NRS should go all out if their next game is another Mortal Kombat, make it have the longest story mode, biggest roster from the start not just MK characters but guest characters in the base roster, bring back the krypt, bring back MK11 customization, have all the type of finishers from the start, most amount of stages. Gameplay wise it should be a mix MK9, MKX, MK11 and MK1.

I say MK2 would be good in a few years. But for sure next. No Injustices until after the next MK. WB needs more focus on that just so we get something of a higher tier of gameplay, rather than just feeling like it will be a skin on top of MK1. If we can get MK2 in 2027 and have lots of GOOD updates to MK1 along the way, I would not be mad at that.

While I respect Ed Boon decision of wanting every game to look different, he legit neee to learn about "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I wish the next MK games success man. It sad to see how fall MK now since MK11. It hurt even more to see the FGC keep trashing MK now. FGC always hate and jealous towards MK dominate the fighting game market all this time. Now that MK is sucks, is like a golden opportunity for FGC to talk shit on MK. I want to see MK rise back again, like the days of MK9 and MKX, the time when the game was so good that the FGC has to shut their mouth. I'd love to see an MK beat em up 2D similar to the Konami TMNT games or Shredder's Revenge 6 players online and offline they can do soooo much given how big MKs universe is, different stages for each realm? Tbh, I think MK1 was just a symptom of WBs push for games as a service. I still 100% believe thet the game was Injustice 3 in very early development and was pivoted to MK due to the popular nature of the IP. This year alone with Suicide Squad losing 200 million in Q1, Multiverses being a massive flop, and seeing what happened with Concorde; this is truly a wakeup call for WB. MK1 as a package doesn't make sense as a MK game, however, if you look at it from the perspective of a 2023 WB title then it makes perfect sense. It's the reason why its the lowest selling NRS MK title to date. I have confidence that if WB lets NRS cook, then NRS will cook. I'm hoping that MK1 just ends up being a side project in the grand scheme of things and we get back to the real, classic, and gritty feel of MK storywise and gameplay wise. NRS and WB both know that MK1 is not the game that fans wanted, and I like MK1. I love the gameplay but I can 100% admit that the story is a hot mess and the majority of the characters with the exception of maybe Ashrah, Reptile and Baraka were done dirty.

I enjoy MK1 a little more than MK11 but I too have to admit that it has its flaws, the reason why i like MK1 it's because it's fatalities and brutalities are more easier to perform at least on my experience while MKX and MK11 are tricky because of the conditions, also for me the roster in MK1 it's better than MK11 because of the return of 3d characters.

I don't think Warner Bros has what it takes to make a good MK game anymore. They have focused too hard on monetization and playing it safe with their MCU style MK-Multiverse story. MK9 was the closest thing to an NRS game unsullied by corporate executive hands, but it's only gotten worse with each installment. I want a good Mortal Kombat game, one that is good enough to match Street Fighter and Tekken, but I don't think Warner Bros will ever be able to give us that.

What's funny is that I believe the reason why MK1 was so rushed and unfinished is directly related to the community putting so much pressure on NRS. If you don't remember, we had just about a year with no updates or anything during the "dear NRS" movement from the end of MK11. People were furious because we were left in the dark with no communication for a new game or anything. I think this caused NRS to move up the deadline causing it to be unfinished.. It's nice that NRS has been communicating a lot more recently, but I just hope that they take their time with whatever game they release next.

I think that has something to deal with it for sure, but I’m willing to bet that the WB people also had a big hand in the issue as well. Think about that suicide squad game, and how they desperately wanted it to be a thing. It was gonna be their new live service gold mine but every single time it got play tested people hated it, so it had to get delayed over and over and over. Promised deadlines weren’t hit, investors probably got mad, and they likely figured hey, Mortal Kombat is finished enough, let’s push that out the door And fill it full of live service stuff while suicide squad cooks. Frankly I’m glad that didn’t really work out for them. Always a good day when David Zaslav takes an L.

The next title is definitely IJ3. That's probably what he meant by "DC and specifically Batman" since IJ2 is the last successful DC game and to a non-gamer, IJ looks like a Batman fighting game. There's absolutely no way they're releasing a new MK game in 2025 unless it's a re-release like an HD remaster or something like that...they said they're supporting MK1 for "years to come".

The key to a successful mk is right in front of them. Mkx’s speed and combo system was peak. I tried to give both 11 and 1 a chance but its just so slowwww. Embrace that the franchise is tongue and cheek and just give players the balls to the wall mixups they want.

WB announcing that they are focusing on MK is a very negative thought tbh, especially since the cited reason is bc Suicide Squad cost them 500m. The reason it cost them that much is bc WB continuously makes the baffling decision to double down on live service stuff that doesnt work, so I expect MK to get the full brunt of it to accomodate the lost money to mixed results. I have zero faith in their ability to deliver a product that isnt rushed out the door and soulless. It took MK1 a year to get where it is, and now it feels like a proper MK game (barely. The only interesting thing imo is the online but the characters have become fun across the board. Content-wise the game is a joke)

honestly i dont think a injustice game is outside of the realm of possibilities, DC and batman, developed by NRS in the form of a fighting game can fit in that descrition, and mortal kombat as a franchise doesnt mean especificly fighting game too, i wouldnt be surprised to see NRS growing as studio, and having 2 games happening at once, a nonfighting game MK like shaolin monks 2 and a new IJ3 is pretty much all the community wet dream, i know its mine!

Will always LOVE and welcome a new MK game IF done correctly, back to its roots. Wish List: Being back the good ol mythical MK lore. That mystical feeling the early games brought. Lets get out of having all the women heavily covered in clothing. Bring back some seriously sexy female skins. Fine to do some of those 10 layers of clothing skins for variety purposes, but lets not COMPLETELY EXCLUDE those sexy female skins like we've clearly seen done in MK1. They finally gave us one, just one, sexy female skin in MK1 and that's Mileena's throwback skin (not 100% accurate which is still annoying, but at least better than they have been lately). Actually, let me add, Sindell's MK1 deception skin is one of the better ones too. Also, please bring back pretty female faces. What we've seen lately has been god awful. Being back multiple character intros and outros. MK 11 did this great! Bring back the ability to have at least 4 or 5 presets of character outfits during player match select. I honestly hate MK1's randomizer. Bring back awesome, creative, stage fatalities!! And please give us a pit stage! Bring back sub bosses that knock the shit out of you with certain hits, make us feel like holy shit look at this dude! and give us a bad ass final boss!! I do enjoy MK1s game play and honesty think its a lot of fun in its own way, but also loved the speed/rush down of MKX, lets incorporate some of those game play mechanics again. Bring back the Krypt! The MK 11 version was AMAZING, so much fun. Lastly, if they still continue with DLC characters that are not part of fhe MK universe, i'd love to see Sho Nuff!! (From Barry Gordans Last Dragon)
