Never sold out? NMA signed to EMI. Their parent company Thorn EMI makes guidance systems for nuclear weapons. You don't get much more sold out than that. When it comes to selling out, NMA are right up there in the top 3, alongside The Clash and Chumbawamba.

When I hear New Model Army, particularly Justin's voice, it's the musical equivalent of coming home, it sort of grounds you and consoles at the same time. Beautiful track.

Beautiful post, Rainbow Moon! I feel exactly the same way about JS' voice. Mr. Sullivan could move mountains, "part the waters" with that voice... if only he believed, that he could.

Been in love with this band since highschool 1989, my first album was Thunder and Consolation, still have my original vinyl copy in pristine condition... such a hard album to find in the US now, but so worthy of regard... perhaps a reissue?

You can't go wrong with NMA First time I saw them was in Seattle '89 and they chatted with everyone after the show. I was so friggin amazed we followed them to Canada for the next show and got to hang out backstage with them after I told Ed Alleyne who was playing violin with them for that tour that I had I followed them from Seattle. They were all great Justin was just down to earth and chatting with us. No rockstar bullshit, just dudes that gave it there all. From then on my favorite band forever.

"Let's go build a fire down on the empty beach when the waves are crashing high White heat purify, as the sparks fly up into the great black sky Sacrifice these crutches to the crackling flames Stand as silhouettes against the dawn It's far too late to try to sleep now, seems I'm never tired any more..." The ballad of bodmin pill, NMA. This is how I feel when I listen NMA. Cool hear new songs of this magnific band. Congratulations!!! Peace Love & Health to all, Greetings from Brasil.

Most underrated and unrecognised band ever. Total genius musically and if governments took heed of and followed the messages in the lyrics, the world would undoubtedly be a much better place with a much longer future.

Listening to NewModelArmy since I was born, every new songs is like a gift, remembering who I am, where I came from, and where I will go. Thanks , this song is flawless, "Parfaite de A à Z" like we said in France ;)

in the video we see a pagan rite (with what appears to be a Viking ship that burns), do you know if this party exists, and where?
@hplovehandle8 жыл бұрын
A lot of the Scottish Isles have longboat burnings, around Samhain, normally. Lewis in East Sussex has a massive bonfire party with it's origins in the English civil war.

What's in the video is Up Helly Aa festival in Lerwick, Shetland =]
@csamuel016 жыл бұрын
It's not pagan, it just goes back to early 1800's with the Viking element being added in the late 1870s. More here: www.uphellyaa.org/about-up-helly-aa/history "The emergence of Yuletide and New Year festivities in the town seems to post-date the Napoleonic Wars, when soldiers and sailors came home with rowdy habits and a taste for firearms." :-)
