I cannot express how important and meaningful it is that you answer back these questions I know I'm not the only one that really appreciates that but I've got another one so when I'm watching KZbin when I turn on a video I noticed it says Dolby surround but whenever I play my switch it says PCM

That's because the switch doesn't have dolby surround or anything like that. Its an analog signal converted into a digital signal. PCM means it's converting the signal.

@@Kpaceguy yeah I had forgotten all about that I'd heard that and then after I posted that comment I had to leave and yeah I remember that LOL.. on my LG TV though I guess it's called simplink whenever I turn that off my remote stops controlling my TV but if I turn my TV off after I turned off the simp link it automatically turns the simp link back on and that turns on sound bar.. LOL I just can't get it to stop turning it on..it satys simp link (cec)

Just got one and the volume on my rear speakers are super low, like barely audible most times. I am runing hdmi, I have also tried optical with same results. Have any idea why or how to fix? Also I have bass at lowest setting and man this thing still shakes the house!

@@melsantos3401 so on mine I hear the back speakers good when I first got the Vizio when I had I couldn't hear the back speakers at all hardly and I ended up trading the back speakers for ONN speakers and man they were better with this surround sound I do hear the back speakers and don't feel a need to replace them or even complain so I'm not sure. There is a setting that turned the back speakers up which I assume you probably already found

@@melsantos3401 a good way to test that's something isn't wrong this is my recommendation if you have a switch and you have Mario kart 8 new 100% should be hearing the back speakers making the noise behind you from the game sounds if that makes sense I'm pretty slow and not very smart at all but like when I play Mario kart I can hear the stuff that should be coming out of the back speakers very well

Good comparison video. I bought the previous gen earlier this year (clearance for $50) but had to return it. It refused to stay powered on and I tried every suggestion I could find for 3 days straight. Bought the new model 3 days ago and I couldn't be happier. Was running all my stuff through a 500w Philips stereo for years. Had it since 2004 lol and it still reads CDs/sounds fantastic, but the RCA audio input decided to stop working and I've been very apprehensive about buying a replacement just because I'm stingy with my money. This $200 Onn system is worth every penny!

Vizio is very good for the price. My M51 Dolby Atmos was just on sale for $250 with Amazon Prime Day, but i got it few months ago at Best Buy $299. Nakamichi Soundbar one of the high end super good ones but expensive like $800-900. But it has a 10" subwoofer that hits 30 HZ.

If you're having a problem with the rear speakers try running it hdmi. Hope this is helpful- mine were hardly coming in, there was white noise, and the transmission was spotty at best when running optical- switched to hdmi and it sounds fantastic!

Welp I got it today, spent about 30 mins unpacking and setting it up, and after about 10 minutes of TV and music, knew it had to go back. I have a Vizio M51a-H6 (which also says Atmos on it) and I thought this was going to be an upgrade, so I could move the Vizio to another room. The Vizio (from 2020) sounds significantly better than this Onn. But I do appreciate the review video. I guess I'll stick with Vizios. The other drawback, with the satellite speakers, is that the power cable is much bulkier than a speaker cable. So it may be "true wireless" but the drawback is that the thin speaker wire is replaced with a big ugly power cord.

Very good presentation of this sound bar. I have an older S4251W-B4 from 2013 . It still pumps but doesn't give all the newer features that this onn does. I also upgraded my TV, so i believe the sound bar should be replaced. I've been looking at this sound bar for last two weeks, and now that I have seen your video and some comments, I will pull the trigger in a few minutes. Thanks for sharing your video and opinion.

I purchased this system yesterday and watched Jurassic Park on bluray and was blown away. Great sound! I initially had a strange audio delay on my first use, but powering the sound system off then on seems to have corrected it. Did you notice this at all on yours? @ yeah the way I see it they are one of those companies that *can* make good products (like these) but also still make cheap versions of other products that don’t last as long/work as good and that gets them a bad rep. But it seems they really put their everything into these sound bars cause they are incredible. Sound quality is AMAZING. I just recently got the new one as well. I just wish there was a way to disable the DTS Virtual X to where it stays off. Every time you turn it off and then turn it back on the virtual x is on by default every time. It kinda makes the surrounds to loud and sounds like being in an echoing room. Mostly in the movie mode. I actually also popped off the cloth cover part and wired some actual ceiling speakers from the up firing ones. A lot of atmos is kinda like ambient and to low noise to even bounce off the ceiling from the up fireing so is better to have actual speakers on the ceiling

Found the reason why my Onn Dolby atmos was lagging when I put on a movie for the first few seconds. I also found out why the Dolby Atmos feature doesn’t really work and got it to work. 1: the cable required for Dolby Atmos while using eARC is NOT HDMI 2.0. HDMI 2.0 will read on the cable “High Speed”. Unfortunately, PS5 AND the Onn Dolby Atmos set ups came stock with HDMI 2.0. Now…Dolby Atmos CAN work with HDMI 2.0 if your HDMI connection to your TV is the older version that says “ARC”. But…it will NOT work with the newer version of that port that says eARC. eARC requires a HDMI 2.1 cable. So, you need to buy TWO HDMI 2.1 cables for everything to work flawlessly. The reason I had lag was because I had a HDMI 2.1 cable going from my ps5 to my TV but was using the stock HDMI 2.0 that came with the Onn Dolby Atmos set up. Lastly, HDMI 2.0 can carry up to 18 Gigabytes per second (Gbps). More data translates into higher resolution (better picture) and clearer, more in-depth sound but HDMI 2.1 can transmit up to 48 Gbps. This increase in bandwidth capacity makes some pretty amazing things possible in the world of audiovisual technologies. By the way…HDMI 2.1 will ALWAYS be labeled “Ultra High Speed” on the cable. If it does not and says “High Speed” it is a 2.0 So by using 2 HDMI 2.1 cables, I stopped the input lag or delayed response and I got true Dolby Atmos. Btw, I asked the guy at Walmart about the cable they used and go figure, the one provided for the display is a 2.1 which doesn’t come with the package when a consumer buys it. It depends on the device you use, some devices change the soundbar settings based off if the app or movie can do atmos or not. So I would suggest looking up if your apps support Dolby atmos.

