This project is so cool, I wanted to do it myself. At first I was discouraged by the cost of all the equipment, but I actually found a way to save some money by purchasing an old F-16 from Israel, then just cannibalizing parts as needed 👍🏻

Ciao, ottimo lavoro e risultato invidiabile.

Nice one! I’ve been thinking about the exact same process. I do have some questions for you though: 1) what make/model of the fibre laser do you use? Normally they’re quite expensive. More expensive than co2 lasers 2) how much does PCBWay charge for an aluminium backplate on average ? 3) have you test fitted the backplate on the consoles? The backplates are larger than the acrylic plates (in line with dzus panel sizing), but I believe the consoles leave no tolerances.
@The_ViperProject2 ай бұрын
@@baronvonrichthofen2021 thanks man. 1) basic 1 from em-smart. Yes they’re pricy 2) best if you ask them directly for the most accurate estimate 3) yes and they fit perfectly. Plastic or aluminium the backplate have the same dimensions, only different thickness (2.0mm vs 1.5mm)
@baronvonrichthofen20212 ай бұрын
@@The_ViperProject thanks, appreciate the response. I’m developing the side console at the moment, in imperial, because that’s how dzus works. Currently I have no tolerance between backplates, which will undoubtedly become a problem. Luckily I can still adjust the overall size for the acrylic plates, but if I order from PCBWay, I do worry a bit about tolerances (though I guess I could always sand the edges if necessary). By the way, is there a reason why you choose to use aluminium backplates rather than use PCBs as backplates? Also, can you show how you currently connect pcb to panel?

This looks like a great solution. I need to find a COB LED strip in 3.3v for my panel lighting. Do you know of any sources that have 3.3v? Mostly I am seeing 12v or 24v when searching for this type of lighting.

How do you add the switch covers or knobs to the switches so they are fixed or glued on. But you can still remove them so you can remove the switches from the panel?
@MozTS2 ай бұрын
You can use a die to put threads on them
@The_ViperProject2 ай бұрын
@@RobertBerrier the switch caps are press fit and I used a bit of “blutack” to secure them, however they fit through holes so no need to remove them. The knobs on the pots are also press fit and there’s a hole for a set screw, they can be pulled off if I need to take the panel apart
