and you really have to be very aware of how they are feeling about the procedure. Must pay attention to the dog and take your time.

Love the video! Question: why did you start with a 30 blade with the snap-on comb, and change to a 10 blade??? I only have a 10 blade that came with my wahl km 10, I think I remember something about the blade and snap-on combs - that the blade size didn’t matter when using a comb? Could you confirm? Thanks 😊

You can use a 10, 15, or 30 blade under the snap on combs. She put the 10 on because, you only use a 10 for Sanitary areas. Ear venting is part of the Sanitary trim.

Sometimes certain breed standards get lost in a blood line. He could still be a purebred but it really doesn't matter...he is perfect anyway :)

I have a Cocker Spaniel/ Shih Tzu mix and he pretty much looks like a large Tzu with a stubby tail. It's only about 5" long. This dog sits so nicely for you! Gizmo is pretty good until I get to his legs especially his front legs. He freaks out as soon and I hold his paw and try to use the trimmer on them, tugging with all he's worth, crying and even nipping. I don't know how groomers I've brought him to manage to do it.He also hates having the trimmer used near his face. No way I could ever risk getting close to his eyes! I can use scissors on his feet and face very carefully and he seems to not fidget much with that. Is there a technique to conquer this behavior? I groomed him today and overall he looks good and I really like how you've shown using the # 10 blade in the "sanitary areas". I was able to carefully get him really cleaned up. Thank you for these videos, they are so helpful!

My mix, Bella, looks very much like this little girl. I cannot take her to a groomer. When she was about a year old, i took her to a new groomer....long story short, the lady cut her eye ball with her scissors. She did not tell me...and it was a Saturday, so no Vet till Monday. I only knew she was injured, because she kept blinking and herveyevwas watering. After a $400 treatment, and she was ok. I took her to a groomer in a pet store, they called me within an hour and told me they could not groom her she was fighting so hard and was so terrified, they thought she was going to break a leg trying to grt away. My vet gave me Xanax for her, and come to find out no groomer will tske her if she is in anyway sedated. So we try tondo it ourselves, she is beautiful, but of course neighborhood dogs laugh at her cuz "mom cuts your hair funny"....i wish we could find someone like you....thanks for the info, i will be trying your style.

I just found your channel while doing a grooming search! I have a Pomeranian Shitzu mix. He looks more like a Pom than the other. But his hair is long and silky. I hated the last groom he got so I’ve decided to try myself but can’t find anyone who has groomed one like him. He’s fluffy but his hair is so long and smooth. Definitely not the fuzzy Pom hair. 😂 Would you suggest just evening up the long hairs? (The spriggy stuff that sticks out) His tail hair is extremely long and I’m just going to have to shorten that right up I know. I’m terrified I’ll mess up his coat but I don’t trust the groomer again. I paid too much and they did extremely little. Any tips would be appreciated!

Cavoodles seem to be the go-to breed in my area. I've got a range from 14wks to 4 years. When I get past the brush and wash stage, all I can see is Cav.. I can't see anything else and I fear that all my doggies come out looking like Cavs! I've tried very hard to keep big brows and mustaches on the boys, but the girls are all ending up with dainty little round heads.. Is this just the truth of cavoodles, or do I have to try harder to deny their heritage? Then what are they 'supposed' to look like?

Any doodle is a mixed breed and not the same from one to the other. I have no issues working with them and their trim will vary depending on their coat type. I thing is standard for a mixed breed dog. I go with what they have and resemble

Start bathing and brushing right away! Gets them use to the grooming process. They should start going to the groomers at 12 weeks old.
