I watched that show as a kid ! Sea hunt was on the air about that time too. That T V show was my first taste of looking for old stuff in or on the ground ! Never found gold or silver but I ended up with a published fossil collection and even some named after me instead. I was only a kid when I collected the Holotype of the first fossil lamprey. I'm Mayomyzon himself and I still love hunting for old stuff and videos like this ! Keep up the good work . Peace

Interesting theory. I suppose it could be true, but seems unlikely. Actual treasure buried by pirates were not buried in very deep and booby trapped systems, but rather in more shallow places for temporary time frames. More often than not, the treasure was spent. Also his crew would have had to have been trained at mining for the Oak Island pit, nothing indicates his crew had extensive mining or surveying skills. Additionally Kidd is associated with another island.

Yeah way too sophisticated to be pirates and I hear most of the booty they would get wasn't in just gold mostly it was fabrics and tradable goods

The Wilkins map occurrence is a prime example of confirmation bias. It's a glitch hard coded deep in human thought, where we reflexively find evidence which coincidentally confirm what we wish to be true, and feel great confidence in it. At the same time, evidence that doesn't fit goes right over our heads. People not aware of this glitch in their thinking and exercising mental discipline can go on the most passionate wild goose chases.

*You've stated: "The Point, most valuable to this Subject." I keep going to that in my thoughts, as I journey this Series, by Hammerson Peters: Who had ,the technical, mechanical, the Engineering of the Pit and it's various measures for securing, what may be located beneath? *"this very subject is, in my perspective, the key to determine, which Theory has the greater potential."* It is the only method, save unearthing an answer, that will solve the Mystery of: *"Who Designed, Dug, and Deposited the (?Treasure?) of Oak Island?"*

To anyone with a bit of knowledge it is quite clear the organisation behind this is the freemasons. The name of the island itself "oak island" being an allude to phallic symbolism. Other things to look for to control whether it is freemasonry work is 1. to look for the magic numbers 11, 22 and 33 2. Egyptian inspiration 3. Stone tablets or writing etched in stone 4. Square and compass or pentagram shapes. As to what the treasure is if its still there it should be occult texts describing the pathway to immortality, the tetragrammaton (which is a powerful magic symbol) and maybe some material valuables although they would be considered to be secondary as the true reward would be sacred knowledge and direct initiation into the higher degrees.

I think there is an entrance at the eye of the swamp... The long end of Nolan's cross is in line with the tip of the swamp... The horizontal line of the cross matches up with the money pit... The other end lines up with Jewdry Cove... The cross is a marker for the tunnels which are directly under the cross... The island's were essentially separate from each other with steep banks between... They dug the tunnels and then connected the islands with the man made swamp and dirt. There is probably another entrance at the short end of the cross... Or that may even be the treasure pit...

My personal view on this is that there is nothing at the bottom of that pond. There might have been a treasure centuries ago, or maybe decades ago, but as of the present, I think the folks in the tv series are punching into thin air. I think after the treasure was removed from the area, centuries ago, engineers design a way to flood the underground tunnels they had dug up so that people in the future, those digging now, did not accidentally fall in those underground corridors and die. This is my non-scientific approach to the Oak Island mystery. It’s good entertainment, though.

@Robinson Pittman granted the work ethic was far greater years ago than know I had a uncle that at 74 years old could and would split fire wood from daylight to dark with nothing more than a water can and a axe I believe I heard oak island was is something like 2 miles long not sure how wide but a few hundred yards at least Dan Blankenship told of there being three flood tunnel on 3 sides of the island going from under the water to the money pit, to depths of more than 90 feet you could do the math with the shaft its self all the flood tunnels large enough for a man to shore up and dig in plus I'm sure theres some kind of air shafts somewhere that's hundreds of thousands cubic feet of dirt maybe more I dont see how a small crew of men with picks and shovel could have dug it in 50 years especially staying focused for as long as it would have taken to have done it, pirates spending years to hide their treasure rather than out spending it? I think the Mason theory hiding religious artifacts makes much more since I believe also that's why theres such a broad time frame of artifacts found I think it took years and most probably hundreds possibly thousands of slaves human nature says why would people spend that much effort to elaborately hide there own treasures rather than enjoying it I believe who ever did it was forced to do so much like the great structures of Egypt or Rome

