Lisa Eldridge dedicated an entire video on her channel, explaining how to prime before applying her foundation depending in your skin type.
@TonyaSivell2 жыл бұрын
Yes! I had Lisa colour match and apply this foundation to me. Some takeaways: prep your skin properly, use small amounts of foundation with a flat brush using tapping and small sweeping motions. Lisa’s new makeup brush for foundation is really nice. Lisa mentioned in a video she’s looking at stocking her products in Canada to omit the expensive import fees for customers.

@@TonyaSivell That would be amazing! I literally cry every time the duties are asked for at customs. The conversion is a lot already! Update on charges, as of this morning I paid 10 dollars more for taxes, processing fees, levies blah blah -10 dollars more than 2 weeks ago , it was $38 & change for 3 little pencils! *My head actually exploded*

Yeah if you notice Alana just plops it on without looking into the proper primers and skin prep for this foundation. She doesn’t give it a chance by respecting its properties.. and from the start she’s already bashing it because of the price. Without even trying it first. I mean there are plenty if pricey foundations out there, this isn’t the first!

I watched Lisa Eldridge’s video about the foundation and she had great ideas, tips, and tricks as always. One that might have helped you is using your finger to tap the foundation in spots where you see texture.

I’m so surprised the foundation didn’t work for you!!! When I say it’s the best foundation I’ve ever tried it’s no exaggeration - the shade match is so unbelievably perfect I literally can’t see it! And yeah I have to prep my skin a bit more than usual but that’s no hardship when I think of the thouuuusands I’ve spent on foundations with hideous formulas and the worst shades!!! I’ve basically thrown out every single foundation I’ve ever owned (except Mac face and body which, by the way, mixes so nicely with Lisa’s) I feel like I’ve completed life now, my foundation quest is fiiiiinally over!!! I would highly recommend getting some testers though cause I’m pretty light-skinned olive and yet I’m shade 9!!! Anyway, I feel so strongly about it and I just needed to say all of this in case you were put-off 😊

I love LE; her makeup brand, her artistry, it’s flawless. I was pumped for the foundation, watched her video on it, read the newsletter, everything I could my hands on. It just doesn’t work for me as a dry skin person. I already have a lot of steps in my skincare because I have dry skin, I’m not going to add another 5 million steps just to get a foundation to *maybe* work for me when there’s so many other foundations out there. I’m happy for those that it works for, but it’s a pass for me.

The total cost of this foundation for Canadians is painful. I'm half Inuit half Caucasian and #6 is THE ONLY foundation shade that perfectly matches my skin, to the point that it's even undetectable outside in full sun. I'm 44 and have never found a shade like this, so having to pay the price+ duties is truly horrendous...but when you've spent over 30 years buying foundation that never matched, I have thousands of dollars sunk in to a foundation graveyard, what can I do? 😔

Lisa's foundation is literally a game changer. It is not for someone who likes to put a mask of foundation on their face. She says it herself that she likes to apply in thin layers. Beauty blender isnt recommended for this foundation. It works best with fingers or a flat foundation brush. I attended her skin seminar yesterday at her pop up studio and it was wealth of knowledge about the way she does makeup and her products. Lisa develops products the way she likes to use them. So in order for people to like her products, one must also like the way Lisa applies make up. Otherwise market is full of different brands to pileup your face with products. Lisa is a celebrity makeup artist . She is not a youtube makeup guru or insta influencer. She has developed a primer and a mist as well which will be launched in January I guess. I tried the lab samples , and they are great.

Well I also watched her videos and have all her other products but its an easy pass for me. Very very drying and hard to apply. Hmn. I whilst I don't think it's wrong to highlight the duties, you still have to remember that its a small brand on a different continent, it has no influence over import duties and Canadian tax. Also, I have very dry skin. Before any foundation, skin prep is everything. I use the embryolisse as a primer and its a stunning foundation, it doesn't go into creases 8 hours after application. Any foundation will cling to dry bits of skin...

Try ditching the brush and using your fingers and a sponge, I think you'll get a much better result. Also, in my experience with the foundation sample cards, you might just be using a shade that is too light for you! Because it blends so beautifully into the skin a lot of shades would seem like they are working, but the foundation looks kinda chalky and very textured. Once I tried a darker, correct shade it looked so much better. I truly doubt you are really shade 5 because that is my shade and I am WAY fairer than you. Maybe contact her team and see if they have a solution for you

I’m lucky that i live in London. So i went to the LE pop up store. The experience was lovely. The SA made sure i hade the right shade, 10, and id say l’m similar colouring to Lan, she did a full face, went outside in daylight to make sure i was happy with the colour, so a lot of effort spent with consumers. I’m mature, some pores and line but my skin is normal. I tried this the Lisa way from her video, i used Bobbi brown enriched face base and then the foundation. One light layer evened out everything. It set and didn’t need powder, but after a couple of hours it was so shiny. I tried Dior backstage primer today and it looks a bit better, but still a shine after 3-4 hours. It looks great for a couple of hours, so it would be good for photos or a special occasion and it looks just like you but better and so skin like. I love LE but i hate to say i have nicer foundations in my collection. I have the Dior natural nude, and that’s fabulous for an oldie. Even bite beauty change maker is lovely. I will persevere and try other primers with it. Your finished look was beautiful, but should you have to use a gallon of spray to get it took decent at that price.

I think no foundation can be truly universal for all skin types. Lisa’s foundation didn’t work for me either. I’m pretty normal/slightly dry and I found it thick and showed every pore. I tried it over multiple different serums, moisturizers, and sunscreens. I also think there are so many good foundations out there, no foundation should be ‘work’ to make it look good. I didn't hear you mention it, but I also noticed that it seemed like your freckles were showing through after you applied cream bronzer and blush. Did you feel like the foundation/coverage disappeared after applying those products, or was I just imagining it? I definitely noticed a loss of coverage when I applied my cheek products over the unset foundation. I had less of an issue after powdering, but it still felt super dry and broke up around my driest areas (nose, chin, mouth) after only 4 or so hours of wear.
