The old olubadan palace was only used by Oba Yesufu Ashanke during whose reign it was built in the 1980s he reigned between 1983 - 1993 Before and after Oba Ashanke, Monarchs in the city of Ibadan ruled their people from the comfort of their homes which they turned to palace at coronation but the practice of using personal residence as the palace continued after Oba Ashanke. All affairs of city are deliberated upon in the home palaces with all members of the olubadan in council shifting their attendance to any current palace
