New OBD2 breakout box fail

the way to fix this is to open up the breakout box and replace resistors RQ6 and RQ14 with 10K resistors and your CAN led's will now work. my breakout box has 1K resistors as all the breakout pin circuits are the same for pins 1,2,3,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15 if you need a pic , let me know. -mark

So i need to replace RQ6 and RQ14 to get the CAN lights to work? Not sure what you are refering to with the 1K resistors or the diagram with R58-R60. thanks

Just because you attached the scan tool doesn't mean anything. The DLC to Scan tool is most likely on a completely different network from the actual Data networks. You need to go into "Live Data" so the networks start communicating- thus becoming active , triggering the LEDs. Hope this helps.

Wonder if it’s because you don’t have 12 volts? 11.6volts? It’s close, but maybe doesn’t like voltage, or the box is just junk?

nope, the circuit has incorrect resistors for the can pins 6, 14

I even bought the real thing and it doesn't work. A pile of crap. Send it back for a FULL refund.

Hi all - we have one of these in the shop also, it was doing my head in and I asked the boys - they said that Pins 1 to 8 are labelled incorrectly and should be in reverse. Will look into replacing the resistors also, it’s a good box and can be when it works.

Try to short pin 4 (Chassis GND) and 5 (Signal GND). they r probably separated in ur case and that’s why u can’t see the LEDs flashing (or ur obd breakout box is bad)

WAEL AHMED, How do you know which CAN module is bad when the CAN bus signal is bad? How do you disconnect each CAN module one by one using the cars fuse box or what?

Good question. Ever find out. I know how to do resistance test and plug out modules but other than that its a battle.
