Great field! The nice thing about KZbin is if you don't have time to watch an hour long video, you can always come back later to finish it. Since you put out a lot of videos already, longer ones are probably more practical for you to produce. You do whatever works best for you!

Disagree. A few regulars of mine have gone to longer videos, I have given up on them and their figures don't look so good. A video would have to have really good content for me to spend a hour watching it, either in one part or not.

Loved to see the Queen Victoria silver 3d, brought back loads of memories because these were the coins used to put in Christmas puddings traditionally. I notice that many folk think that a pre decimal 6d is the pudding coin these days, I suppose as the silver 3ds became less available, the 6d took over. Luckily I still have my Grandma's collection of silver 3ds and use them for puddings.

That big old hunk of Lead might be a base weight for a desk lamp from the Victorian era. You didn't clean it up much but to me it looked like there was a threaded hole in the domed side of it, and you said it had Iron portions to it as well, and I know that many manufacturers used lead to add weight to the bottom of their lamps as a way to make them less likely to tip over. And on that same note, that copper piece with the decorated edge and three holes in it, one of them a tear drop shape, could be a part of a pen rest for the old style dip pens but it seems like it might be incomplete. But it could just as easily not have anything to do with pens as well. Great Video btw!!!!

Hiya John, so exciting to see you working the newest permission. Was serendipitous when that farmer drove by with that manure trailer in a previous vid. Glad he agreed to let you work it. Such a great feeling when you score an undetected permission! I enjoy a 45 min to 1 hr video. The history behind your finds are interesting and unique from other MD channels. I've subscribed to your travel channel as the Scottish history is fascinating. It's on my bucket list to visit there. Well done on the new finds and hopefully more silver, Roman, hammered and/or gold coins to come!

John, this was an excellent video, and I'm glad you put it all on one vid. That field is a real treasure, I hope you return to it again soon. You found so many "belters" along with two silver coins and a silver Catholic medallion with Virgin Mary. I also loved the relics you discovered. I'm glad you were solo, so that one of the Jammy Swines didn't find your silver!

John, love your videos, short or long. As for the big round disc of lead, it looks just like something you might find at my house. I am an electrician, plumber, mechanic, handyman etc and can never toss good metal in the bin. I have boxes for old copper, brass and lead. The copper and brass is sold to the recycling. The lead I melt down and cast into fishing lures, dive weights, all kinds of stuff. Sometimes the heat is turned off and the lead cools in the iron pan I melted it in....and then I have thick round 'ingots' of lead for later use. Aloha from a fellow pale blue Scottish person living in Hawaii. David Hume.

Hi John. Great collection of finds. Think I'm the minority when it comes to video length as I prefer shorter but that's just down to my busy lifestyle and keeping up with other KZbinrs too. Admittedly I had to skip through this one a little in places. Besides, I've just subscribed to your tour channel. More to keep up with 😄 I'll never miss a video but may have to speed through on longer ones is all. Otherwise, do what works best for you and the majority 😉

The key with the square end actually for turning on and out door hose tap in case the case you lose your tap attacment. If you unscrew your tape handle on your outdoor watering hose, you'll see a square attachment is left. The key should fit perfectly to turn your water source on and off.

The pendant looks like the sort of "souvenir" jewelry you can buy at Lourdes. If that's it, it certainly represent the virgin Mary on one side and a scene of an apparition with Sainte Bernadette Soubirous kneeling before the virgin Mary on the other. Current day Laudanum usually refers to Dilaudid. The oral opium (refined to heroin, or diacetylmorphine) alcohol drink you're referring to was known as Brompton's cocktail. The alcohol was usually gin. Sometimes it was mixed with thorazine to help minimize nausea. It was generally given to terminally ill cancer patients. This was common in Britain in to the 1970s. But my knowledge is old... I started Nursing School here in The U.S. in 1977.

That ferruled piece of brass could be a plaque for a barrel. As for how long your videos should be, If you aren't finding much but disappointment after disappointment then shorter, but if you're finding lots of great stuff and it doesn't all have to be coins, but relics and other things, Longer videos are better. Of course your History lessons are always fun to listen to, as well.
