Congrats Penny, my fav player ever. Fell in love with basketball and became an Orlando fan (and still am) because of you. When I was a kid, here in Italy in those days ('93-'94) all I heard about was how great MJ was and most of the kids were Bulls fans, but I was charmed by your game. Lots of love from Italy man, and thanks for the memories!

Penny was one of the best ever. Unique some of his moves are dangerous the skipping part and going down the hole bodies don't always move fast.

Penny played hurt against the Bulls the 2nd time in the playoffs...if he and Horace were healthy all the way, they would have put Jordan out again! 4 sho!

Memphis with all local players beat Ewing and Georgetown in the early eighties. That's why in the final four in 85 they called three fouls in Keith Lee in the first few minutes of the That were totally non fouls against Villanova. Memphis's Bobby Parks who was the Nations top defensive player broke his leg in the Metro Tournament and Memphis still made the Final Four. Keith and Memphis deserved a fair shake. The system wanted a Big East Team to win and the Tiger's had Georgetowns number. The announcers said that was a crime and Pickney just hammered the Tiger's but no fouls. That's when I knew it was rigged. But if Hardaway can keep Memphis's top players in Memphis the Tiger's will be a monster. The Tigers made three final fours with mainly hometown player's. It will take about 3 year's but am sure Penny's first year will be successful because he does have some good players coming already.

Dirty deal to Tubby Smith.

No it wasn't...he's gettin' paid. Something had to be done. The fans just weren't supporting his team and saw no hope in his style of recruiting. Why...who knows. But the school just couldn't stand to lose 2-4 million a year for the next 3 yrs. Season ticket sales are the life blood of this program, and from what I hear, the phone is ringing off the hook at the sales office. Tubby's gettin' paid, Tigers are selling tickets, and the fans are exicted...WIN, WIN, WIN.

Tubby has left so many kids chafing the next job, I have no sympathy for him. I’m a black man and I support ALL black people, but in this case I’m not fucking with Tubby.

School lost $4 million and had the lowest attendance in decades with Tubby. Projected to lose more next year. They don't get $20 million Power 5 checks. They grind on 2 or 3 mill, can't afford more of the same. And Tubby said Memphis kids didn't want to play for Memphis so he wouldn't spend much time recruiting them (he did devote some effort on Lomax, lottle effort on anyone else locally). Then, in 3 weeks, season tickets are skyrocketing (ie $$), Penny lands 2 Memphis kids, including one from his biggest AAU rival (Team Thad's Harris), each alone better than any recruit Tubby or Saul landed. Tubby didn't get the job done. I like the administration, but poor hire, poor fit by them. Fans weren't buying Tubby's condescension toward them.

Joe Della Selva During Tubby's first year he was talking to other school's. He also screwed Lawson' s dad and put his non talent son in Lawsons position. That's why the Lawson brothers went to Kansas. Tubby didn't even try to get four and five star player's. You can't get them if you don't try. When Tubby was at Kentucky he played his son like he was a four or five player when he was a 10 or eleven player. He kept better players on the bench and played his portly slow kid that couldn't even shoot. I believe in my heart t hats why Kentucky fired him. His Championship was with Pitino's players and he didn't replace them with the same caliber player's. The Fed Ex Forum was a embarrassment for the school and the city and the school was losing millions. Tubby screwed Lawson and that upset the fan base when your best player walks away because Tubby wanted his son and that was just wrong. Tubby wasn't going to get the team in a place to win. So Tubby can get what he wants to coach for another school.

Kurt Sherrick he didn't screw Keelon...although the smart move would be to keep the father of 2 of your best players,a coach has every right to pick his own staff.