It’s generally assumed that since Hedden found what he did as a result of his particular interpretation of the instructions then that view has to be on the right track. I believe that this is correct only up to a point. The rest is coincidence. Hedden assumed that the instructions (and the map) applied to OI essentially owing to its reference to Rocks and a Tree. This is likely correct. He paced out the distance between the rocks and found this to be some 420 feet and appreciated that this is roughly 25 rods which is the sum of the distances of 18 and 7 mentioned in the first line. He may have been influenced by the fact that the Cave-In Pit lay about 7 rods from the East Rock and that the Tree appears to be the objective of the instructions. Incidentally, why would this be so as it was so obvious anyway? You don’t need convoluted instructions to find it. The rocks would be far more difficult to find - and the easiest way to find the West Rock would be from the Tree!. It’s not clear whether Hedden rediscovered the Welling Triangle by following his interpretation of the instructions or if this happened after having called in Roper to conduct his survey. In any event, it was assumed that the rod was the unit of measure throughout the instructions. I believe that this is also correct (after all, it's the base unit of the ground plan). The distance from the Welling Triangle to the Tree (Money Pit) from the point at which the line of 30 rods ends is short of 300 feet, which is closer to 18 rods than the 14 rods specified in the instructions. Furneaux recognized that 7 x 8 x 4 is a close approximation to a right angled triangle with angles of 30 and 60 degrees (probably put into his mind by the form of the Welling and Mallon Triangles) and wondered whether the side of 4 rods had to be added to the 14 in order to reach the Tree. I believe that Furneaux was correct about the 7 x 8 x 4 triangle, but wrong about its location. Now, let’s step back a bit. Hedden measured 7 rods West of the East Rock and 18 rods East of the West Rock. This is not what the instructions say. It is clearly 7 rods East and 18 rods West. However, this would not result in points between the two Rocks unless the offsets were applied the other way. Hedden had reversed the bearings on the first line - and I believe he was correct to do so - but he didn’t reverse the bearings on the second line or, more correctly perhaps, reverse the lines as well, thus: Rock 7W and 18 E Tree 14S, 30 NE 7 x 8 x 4 (or 4 x 8 x 7) This is now in keeping with the format of the two other Wilkins maps and presents an entirely different scenario! We have three starting points and offsets from them. So, do what they say. Mark a point 7 rods due west of the East Rock, another 18 rods due east of the West Rock, then from the Tree (Money Pit) measure 14 rods due south and then 30 rods northeast. This provides three points forming a triangle in the vicinity of the Cave-In Pit. What do we do now? The Palmer-Kidd Skeleton map provides the essential clue in plain English. It reads, “from centre of triangle between Rocks 20 feet E.” Thus, we are told to find a triangle’s centre and take an offset. Maybe the Wilkins maps, and the other Palmer-Kidd map, all conform to exactly the same specification. So, if we locate the centre of the triangle specified by the Wilkins map in question then we can use the 7 x 8 x 4 instruction to provide the required offset. Following Furneaux, construct a triangle with a base of 7 rods west from this centre point, four rods south and then 8 rods back to the starting point - and then plot its centre. The Palmer-Kidd Skeleton Map provides the key to opening up the instructions on the other maps, that is, locate three points from the ground markers at the east of the island, find the centre of the triangle thus formed and then take an offset as specified. They all work in the same way and, as you’re aware, identify a pattern of points on the Rhombus Rectangle. Everything on the island was potentially left for a purpose, and that purpose is presumably to enable the building up of the overall ground plan and, ultimately, to identify the hot spot on the island. Wilkins placed genuine instructions on island outlines of his own creation. However, the Palmer maps, most importantly, contain essential interior detail from the original maps. The original outline was actually published by Wilkins in the same book as the instructions under review: John S's Island = Des Barres' Gloucester Isle = Oak Island. Wilkins didn't know the islands location, but then Hedden indirectly told him.

