Nice to see the long awaited Icarus third map is finally out. Definitely like watch and playing Icarus.

Been having a real blast with Prometheus, myself! Halfway down the mission tree, I'm finding that doing the missions via the mission tree is far more painful, as they're designed for the new open world method of doing them. They build upon the previous mission. The only reason to do missions through the mission tree is if you're farming exotics. Farming purple exotics is much easier, now that you can call down more workshop gear in the middle of a mission from the orbital exchange board. I call down a dropship beacon, two IC-001 extractors, and a couple power cores on top of purple nodes. Get electric extractor speeds, and load everything back on the dropship at the end. Find a second node, just use the beacon to call the dropship with all the gear to the next location. Oh, and you can ship gear back to orbit on the exchange pods, too, when you're completely done with it! Red exotics... are pain. Not going to spoil them, but they were very much a "FML" experience. The workshop items are incredible, though.

How do you do the missions in open world?

@@thakillman7 Start with the short range radio for SMPL missions. The first two will have you build the thing that allows you to take other missions.

Is there any point doing the missions from the missions menu now you can do the same missions in open world? In open world you don't have to rebuild a base for each mission.

From experience... do the missions in Open World. You will save yourself so much headache. The main reasons to do missions from the missions menu is to gather red exotics... but having done so once, I'm planning on grinding missions for them. It's so painful that I can't imagine the missions could possibly be worse... or add 3-4 hours to a mission. The rewards from the red exotics, though... they're absolutely incredible. The new T3 workshop crossbow fires as fast as a hunting rifle within its mag, hits almost as hard, and doesn't have a painful periodic reload. Unlike the bow, there's no appreciable missile drop. That's just one example.

You can only do missions once with operations in open world. Also, you cannot farm exotics in open world. And in my opinion, it was too easy to complete the missions with open world. Borderline boring

Ive been enjoying the Prmetheus expansion. Be careful the first mission is deceptively easy even on hard mode. As a solo player you will start to struggle once you get to mission 3 on hard mode. You can get to tier 3 easily from the caves in the grasslands. But you wont get Titanium or Platinum from them. You need to go to the Tundra or Lava biomes for Tit and Plat ( the swamp has a tiny amount). And to finish mission 3 you need to get to tier 4 composites so expect to take a while on that mission. Later on the resources get so much easier when you get miasmic tools. Cutting down a tree with a miasmic axe will give to 150 wood and 150 infected bark. The 150 nfected bark turns into 750 epoxy ! no more grinding bones !

The tunnel in the NE of the grasslands leading to the lava biome has all the titanium and platinum you need to get into T4, including biofuel, electric furnace, material processor, and the T4 mission device. Save a little for a chemistry station, foundry, and the miasmic pickaxe, though, as that'll solve your metal farming needs permanently!

Im glad to see you doing another run on icarus I think the idea of the game is super nice the implementation..........not so much but still love to see skilled players such yourself playing through

So basically the normal map with a purple filter and some new creatures. Totally worth the $30 extra for a DLC.

Been enjoying this dlc. It isn't your grandaddy's icarus. A bit rougher. I find it best experienced as the open world route through the missions.

can you repair the armor on the planet-side or do you have to rebuild in orbit? Also, have you seen the new stuff in DSP?

If you don't want to use workshop repair kits (which also require a powered repair bench), you have to ship the armor to orbit, exit to character select, repair in orbit, then go back into game and request them back. Annoying, certainly, but so much easier than grinding out power or just being stuck with broken gear.

@@b.delacroix7592 New T3 workshop crossbow (100 purple/100 red research, 250 Ren purchase) renders firearms a waste of time and materials with the sole possible exception of a hunting rifle with explosive rounds. The new crossbow fires as fast or faster, hits at least as hard, and ignores the damage reduction from hardened points.

Man escort missions just suck so badly and especially when the hitboxes on the enemies look so janky. That said I enjoy watching you play it even though I suspect I wouldn’t really enjoy playing this.
