Getting the image into cad is not the problem for me. My issue is that it doesn’t show up in the layout view for printing.

Layers. Set it to the right layer, then double-click the viewport and make sure the appropriate layer is VP unfrozen.

No bad practice you will have low resolution image.

Using this will slightly impact the image quality. That's why it's best suited for logos, as they are typically smaller. It's not advisable to apply this technique to larger images, as it will significantly increase the file size.
