New Manila Bay 2017

Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has approved another multi-billion-peso reclamation project on the city’s section of Manila Bay, the third to get the green light since the former President became the city’s chief executive in 2013.
City Hall said the latest project would develop a 407.42-hectare mixed-use commercial and tourism center, as envisioned in a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed on Monday with the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) and UAA Kinming Development Corp.

hope the pasig river commission will put up a filtration system at the water supply side of pasig maybe at the shallow portio . can be a teflon filter panel or can be a panel of sand filter that can easily be removed or replaced or a permanent provided with backwash water for cleaning purposes. the sand panel can also be replaced. this will remove impurities. before the filters a trap needed to collect the floating water lilies & other materials. periodic removal of materials needed. a clear water will be observe flowing to manila bay..this is only a suggestions.

I really want to see a wealthy Philippines! Enough squatters, dirty streets, old and dirty buildings, old and dilapidated apartments, tangled web of electrical wires, junk jeepneys and busses. I saw hints of progress when I last visited in 2014. Makati was just booming with new construction, and the area looks so high-end! Outside of Makati, there are still a lot of impoverished areas. Pasig River needs to breathe life again. Fort Santiago is neglected, which was sad.

Not only would it damage marine ecosystem even more, it would only benefit to those who are still typically well-off. Why couldn't main Manila get fixed up first? You see, Manila's people really lack foresight and common sense. I'm seeing more future in Davao because when they pitch projects, they are actually about sustainability AND for the benefit of general public *first*, not for these filthy elites' play pens. So when are you going to rid of slums bit by bit over there? You know in Singapore, they've actually done something about this before coming down to building their resort Marina Bay right? It's not crab mentality people are doing. They are just concerned about leaders' sets of priorities not matching out for average people who are mostly low income earners or who are barely eeking out a living on the streets. In Australia, government does something about social welfare and actually give subsidy for unemployed or those who are deprived of economic advantages. Healthcare is fairly free for all. So who really benefits these pitch projects in Manila? The privilege few only?

It seems people who are adverse to manila development are people not from manila. you don't like it, then go to davao and live there. This project will bring atleast 2 to 3 decades worth of jobs as dredging, construction, and utility placements will be needed. Then you would need people to host and commandeer the facilities, which will bring more jobs. a project like this will be a great step towards a better, more modern, manila.

No, Philippines would end up more chaotic. I don't doubt the good in our president's intentions but even he isn't perfect and he most likely needs help in running an entire country.

Christian Cornia: I live here in the Philippines in Central Luzon, the only thing that will happen here in the future is it will be a bigger garbage tip and more corrupt than it is now! And if Christ is coming here ( which I doubt) Im sure he will be very upset to see how you Filipinos have destroyed what he created for you , by polluting everything, destroying natural resources and throwing you rubbish just about everywhere. I don't have any religious beliefs, but if I was god I would disown you!

This is a good proposal. Kick out the squatters, especially Tondo. Rennovate to a world class place and teach the poor to not spit, piss, litter, and take a poop on rivers or streets. Make all people discipline and provide good education for them.
