The point of gear ups has always been mode switch, just that everyone uses normal mode for cannon and AT, and multi mortar because it has no downsides, so the mode switch appeal has been lost. Even then, this defense balanced both mode quite well, cannon mode is a bit stronger but I can see AT mode still have a use.

As I said we’ll see, but those other siege machines were also easier to see clearly what they are good at from the beginning too. Whilst this one has unique factors; as I did funneling either side of the base whilst doing a Warden charge, there always tends to be a better option.

It was always more difficult than TH16, especially comparing releases. There was just a lot of defensive upgrades and with the TH being weaker when merging it appears out of the gates that it was overall weaker than a TH16. As more people are upgrading and doing the extra merge it is more difficult. Difficult enough is always up to subjectivity; but it’s certainly a lot more difficult than some were making out yes.

I like the gear-up requirement and players have 9-10 months to get it before it is required for the next town hall. It rewards you for playing builder base and if you are th17, you should have played some builder base by now. The requirements for it are also very low, a level 4 AT and level 6 cannon in builder base. That doesn't take long. If they want the multi gear tower without doing any builder base, too bad.

Sure I can see that. My point is not the implementation now before TH18, clearly there’s enough time. Whilst the requirement is small, for the wide player base clash has there will be people irritated by being forced to play BB. I’m not the biggest fan of it. It’s not a big deal because the requirement is so small, but I personally think encouraging different game modes is good, but it’s not ideal to make them a requirement. For example Clan Capital too, clearly you’re incentivised to do it - but you don’t have to.

I didn't expect that both cannon and archer tower will be merged. I've only thought that they'll be the last of them standing on the base and trying to catch up on the theme of the town hall by leveling them up again (only applicable to the geared up upgrades) But no, when Ferri says that "all cannons and archer towers will be merged" during TH17 interview, he truly mean it. I honestly don't hate the idea, it was honestly better than my expectations. I also did like the tesla's level too, they look very similar to the TH17's edges in terms of design. Can't wait to see other more sneak peaks, Judo! Thank you for showing us this as a heads up❤

8:15-8:26 While I agree, I absolutely think it needed to be done. Either merging to gear-ups or removing their existence was inevitable due to Supercell trying to cut down on defense fluff. The merge also fixes aesthetic issues by removing that odd numbered cannon out of the base. I'm a huge fan of the design and while I absolutely think the cannon version will see more use on account of that ridiculous damage, it's again great to have more options to choose when defending. I do think this number of growing options harms what has been diminishing from the casual side of the community: Base building. People just don't do it anymore for themselves. Everyone copies strong layouts because the knowledge that comes with increasing options can always be a bit daunting to get into. And top players will always design new layouts that are immediately accessible for a majority of players. Adding in details to the customization of bases might make it easier for players to consider how to create a base that defends well against certain strategies. There could be descriptions of certain base styles within the meta that properly look at what it succeeds at vs what it fails at and why, from there the player can change up how they envision that style of base for themselves. EX: ground vs air xbows being more practical as hero assassins and flame flinger guardians. Also please for the love of all things Supercell let us hide decorations on the deployment bar when building bases. It's a personal nitpick but one that turns me away from that entire side of the game.

@@riccardodellorto4267 Depends on how you tackle it but the current system does work to an extent. I agree the visual annoyance of waiting on purple archer towers until 17 is a bit disappointing. But merged ones immediately to max level takes away from the grind and would have that loot go back into your walls. So careful what you wish for.

The Multi Gear Archer Tower range of 12 is close to Xbow (ground, 14) and further than mortar's and monolith at 11 range. This means it is another tower than can fire back at the flame flinger, giving it at least one use case. But losing 300 DPS is like losing out on a whole xbow worth of damage. Considering that the range of the cannon mode isn't too bad at 8 tiles.

The new siege machine gives me the idea that the removing of the eagle & town hall poison while separating the bomb was done with the idea of siege machine versatility. At previous town halls I’ve mainly opted for a blimp to try and avoid the town hall effects for the most part.

I get your point about the new merged defence and how they requires builder base but by the time you’re th17 even if you don’t play builder base and just use the monthly pass resources you get it costs like 7 million builder gold to get to bh6 and get the lvls for the defences in builder base so realistically it would take 7 months without playing a single game in builder base to get the cannon and archer geared up if you only get resources from the silver pass. Less if you have gold pass. To get to th17 takes longer than 7 months so 99.9% of people should be ok

I will say, I think if you’re a new or returning player and at th17, you’re probably already familiar with the builder base if not that you have it completely maxed already. A new player who hasn’t played since builder base was added will likely be at best th13 or whatever was there when it was added (it may even be earlier) which will take years to reach th17. So, I think they’ll be covered!

I don’t like how it seems upgrades stats are divided by two, and the other stats are in supercharge. Like +5 damage for the scattershot is underwhelming and the supercharge gives as much; it forces everyone to waist resources in supercharge

I went to TH17 earlier than I probably should have. So I have tons of stuff to upgrade still. I’m so glad I didn’t super charge any of my defenses. Mostly cause I needed to bring other defenses up to minimums. But still! Wasted time in my case. The only thing worth it so far have been the resources. I’ve more than made up for the downtime caused by upgrading them.

There needs to be an anti invisibility trap in this game as invisible troops and spells are far too strong. Maybe a small trap that reveals enemy troops in a small area.

Invis based blimps are fairly balanced, since you gotta dedicate a ton of spell hs to pull off the thing, limiting use cases. Invis based hero charges are indeed pretty broken, but that's more on electro boots still being very good after the nerf, as well as prince being straight up broken

I wish the barrel had a limited range but you could tap where you wanted the deployment (it would show a ready sign and give you 10s before the barrel was auto-thrown or something) its seems relatively weak in current state and just like a siege barrack but deploys closer to troops? Edit* perhaps the range could be 50% of the map so you could almost use it for cover for hero charge or QC invis and add a warden etc

All I know, is that at TH16, nearly done, I'm at the perfect spot for this drop. I really hate super archers. Those need to be massively reeled in. There's just nothing you can do to defend against it. It's different than a Spirit Walk. New Siege Machine will get upgraded, but collect dust for me as well. With the new defenses, that Giant Bomb has new uses for asset denial.

When using troop thrower its better to bring valkrey because they can wreck inside and bulky hp so our rc can give extra maximum power to dive

I’m definitely excited for the new update! Do you know when is the upcoming update? I knew they were going to get rid of the cannon and archer tower but I never thought it’d be so soon!

Sometimes I think supercell should have left the townhall defense, poison and death damage alone and merge eagle and multi mortar. Make it similar to how townhall attacks now but with range like og eagle and gave us a new mortar to build. That would have been best of both worlds.

would love to see you make another video with a challenge to pros. If you ask them to use the new siege machine, I'm sure that'll find some very interesting ways to use it!