However, main sound bar is very loud and I can still barely hear the surround speakers. It feels like the main sound bar is 10 times louder than the surround sound speakers. I have to put the surround sound speakers a foot from my head to be able to hear anything out of them.

I have an older Vizio 5.1 system where one of the options is to have "4 channel stereo" which basically makes the 2 rear speakers output exactly what the front speakers are outputting.. not just surround effects. It has its uses. Does this new Onn soundbar have that option?

I got one and the rear satellites does not work at all except you playing 5.1 audio. Even via 3.5 or bluetooth - always only the subwoofer and main soundbar. Is it should be like that? I had old-style HiFi systems amd never saw this habit.

@@Anonymous-l1qHonestly Vizio means nothing. Onn is 50/50 on quality The previous 5.1.2 and the chromecast they have are fantastic with the Onn beating the official chromcast. I never bought what is on the video and I am sure it is better, but I ain't in a hurry since I bought the old one due to rollback/clearance and its great for a small room while this is for more open areas.

If u have Atmos content playing turn off vrt:x (button on your remote) the rears will sound much better with separation/clearer from the main bar, and with Atmos content that's how ur supposed to have them (Vrt off), Ive had the this bar for like 4 hours and couldn't figure out why all my Atmos was sounding tin canny and all 3d tones sounded grouped together, I could barely hear the rear channels out of the box Vrt:x is on and stays on even when using Atmos mixed movies(via HDMI 2.1 cable). I think the reason why Onn has done this is because they want ppl to have the 3d type sound stage with non Atmos/dtsx content, and because most content and any live tv will be non Atmos mixed, they've made this choice for regular ppl to get the jist/3d sound effects. They should clarify in the dam paperwork lol. point being I've been making "Eq" adjustments for a couple hours and no matter what I've done the sound just didn't have any separation like the first gen onn sound bar did after my tinkering or like my lg elcair does. with Atmos content playing I turned off vrt and bang I could dial the bar in to my preference with the settings. Vrt:x in a nutshell is a fake way to get 3d audio sounds with non 3d sound mixed content. if you know all this my apologies but this read would then be for anyone else having such worries about there rear speakers as I also did and this comment would be a good place to leave such info lol. it's not always a constant out of rear channels and not all 3d/Atmos mixed movies are done the same, just like bt2020 colors in HDR movies you don't just get all the colors the artist has to add what they choose lastly you'll no if your movies/TV shows support Dolby Atmos by back of your uhd box or in the streaming platform next to the name of the movie " EG: Netflix movies, say (Dolby Atmos) at the end of the second line under the movie title" also on the sound bar itself when playing Atmos right after you hit play your sound bar will scroll in a Dolby Atmos text then disappear back to a EARC in my case. if you do not see any Atmos labels then you can turn back on Vrt:x for the effect

@@tictechtone I cannot get mine to play the Dolby atmos across the bar when Dolby atmos content is being played on a movie. I’m using a hdmi 2.1 cable(onn brand) not the one that came with the bar. Really trying to keep this bar and not return it for the Vizio 5.1 atmos bar.

I recently got these but am having issues with the rear surround speakers. I mainly wanted to use the Bluetooth function and connect it with a streaming device. All the devices connect fine, but the surround speakers sound lower and distorted. Any help is appreciated

In order for eARC to work you need the latest HDMI cable. The sound bar includes one. But there are better quality cables available you can swap with to ease your curiosity.

Earc only works if your tv has earc hdmi port which not all tvs have at this point.In that case it reverts back to standard hdmi arc setting which in my opinion is fine. ALL sound quality is always dependent on what your system or channel or stream is pushing. IN other words look at it like this. They started selling 1080p aspect tvs back in the day way before 90 percent of stations even pushed anything that close.

Next Door neighbor Wife starting to go Crazy with my OSD Trevoce 12 subwoofer. I moved it close to the wall- Main Driver about 5" and 11" from the Wall. And= Tilted at an Angle not straight to. Rear passive Radiator hitting Wall Corner and the other passive radiator hitting me. I figure I have 8 Years so another 5 Years to watch movies there as their Rhodesian Ridgeback Dogs was a Living Hell for 8 years. Might have to talk to them next time i see them.

Depending what you watch, they handle the ambient effects. They aren't always active. They are most active during movies or streaming services that support 5.1 surround sound.

So recently my not even 6-month-old LG TV the remote stopped working and it's not the remote it's something in the TV anyways still under warranty they're coming to fix it with that being said I had to pull a Roku TV in my room tell hook up my soundbar and everything until they get here to fix my TV and I'll tell you that this sound bar definitely works a little better with a Roku TV it's obviously already for a Roku TV there's even settings in the settings for the sound bar on the TV LOL but I can definitely like hear the back speakers better it sounds a little better one thing that's weird is that sounds like crap when it's on PCM with my switch but if I take it off as PCM and just put it on auto and it comes as Dolby surround it sounds amazing even though I guess the switch doesn't support that
