Great video trip! I recognized the roadside scenery at the beginning of the video right away! That's State Road 76 (High Road to Taos) near the Cordova (Pueblo Quemado) turn-off as you drive towards Las Truchas. My roots are in those mountain villages. I come from the Romeros that were granted the Nuestra Senora del Rosario San Fernando y Santiago del Rio de Las Truchas land grant.

I descend from Juan Domingo Romero, who resided in the area of Las Trampas.

@@robmartinez7517 I wonder if Juan Domingo and my ancestor, Juan de Dios, were from the same Romero clan? Juan de Dios was son of Francisco Xavier Romero, who came with Vargas in 1693. But Bartolome Romero of Onate's expedition was also my ancestor, so we're related through the Romeros either way.

Maybe. But it has to be open, I have been inside when the sacristan was there, but usually it is locked.

Question for you. Can you recommend a book about the Jesuit settlement in Caballo Mtns in the 1600s?

I know the Jesuits were in Sonora and Arizona in the 1700s, but where in the Caballo Mountains? I know Jesuits came to New Mexico in 1867.

There's a reference to "Mission of the Seven Sorrows", torn down during the Pueblo revolt in the 1680s. Not sure of the history of this mission in the Caballo Mtns, but sounds interesting.

@@greenghopper Sorry, never heard of that. The Pueblo that was furthest south for the Pueblo Revolt was Isleta.

You will need to do a lot of research. Start with interviewing family and get as much info as possible. Names, dates, places.

Do a DNA test. There are a lot of people who will let you look at their online family tree if you're even distant cousins.