Excellent synopsis!!! Your thoughts on this story seem to be as credible as any I've heard from the show and I've watched it since day one! Like many folks that enjoy this show, my fascination started with the story in Readers Digest. Whether or not they find "treasure" of the gold, silver, gemstones or Christian artifacts (or Shakespeare's manuscripts), I think we would be remiss to not consider all of the structures that HAVE been uncovered, a treasure unto themselves, but that is merely my opinion. I look forward to each new season and since Dan has passed away, that fulfills the omen that 7 must die before the treasure could be found. I personally can't wait for this years season!!! I pray that the Oak Island team finds enough artifacts to more than cover their expenses PLUS enough booty left over for their time and effort.

New comer to this whole saga. I have questions for anyone who might be so kind as to enlighten me. First I should say that this was a very interesting video. My thanks to those who produced it! I have just 2 questions: 1) Is the whole current Oak Island Treasure hunt based at all upon the assumption that the Wilkinson Map was real and that it depicted Oak Island? In other words; 2) Are the treasure hunters on Oak Island (OI) working wholely on the assumption that they are looking for Captain Kid's treasure? If the answers to those questions are yes, then I fear they will ultimately be disappointed. Because the author of the map told the American that he created the map from sort of memories of maps he had once seen. Regardless of any coincidences or similarities of the map to OI or the made up directions on the bottom of the map; ultimately the map is NOT REAL! (I was going compare the directions to a fairy tale but even fairy tales sometimes have their basis in some fact or legend.) So, it is really very sad if the current OI treasure hunters know that the map is a fake, yet still cling to some hope that they will find Captain Kid's treasure. Especially considering, from what I can gather from this well put together history of Captain Kid, that he did not seem to have any luck at all at gathering treasure. And his reputation as some sort of great pirate was basically just a lot of malicious gossip spread about by some English Commandants whose egos were bruised because Kid didn't want to be used by them for their purposes! Hopefully the current OI treasure hunters are going off the assumption that treasure is from some other source and nothing at all to do with the fake map made up by an author pressured by his publisher to tart up his new book to sell more copies! Oh and that map in that old television program was so laughably fake it was ridiculous!

Greetings , I like the fact that you're sincere, but I suggest that there is a entirely different aspect to this story...The construction of the Pit, was a Genius of Hydraulic Engineering, I'm suggesting that the Pit, ( or Shaft ), led to underground Cavities , where they encountered ' unknown people ".

Well if Kidds own writings say the loot is on an Island in the South China sea, I'm afraid all Wilkins discovered is a friggin dry ancient well and some Pigmie in the South China sea is wearing diamonds as big as horse turds.

Fascinating that Wilkins fabricated something so stunningly accurate, apparently from some random “inspiration”. could it be.. that there is an unknown agency patiently working toward some incredible historical discovery that will assist mankind in recovering ancient artifacts and information that will rewrite portions of history?

@@abetroyer9446 Most of it is coincidence. For instance I had built a home made race car some years back from a set of plans I drew when I was in friggin grade school. I can only make thee assumption someone found one of my old note books in my parents trash back in the early 1970's because one of the things I saved was that cars chassis drawing I kept a copy of it I made on a copier at a place I worked part time as a security guard they had some high tech office stuff back then. Some years later I am paging thru one of the local racing news publications where I live now and there is my fucking drawing even in my hand writing and the copier made the note book paper lines even more pronounced is one thing that still sticks in my brain. So some things are stranger than fiction when it comes to like wise interests. Incidentally the publication was marketing that chassis being MFG now by people I never heard of. I didn't have a patent on it at 14 years old nor could I ever prove it was my design. However I had 48 wins in 4 years with the car I built based on my chassis design. I did attract alot of attention to myself with that car. How someone in Tennessee got my plans for a Modified stock car chassis is one gigantic unsolved mystery to me.

I dont see anyway a pirate with a small crew could have possibly dug a pit 100+ foot deep with hundreds of feet of water shafts in years and years probably more years than any of them lived, if in fact there is a treasure buried on oak island it would have taken hundreds of men years to complete with crude hand tools

Solving this will require excavations at low-tide, where some of the island can be drained to reveal more. Think like a Mariner and tides become the dictator of anything getting done with ships in harbor. The sea in this case being the vault, the island is just a door covered in misdirection, or tragically misinterpreted clues by landlovers! Yarrggghhhh! Never me gold, only me bones!
