Always reminds me of our wedding and honeymoon in Rydal in the English Lake district! We had the cassette of 'Power, Corruption and Lies' with us. Both in our early twenties. Magical time. And yes, dear reader, we're still together now, having just celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary...❤

The record reminds me of being accompanied by warmth when I was an awkward 17 year old, as if this band was my only friend in the world. The video reminds me of heroin withdrawals 17 years later in my mid 30's. Now I am in my mid 50's and at peace with God, the loneliness and restlessness gone forever. For me, New Order are the greatest band of all time.

Yeah but the video is agnostic enough to allow the song (SKILL) to dominate ... so no hate on their medium it was ok. Not so much for me (although I dug it) .. but someone above thought the video hit home for them and was very appropriate, just how it goes Diff "Screen of perception" / Life experiences. Ya know that horrible stuff that makes us different and hateful and racist haah oh wait wrong video sorry my bad hahahah

True, but with context. Joy Division used to open for The Cure, and Three Imaginery Boys was released a year before Ian Curtis hanged himself in May of 1980, thus effectively ending Joy Division. New Order wasn't founded until 1980, four years after The Cure. So yes, no doubt each band influenced the other, but this isn't a case where one band came first and another reinterpreted the other. They were both part of the same scene.

Don't worry, if I'm still breathing, I'll have this ready to play for everyone to kick up their heels, flail about, and spin spin spin around the dance floor. If I shuffle this mortal coil first, you please bring it for the same purposes as stated above. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

I heard this song for the first time at a bank a little while ago. They were playing all eighties music with that pop/punk/nu-wave/rock sound. I picked a good bank. - small, cool.

New Order is timeless, but sometimes it's sad when you let yourself read the comments...huge debate over the meaning? Who cares. It means different things to different people, as art and music can and should. I watched it and thought tough breakup and at the end she's dancing it out. Yeah, that can be a thing, you're sad and depressed and realize you just need to do something fun...that helps you get over it and you start moving on. Anyway, that was what I got from the dance at the end, and don't really care if I'm officially right or wrong. Gen X is the whatever generation so pretty sure New Order's take on what meaning you find in this is just that.

I think everyone needs to calm down. The fact that, in 2020/2021, we're getting re-interpretations of some of the best New Order music ever is just a super fortunate position to be in. Outside of what your expectations might have been, the video is pretty fucking cool (in the "just awesome" way and the artistic way), and in my opinion, fits the music beautifully - and the remaster sounds FANTASTIC. Just enjoy this.

I’m old now. I was in high school and uni when joy divisions/new order were at their artistic peak (IMO), not their popularity peak. That came later. Hated that World Cup nonsense. Anyway, I wore out the VHS tape of their concert at Taris Shevchenko I watched it so many times. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you must be young. Go find it. I beseech you. My brother sent me the link and I was dreading some kind of Blue Monday 88 treatment had befallen on of my favourite NO songs of all time. I’m pleased that they really did just remaster the song and added a video. Not what they would have done back then but it’s not horrible. The video is relevant to today, which is fine. If this will make this song and my beloved band from my youth relevant to this present, lost generation, I approve. God we had fun in the 80’s. And we had such wide and varied tastes....

For those times in the 80's right up to today, when we get a bit shit-faced and love to cut loose dancing to our favourite music that feeds our souls like nothing else can...I salute you all, and love that I'm STILL doing at the age of 60 with my old girlfriends from that era!! I couldn't be more thrilled that my 25yr old son's favourite band is 'The Cure'...as was, is, and always will be mine...and my nieces and nephews are virtually obsessed with 80's music...all wanting my vinyl collection!! It's just all too cute, imo...and I've trained them well!
