Learn how to make this necklace! I make my own fused glass cabochons using 96 COE black aventurine (Oceanside brand) Fired to a full fuse, the same cabochons that are provided in our February 2023 Craft Along Kits and Booty Boxes! I demonstrate how to use a ring saw and grinder to shape the cabochon into a moon, then we get wild with some polymer clay and beads!

Hello! Beading was my jewelry start, like 25 years ago. I fell in love with daisy chains and had to learn to make them, down the hole I went, lol. I would use beading wire here. It holds the shape better, especially when you have bigger focals, like you do. I would use a thinner one so you could get it through the 11's. I would do 3 separate wire/cords. I would do a long through the middle and shorter above and below, that way I can adjust the tension so it hangs correctly. Testing it out on a bust, helps to get the "hang" right. Geez, I hope that makes sense.

For something that needs some work, it sure looks beautiful!!! What talent you and your team have. You've given an old (61) lady more reason to live. I've created my own art with macrameing hand blown vases with beautiful beads and crystals. My hangings are original and I've been able to make a living off of them. But I'm wanting new things to do, and I found you. I've lived off grid in Trapper Creek Alaska for 22 years now. I built my own cabin here back then, but since then I've been able to get cheap solar panels from Harbor Freight shipped up and that's helped me to be able to get internet access and I now have been able to put my own septic tank system down by watching a KZbin Channel. And now I'm learning from you a new talent with wire and my beautiful beads. I gotta thank you for teaching such stuff to me. You are a very talented little hippie woman. I love your tie dye!!! Sending my love to you and yours!!! Bless your hearts!✌🏻❤😊🌹 By the way, you'd love our festivals here in Alaska!😀

@Yvonne Williams you need to know that I have met no less than 5 fellow Von-watching fans in the wild... and when I say wild, I don't really mean at craft fairs or shows! I mean... maybe you and Randy are not quite household names, but when one crafter just mentions you guys and other crafters suddenly appear out of thin air to say, "oh yes, they're amazing! We love them!" Then you know you're pretty darn popular... #totallyNOTacult

Von, you were asking about durability, bead-stringing wire vs. Fireline. The bead-stringing wire is definitely more durable. I do mostly bead-weaving nowadays, arthritis too bad now for working wire very much, so I'm an "8lb. Fireline girl", LOL. But, bead-stringing wire not suitable for the more intricate bead-weaving, but for the project you're working on, the wire would likely be a better choice due to the weight of your cabochons. I love this though, and very creative use of mixed-media! P.S., the small labradorite cabs I got from you will make beautiful rings, I'm positive. Love them!

I love the necklace, and I love watching your design prosess. 90% of designing bead jewelery is restringing until you're happy with the result. Personally I like bead thread for things that requires drape and movement, and bead wire for things that requires structure. I don't think one is better than the other, it's just a matter of what is best suited for the effect you want. When using bead thread, I like to pull out a comfortable amount of thread to work with, but without cutting it of the spool. Then, once I run out of thread, I will pull out a new length from the spool to work with, and just thread it through the beads to where I need it. That way there's half as many ends to deal with. I try to thread through all the beads at least twice, both for strength and because it makes them lay neater. I think your little hanging part would have looked a lot better if you just threaded through it a couple of extra times.
