XQD / CFExrpress has much faster error checking and write checking redundancies built in compared to SD. Speed & Heat is dictated by the interface's bandwidth with XQD having a much broader data pipe so more can be written to more locations simultaneously resulting in a faster speed (think mulit-lane highway vs 2 laned road). Packed transistors is more a matter of storage capacity vs card size. There's also secondary characteristics to consider like the heat dissipation of the card materials and the ruggedness to things like torsion and crush resistance.

Believe or not with a Techart autofocus adapter you can use Sony e-mount lenses on Nikon z series camera bodies without loosing autofocus or focus to infinity. Of course the autofocus isn't as fast as with e-mount cameras but is good enough. The flange focal distance of Nikon Z mount lenses is very short 16mm. Any lens designed for cameras with focal distance longer than 16mm, can be used with adapter on Nikon Z mount camera bodies. That is an important advantage of Z mount cameras that is rarely brought to light.

I really don't get it how these people criticize its fps. It is just the Z6, without back side illuminiating, so you don't use it for extrem low light, and reduced speed, so you don't use it for extrem fast motion captures. You guys shooting sports birds and concerts with a $1.4k entry body? To me this body is perfect for my application that I've been looking for one. It is cheap so on my off days/after work I can just throw it in the bag, not worrying too much about it being damaged compared to my workhorse gear that I earn income with, bring the camera with me everywhere, messing around, experiment/enjoy shooting. Anything semi-serious, including shooting for family outings/company event I'd bring a more pro body as that would be something involving other people that I have to answer to. For all other low key personal noodling around this is the perfect match. And this is thus a perfect entry body to a lot of people as well.

Love the feel in the hands plus using one had to do all operations needed for pics. Two card slots and price for me. Found out that there is a toggle button on the left side of the viewfinder that can turn off the back LCD screen or the EVF or both on. All of the videos that I have watched about this camera did not show this. They did show on the other side of the EVF for people who wear eye glasses can make the EVF screen smaller.

Out of curiosity are there any stats out there about how many XQD cards that have failed for photographers? Is it actually as important in the XQD/CF express world to have two card slots as in the SD world?
@youknowwho92474 жыл бұрын
Anyone who shoots professionally needs two slots, no matter what. Even if the chance of a card failure is 1/1000 - the downside risk is too severe to risk it. If you lose an entire wedding/event/ insert job that can't be re-shot here, there's a real chance it'll end your business. In a world where dual cars bodies exist, going without a backup would be insanely negligent.
@AlanHoey864 жыл бұрын
Landscope 360 shouldn’t a pro doing work such as events/weddings not be using two cameras, back and forth with a different lens on both bodies? If a ‘pro’ photographer is showing up to an event with one camera and the camera fails with no backup, I’d say that would be negligent. I’d be interested to know the failure rate of an xqd card vs a camera body itself. A competent photographer should be shooting back and forth with two bodies so that there is zero risk of losing an entire event regardless of wether they are dual or single card slots.
@youknowwho92474 жыл бұрын
@@AlanHoey86 Sounds to me like you've got neither experience in professional shooting, nor thought this through. Some people use two bodies, some change lenses and keep the backup body in the bag until they need it. Whatever the case, if the shot of the ring exchange or first kiss, or bouquet toss was recorded on a failed card - good luck explaining that to a bride.
@CertainExposures4 жыл бұрын
HubbleFunk that strategy only works if said pro photographer is an octopus and can take pictures of the kiss, cutting the cake, and the first dance with two cameras on long lenses at the same exact time. Any time you’re working an event, things move fast. Arguably, you might miss more moments switching.
@youknowwho92474 жыл бұрын

For a great full frame budget camera the Nikon Z5 is hard to beat considering the many features you get including 5 axis stabilization. This is a great camera for the price. Image quality of z5 is great on Dpreview photo samples. If someone gets a 5 inch monitor than z5 is fine for vlogging and content creation. One point to also consider for 4K with Z5, is the work around for 4K and wide angle. Just use you DX lenses such as DX 10-20mm or Z 16-50mm or DX 16-85mm and you should get close equivalent to full wide of the DX area. The pixel read is about 1:1in DX. I read this online in forums, "correct me if I am wrong" but this makes sense to me, so that means 4K is usuable in DX crop mode with wide angle adapted DX lenses. (4K would be somewhat similar to using a "apsc camera" with full wide available in this area of sensor.) Z5 is still available at great prices. The 4K crop of Z5 is 1.7x, while DX crop from FF, is 1.5x so it is very close. Z5 camera is also recommended for use with Zhiyun Crane M3 Gimbal.

Once i got Z6 in my hands, i put my D750 as backup. It's better overall. As far as focusing, keepers rate is higher. Usability in different scenarios by using that fast "live view" mode or using long shutter speed is awesome. The only things i can say that i miss is the better grip on the D750 and low light autofocus assist beam (the green one on the body is not good enough). Bottom line, either way as still shooter you can make awesome stuff with both of them. If you have D750, i think is better to stay with it; Z5 is awesome, but you will get much more if you go one tier higher, and if you are coming from entry level dslr or mid range, Z5 is very good purchase.

4:10 „we have had 10 sd card failures“; 4:15 „having a backup is a must have [...] for us“; 6:30 *Canon RP* „we bought 7 of them for our studio“

The studio RPs use HDMI out without SD cards. A splitter goes to a computer and a field recorder, providing redundancy.

Also compared the Z5 to the Lumix S5 but price and better focus breathing/Auto Focusing is why I chose the Z5. I wanted a camera that wasn't small in my hands.

I had a chance to try the Z5, I love the handling of the camera and it seems very well made. However as a Sony a7iii user the autofocus isn't as good. Also you have better lens choices with Sony. I have the Samyang 45mm f1.8 as an example. Very very sharp and well priced, the Sony 85mm f1.8 is also great and not expensive. By the way I'm not a Sony fan boy , I used to shoot Nikon DSLR cameras, but fell in love with mirrorless after using Olympus cameras.

I'm happy with my D750... really wish the D780 was a true hybrid i.e. had somekind of clever EVF & OVF solution but... failing that Nikon really could do with releasing a F mount adapter that can also support screw drive (D) lenses - the nikon 135mm DC is my main headshot lens and it's one where the AF accuracy is a bit hit and miss so it could benefit from contrast detect focusing but it's not properly supported with the current adapter

I don't see an issue with the table at all. I did't noticed it until I read the "breaking news". I was focused at the subject with Nikon! Thanks for sharing this, Tony!

What's the failure rate for XQD cards? They were supposed to be far more bullet-proof than SD cards, not to mention faster.

Do you consider the DX0mark results when drawing conclusions about the Nikon Z5? For potrait photography78% For street photography excellente..97.0 For sports 76.o For dailly 94.0 excellent For landscape 51.0

4.5 fps is the deal braker. Why would they put pro features like dual card slots, joystick and magnesium alloy body, just to cripple it by the slow continuous frame rate. I really do not get it, who is this camera for? Even wedding and event photographers would feel they may miss the golden shot with such a slow cfr. Nikon markets it as an "entry level", but the price suggests otherwise. It is neihter here, nor there...

It’s going to be slower than a constipated turtle. Like, I asked earlier why the kit lens for it is only f4-6.3, not the usual f3.5/5.6. They could have made at least an f4 lens for it. Another turd muffin camera.

@@ytr8989 Yeah, the kit lens is the other mystery. I got the idea of making it super compact, but c'mon 2x zoom and 4-6.3? I'd rather use my m4/3 with a couple of primes @ 1.8. I'll get better IQ and a shallower DOF that way.
