New M-pox warning from CDC

The CDC says there is a nationwide spike in M-pox cases. New data shows the number of reported infections is almost double what they were at this time last year.

The monkeys sued for defamation!🤣 Actually scientifically it shouldn't be called monkey pox because the virus has nothing in particular to do with monkeys. They are not the natural reservoir or regular victims of the virus. It's just that it was first noticed in a colony of research monkeys decades ago.

Yes. The vaccine used for m-pox is in fact a smallpox vaccine.

Smallpox vaccine is better than nothing. There is some overlap in protection, the main problem is that in the US most smallpox vaccinations were done like 40+ years ago. A more recent inoculation would be better. If you ask around local clinics, mpox vaccine might be available. I got it done a year ago.

Probably not! Mpox isn't particularly airborne so it's a lot harder for the virus to spread compared to other vaccine-preventable viruses like covid, measles, and chickenpox. While vaccination is an important tool to suppressing the spread of mpox and universal vaccination would effectively stop it, it's unfeasible and prohibitively expensive (not to mention incredibly unpopular), vaccinating on such a scale would be overkill for a virus that just does not spread the way something like the flu does. If you're somebody who is high risk for it, it's wise, though not mandatory, to get vaccinated, but if you're not high risk, you really don't need to worry about (or about needing to get vaccinated for it).

Interesting about this news is that the presenter made it by not correlating this to more homosexuals out there who practice multiple unprotected sex. In Urban cities of Chicago, I've heard about being in orgy parties and those who are enjoying multiple drug use. I am not saying that I am against LGBTQ+ but the activity as it is for some of them is putting themselves at risk.

It can be transmitted by non-sexual skin contact as well, like hugging. The problem is that if it’s promoted as being “gay sex disease” then people who aren’t at risk of catching it that way might not be aware of risks and precautions.
