New Normal || Complete Crazy Graystripe AU MAP

Original MAP call - • New normal - Crazy Gra...
This is an AU about how Graystripe went insane after Silverstream died. He blames Cinderpaw for this and lashes out at her. Cats ThunderClan and RiverClan come running to the cries of a fight, Graystripe takes the kittens and leaves with RiverClan. Mosspelt becomes a foster mother for Stormkit and Featherkit, Graystripe watches them gloomily from the side, when he suddenly begins to see the terrible spirit of Silverstream. The spirit constantly follows Graystripe wherever he goes. Only he sees her, and Silverstream constantly whispers terrible things to the Graystripe. She starts asking him to kill Stormkit and Featherkit and then kill himself so they can all live in StarClan. During the night, Graystripe leads the kittens out of the camp, he digs up Silverstream's corpse and kills the children. Mosspelt finds him smiling and crying next to the deads. At first she is in a stupor, but then she comes to her senses and runs to call for help. A squad of cats find Graystripe when he was about to eat the deathberries and take him to the camp. Everyone is puzzled and frightened by what happened. The crowd is very angry on the Graystripe. Leopardstar is holding Graystripe's trial. Mudfur says that Graystripe was out of his mind when he committed the murders and claims that he needs to be treated and help, but no one listens to the medicine cat. In this AU, Leopardstar was very close to Crookedstar and treated Stormkit and Featherkit as her family, so she was especially upset and angry. She orders the mob to maul the Graystripe. Graystripe was glad to die, but asked to be buried in the same grave with his children and his beloved. However, to spite Graystripe, Leopardstar ordered to bury him somewhere in the mud. To this day, there are rumors among RiverClan that due to improper burial, Graystripe cannot get into either StarClan or DarkForest and his ghost howls at night

-Was the spirit of the Silverstream real or a hallucination of the Graystripe?
Hallucination. It's just a product of his traumatized mind
-Graystripe in StarClan or DarkForest?
What they say about him after death is true! He's not in StarClan or DarkForest, he's a ghost
-Who went to the sea instead of Feathertail?
Mothwing! And she died like Feathertail in the original
And after Mudfur, medicine cat became Willowpaw (he chose her before his death). To help apprentice, medicine cats from other clans took turns coming to RiverClan to give lessons

I know this isn’t the intention, but this comes off as heavily ableist, schizophrenia and psychosis are heavily stigmatized, and as someone who has many friends who experience horrifying hallucinations, increasing the idea that people with hallucinations will harm others is really really horrible hnnn

I know full well that schizophrenics are not as scary as they are often portrayed. I know that these people are more likely to harm themselves than others, I understand how difficult it is for them to live. I know that not all schizophrenics develop psychosis, and I know that among criminals there are many more healthy people than people with disorders. But since we are talking about schizophrenics, I will also say: Among them there are indeed those who manifest acute forms of delirium and those who can really show aggression and even kill someone, especially if they are not given proper treatment. And it's terrible. This MAP was a random fantasy and was not intended to be very serious and I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings with this

@@ognickstar It’s just probably for the better you avoid making any crazy aus or anything in the future ^^ things like this can add to negative perception of people with debilitating mental illness, although I know that wasn’t your intention at all I hope this didn’t upset you, I’m really sorry if it did ! It’s just something I noticed as I’m pretty serious about portrayals of mental illness in media, media outlook on mental illness is pretty important yk? and when the majority of schitzophrenia and psychosis is portrayed in a “dangerous” way, it’s important to have realistic representation as well, the majority of those with these illnesses aren’t violent, and when they are it’s not a result of the illness.

There’s nothing wrong with this au though?? Just because he delved into insanity and kills because of it doesn’t mean it’s ableist. Things like that have happened but here, it’s seriously not meant to be ableist. It’s just a creative horror au. The warriors series itself is full of ableism, but these maps are relatively harmless. I personally suffer through vivid hallucinations from PTSD and I don’t see anything wrong with this map or aus like it because it’s for the sad, horror aspect. We see Graystripe raw with grief here but instead of coping and moving on, his trauma drags him into a devastating cesspit. Whenever the warriors community gets creative they are automatically jabbed at for it, always with the people trying to cancel others. People trying to cancel the Zombie Bramblestar map for using that song, this and the evil Tawnypaw map for “ableism”?? And many others for “cultural appropriation” when majority of the comments were caucasians speaking on other ethnic groups. It’s honestly a damn shame. I can’t speak for all people who have schizophrenia, any forms of psychosis and whatnot, but I do wish people would lay off the cancel culture shit, pointing fingers and blame. It is especially exhausting to see people always starting with the same shit like “I know this isn’t the intention, but..” or “Hey, this comes off as -ist/ism” when yes, that wasn’t the intention at all. They had good intentions with this map and many others. And I fully agree that media representation is extremely important when it comes to mental health, but people shouldn’t look at a warrior cats map and take it seriously. It’s just a project that people have fun with to create a horrifying experience. Mental illness is still heavily stigmatized in today’s culture and as sad as that is, we shouldn’t have to focus on warrior maps like this with the idea that people might take offense to it when there is actual, degrading content out there that harms people. I’m not saying leave certain shit alone in any circumstance but this wasn’t supposed to harm anybody.

I’m not trying to discredit people with mental illness who do feel demonized or uncomfortable by this map but.. it’s not meant to harm anybody. Anyone that’s uncomfortable with it can click away if need be. I mean, people should know what they’re getting into just by the title alone.
