We picked up a new model T. ok so this one is over 90 years old, so it’s not really new… Just new to us. This unit had been sitting for 22+ years without being run. Only a couple of nights to get it running, now it’s time to dial-in the performance so we can reach 35-40 MPH! Twice the fun at half the speed, right?
A quick walk around of the 1925 Roadster along with a quick diagnosis of why the charging system isn’t working. I sanded the armature but then found what appears to be a crack which I know I can’t polish out. Took the generator out and send it off to the experts to repair. $300 later and now it’s charging like it should.
Next project is to try to understand how the Timer works on a Model T. our “old” 1925 model T was converted to a distributer way before we got it, so I haven’t had experience with coil boxes, buzz coils, or timers up to this point. If you have any good sources of instruction on these things, please drop a note down in the comments.
Thanks for your help!
